I loved our experience, but I have a thought for the staff. My girlfriend and I went to celebrate our anniversary and our staff misgendered my girlfriend within seconds of us sitting down. I'd love for the staff to think twice about using gendered language if they're not sure! It'll help everyone feel more comfortable.

The restaurant has its charm of smoke house feel. When I got there, there were two large groups with a few intoxicated and very loud people. The food was good but not impressive. Portions are enormous. Pork chop was dry but the lobster tail (side dish) was fantastic. My favorite dish was the deep-frid green tomatoes. Sounds a little weird, but the flavors are absolutely amazing with the sauce. Overall I wouldn't be back, but would recommend to people who are meat-lovers (which I'm not) and don't mind loud restaurant.

I tried this as an alternative to the Capital Grille, which has been my go to restaurant for pre-theater dining. A spicier twist on the classic steakhouse which wasn't as good as a classic steakhouse in my opinion. For appetizers we had the smoked bone marrow and wedge salad, neither of which were noteworthy. My dining companion had the filet, which she said was good. I had the dry aged ribeye which was properly cooked and tasty but tough. The fried green tomatoes and potato pave were okay, but nothing special. Over the course of our meal as the restaurant filled up the noise volume grew to the point where it became very difficult to hear the waitress or to converse with my dining companion. One experience isn't necessarily representative of an establishment, but if I decide to visit this restaurant again, it will only be for outdoor dining.

We came to Minneapolis for a Twins game, and I was celebrating my 65th birthday. We brought my mother in law and her friend, both are 80. My mother in law believes Perkins and Applebee’s are fine dining.

We had the best server ever!! I can’t recall his name, red hair, short beard, eyeglasses, I think he said his sisters family makes the ice cream. He was the greatest, he took his time to explain the menu in great detail, theeeeeeee best.

Then the food came, and we were overwhelmed. The portion size, and that Berkshire pork flavor! Outstanding. It wasn’t until later that I came to understand your web page comment about communal dining. I wish we would have ordered a serving of the dry aged steak. Oh well , next time!!

Everything was outstanding. The marrow and the sausage sampler were amazing. Ordered the Rib since it was a specialty...did not disappoint. Make sure to order the hot Brussels sprouts to go with it.

2nd time we've been - better than the 1st. The drinks are amazing (and amazingly strong) and the food was top-notch! I would highly recommend for an energetic crew or couple ready to have a fun night! The food was spectacular - especially if you are a meat-lover (like us). Wife had one of the specialty sausages (Chorizo - the best) and I had the Beef Rib (amazing) along with the potato-poutine, which was the best potato dish we've ever had. Top it off with one of the best waiters we've had. There is a reason this place is so popular.

This was my third time coming to Butcher & the Boar, and just like every other time, it was AMAZING. We had a small group and ordered several cuts of meat and sides. Nothing disappointed. However, the long ribs were by far the favorite. And the buffalo brussel sprouts were a surprising treat. Don’t miss this place. It is a carnivore’s dream.

One of the best meals we have ever shared was here for our anniversary. The cheese plate was amazingly good, the wedge salad was tasty and flavorful, the wild boar sausage was nice and spicy, and the main courses were just well...beyond excellent! Her scallops were as big as her fist and full of flavor where they melted in the mouth. My dry aged NY strip was in the top 5 best steaks I have ever had...and I am a steak guy. Service was A+ also. Going to be hard to beat this place!!

Took long time to be seated. Had 6:45pm reservation, not seated until 7:10pm.

I was so sad when I walked out of here with my hubby. We had date night and neither had dined here before and had been wanting to for sooo long. The staff was wonderful! I wanted to love the food so badly.. Our appetizer (tartar) was the highpoint- delish. We both had the dry aged steak.. and it there wasn't anything special about it.. it tasted.. well.. ok. The mushrooms we had weren't cooked properly, the potato pave was bland.. (boo hoo). The tables are way too close together and sat half of our meal with a servers rear in our faces as they took others orders. All in all.. I was one sad diner that night...

What an amazing restaurant! We sat outside, on a beautiful plant and tree shaded patio, near a roaring fireplace. Service was great, the house made sausages were outstanding and the vibe was really cool.

My wife and I found this restaurant in 2016 when we flew into Minneapolis for a weekend vacation. I recently had to return to Minneapolis for work training and we made sure we were able to make a reservation before returning home. Everything was perfect just like the first time.

It was my husbands birthday and we had a great time but when we got home my husband said his steak was horrible...all fat. He said he kept thinking he would get to the good stuff but it was the fattiest steak he’s ever had. He didn’t want to say anything at the restaurant to spoil the night. Other than that is was a good time.

Our server was fantastic! We asked a lot of questions regarding our meals and she took the time to find out about specific ingredients for us. I feel terrible that I don't remember her name but she took excellent care of us. The food was amazing as always. I would recommend to anyone.

The food was good, but not exceptional. It was very expensive for what you get. It is also very noisy and crowded. I will say service (Denise) was phenomenal! It was a fun evening out, but not sure I will return as their are so many options in Minneapolis/St. Paul that have the whole package...excellent food, excellent service, excellent atmosphere. Butcher & the Boar didn't quite meet the mark.

Double porkchop absolutely huge. Perfectly done and the best I’ve ever had by a mile. Great service. Excellent spicy brussel sprouts and grilled brocollini. No chicken on the menu but they do have fish,shrimp and lobster. Coming back for the sausages and steak. Large outdoor beer garden in back Small valet parking but there is a ramp around the corner that was $5 on 11th street. Cocktails are amazing. Huge bourbon menu. Can’t recommend this place enough

The meal and service were truly outstanding. The only two things I could make our meal better would be, the temperature of the restaurant was to cold until someone turned the air off and to watch the length of time guests are at a table, especially with kids.

Great food and wine/booze selection! They had Pappy van Winkle which is extremely rare from where I am from. Cheese board needs some work (needs some better crackers and mustard/something extra/maybe candied nuts?). Everything else is great!
