This is an establishment that also sells meat. It was quiet when we went for lunch but I can imagine it gets busy at night. Our meals were OK although they cook the burgers medium and I prefer rare which does not seem to be an option. We did not sample the main menu which looks as though it would be worth exploring.

I have eaten at the Butcher stand at the LIC flea several times and finally got around to trying the restaurant in Astoria. The restaurant has great ambiance and was very comfortable. We tried the burnt ends sandwich and the Monster (50/50 pulled pork and brisket), both of which were excellent. They came with pickles, cole slaw and corn bread (excellent!). Also had the mac and cheese for a side, which was very good but could have been a little hotter. Nice choice of beers on tap. Our Server Betty was very friendly and provided excellent service. A manager also stopped by to make sure that everything was ok, which I always find to be a nice touch. Will definitely be returning sometime soon!

Walking in I had high hopes for Butcher Bar. The red Sangria was amazing, queso was pretty good as well. The problem started when our main didn't arrive 30 minutes after finishing our queso and the waitress came over and asked us how are meals were. Are you kidding me? We watched her walk over to the manager after watching her look at our ticket and entering it into the system. It was clear - she forgot to even place our main with the kitchen. Yet, she came over and told us the kitchen was simply delayed to the rush and we ordered a 12oz steak - they take a while. Again, are you kidding me? People around us who arrived 45 mins after us were getting their meals and I've cooked a steak - it doesn't take over an hour. Our reservation was for 7pm and we didn't start to eat our main until 8:45...yes 8:45. On a positive, the waitress gave us complimentary corn bread and offered a free dessert. But by the time my meal came it was too late for me to enjoy it and the fact that she lied and blamed the kitchen was pretty bad. The food overall was good but I tried my BFs steak - the wait wasn't worth it. Go to a steak house if that's what's you're after.

The decor is warm and inviting. Plenty of room between tables. The service was attentive and friendly. Our burgers (veggie and bacon burgers) were substantial and cooked exactly the way we ordered them. Served with a side of slaw (a bit too much dressing) and pickles. The bacon burger guy would have liked a side of fries; odd that they weren't a standard accompaniment. Good selection of beers and wines. Very reasonably priced as well. Definitely worth another trip!

We ordered the Nachos for our appetizer; filipino sandwich, 1/2 rack of ribs, trio of meats (Double Smoked Burnt Ends, Filipino Sausage, Smoked Beef Brisket), and sides of mac n cheese, and beans. The Nachos were great. The entree's we ordered would have been awesome but the food was cold, like they cooked it and left it out for a while and we were 3 of 10 people in the place. The waitstaff seemed a bit distracted by just hanging out and singing along to songs and really didn't seem to want to work. We were going to send the food back to get warmer but our waitress took forever to notice us and were hungry. Overall i can see why people like this restaurant, unfortunately we came on a night when it was subpar.

Saw this place on the foodnetwork or cooking channel. On an impulse, visited with cousins from NJ. Well worth a repeat visit. Portions are decent and food well prepared. Little different from the normal BBQ place. The Meat Candy sandwich was out of this world. The 50/50 (pulled pork & brisket) was nice and the meat juicy & fresh. The Philly Cheese Brisket Sandwich was unique and tasty. The Mac-N-Cheese was excellent. We certainly will be coming back to try out some of the other dishes, and are confident that, based on today's visit, it will be well worth the trip from Long Island. Also the place is clean and surprisingly spacy. Wonderful wait staff as well.

Didnt realize a 20% gratuity was added to the bill until after I had given the server a cash tip. A bit decieving since they request a cash tip on the bill.
