FABULOUS FOOD. I highly recommend. Deliciousness.
It is all about the meat. Come hungry and enjoy!!!
Disappointed by the size of the sides. They were described to be family size portions and they were far from that.
I don't believe there is anything on the menu that isn't wonderful...from the charcuterie board to the scallops to the steaks and sides. Good service and nice wine list. The noise level is the only complaint--difficult to hear the server as well as those at your table.
Great food and service! I recommend the peanut butter jalapeños and the smoked long rib.
Not bad by any means, but pretty underwhelming food. Disappointing given all the hype.
The portion sizes were astronomically large. Consider sharing plates so you do not feel wasteful of the beautiful animals. Our server was fantastic and he would be the only reason we would go back. Please consider less food on a plate.
The restaurant was over rated. Food was very fancy with presentation but didn’t taste great for the amount you pay. We had the $72 steak special. It had a big bone and lots of fat. The big Pork cut was very tough and also had a lot of fat. The net amount you could eat was about half. We ordered these 2 entrees to share which ended up not being enough food when we had to subtract the fat and the bone. We made a reservation a couple months in advance. Our reservation was 6:45. We didn’t get seated until 7:09. We got a free cheese plate which was nice. The server was good and knowledgeable. However we had to wait a lot between her visits. Our table was the table nook for 6 right by the bar. Very noisy and people kept creeping in our space. That was annoying! We tried to eat at this restaurant for literally a couple years. We were very much looking forward to this evening. It was my husbands birthday. We spent over $450 and stopped at Dairy Queen on the way home because we were still hungry. That’s disappointing!
The service was great and so was the food. The only thing we did not like was the old fashion drink. Two of us thought they were bad and we both drink them regularly. It was disappointing since it's their signature drink.
Great food! We had a fun table with a view of the chefs meat preparation area and that added to the experience.
Really enjoyed my experience at Butcher and the boar. Incredible Brussels sprouts and their sausages are dynamite! The waiter put in the wrong food item for us but quickly fixed it and offered to buy us dessert. Drinks came out extremely quick and never had any issues. Food was quick and didn’t have to wait. Butcher and the Boar is pricey but you can easily stay within that under $80-$100 for two people if you aren’t buying the most expensive things on the menu. We got 4 food items, a cocktail, and a nice glass of wine for under $100. If you are looking to impress someone get a reservation in advance and take this person here! You won’t regret the food, drinks, and overall decor of this place.
I love butcher and the boar, nothing bad to say. It's the best place to go and everyone gets something to share. The entrée are big enough and you'll get soo full. I love the food and everything on the menu is so flavorful. I love to cook and I am unable to re-create anything.
This place is amazing. I would describe it as a spiritual meat experience. Yum. Can’t believe I waited this long.
Excellent place for a special event. Prices are high, but the food is well worth it. Wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable. Drinks were excellent and well crafted. All of the entrees we had were huge perfectly cooked. Sides were well worthwhile (especially the brussel sprouts).
Another absolutely wonderful evening at Butcher and the Boar. We were celebrating my son's birthday and once again had excellent drinks, impeccable service, delicious food, and all in a vibrant but comfortable ambience. We love this restaurant: in fact my world traveling son says it's the best restaurant he has ever eaten at!
Incredibly loud which ruined the entire dining experience. When you have to yell at the person your dining with, that is no fun. Food was marginal at best
My expectations were very high for this place. We made the reservation weeks in advance because each time we are in MN it is impossible to get in; so I was expecting to be blown away but I was not.
Although the place is very good I think it is over hyped.
The wine was ok, the beef rib was superb but expensive. The sausage sampler was very good but very salty. I’d come back but it is not top on my list for Minneapolis restaurants.
Ruined our anniversary night with bad table and very salty food. We were given a very small table right by the entrance to the bar. (Even the reservation was made about an week in advance with a nice table request to celebrate anniversary). Filet was okay. Halibut was way over cooked and salty. Asparagus was covered in salt. And we could not even take bite to the dessert (chocolate tart) because it was rock hard. The waiter didn’t seem to care. Only thing good was the wine. They don’t deserve to be under fine dining category. Their food is just mediocre salty bar type food. Awful experience-:(
Food was incredible! Service was awesome. Really enjoyed dinner despite the fact that it was noisy as tables are seated together.
We had a great time at Butcher and the Boar! The atmosphere was great, a bit loud as the five of us sat and chatted but we were able to hear each other by speaking loudly. The service was fantastic! Our waiter was very knowledgable and attentive to what we needed. Food was good, my husband thought his portion of meat was less than what it should have been for the price. Overall, we were pleased. We would definitely go back.
Service was outstanding. Jim did a great job. Whiskey selection is top notch. Food is very good but large portions. Would like to see a little more seafood on the menu. If one is not into steaks or sausage the variety can be limiting. Pricing is a bit high. Overall, a great place.
Loved everything about our experience at Butcher & the Boar. Indulged in the best ribeye steak I have ever had here. Only downside was how loud the restaurant was. I didn't realize that the environment would be as loud as it was when booking dinner at Butcher & the Boar. I could hardly hear my husband who sitting across from me. Regardless, the food and service was so good that we will definitely be back!
Ordered bone marrow appetizer, NY strip, wedge salad and Fulton fries. Atmosphere, service and drinks are fabulous. App and salad great! Steak was SPICY!! Fries were overly peppered and spicy and catsup condiment had hot sauce in it?? Wanted a real good piece of meat but was masked by all the hot seasoning. IF I ever come back will maybe try the sausages otherwise they have a great bourbon selection.
Love the atmosphere and great location for pre theater. We have had great experiences at this restaurant in the past but our steaks and fries were so heavily seasoned and spicy we couldn't enjoy the flavor of the food. Very disappointed and IF we return it will be for the bar and try one of their sausages. Definitely not worth the money.
The food was good but overpriced. I would go back for the beer garden.
The food was very flavorful, but at these prices we expected the restaurant to be much quieter. It was difficult to carry on a regular conversation. I would only recommend this restaurant with a strong emphasis on the loud environment.
Loved the service and ambiance!
Great restaurant. Everything I’ve ever eaten here has been delicious. Great and friendly staff. Very creative menu. The Beef long rib is a must. I would highly recommend.
The food was excellent when it was excellent (long rib, sausages) and just fine otherwise (smoked salmon, corn gratin), but be prepared for some capsaicin heat, because it’s in a lot of the entrees. Service was beyond excellent. In the bar area where we were sat, we had to nearly shout to hear our friends across the table. It’s very expensive, but I’d definitely go again and recommend it to others.
Very nice, way too loud!!!!!
Hit and miss. Some of what we had was excellent and some really didn't live up to the price point. Service was good. Seating was very cramped (get ready to bump elbows with your neighbors).
Excellent service, service staff was great at staging the table for each course. Food was amazing, great flavor with everything that was ordered. Favorite restaurant to eat at when up in the cities.
I am an older man that has eaten many meals at many restaurants. On Sunday January 6th I enjoyed absolutely the best meal of my life at the Butcher & the Boar. The service from our server and the rest of the staff, the atmosphere, and food was the best I have ever experienced. That was the best meal I have ever eaten!
My wife and I will be back!
Thank you!
If the reservation starts at 5, I would have at least had the doors open 15 minutes prior - especially during the winter. There is a lobby area that can accommodate. It is better than having to walk to the bar a few doors down while waiting... else, it was amazing as always!
Food is excellent. Even with reservations had to wait an hour to get seated.
Service was fantastic and all the house made sausages are unbelievable. Highly recommend the tartare. Long rib looked fantastic and the pork chop was huge. Steaks were all under cooked at our table and the table next to us. A restaurant that specializes in meat should be able to get a NY Strip to medium every single time. Other than that the meal was wonderful.
Overall very good. Con: music was very heavy on the base and hard to hear the people talking across the table from us. Pros: Food was amazing. Oysters were the best we’ve ever had... a tad pricey for four of them. Plate presentations were spot on for foodies and the non-foodie. Ambiance was inviting... just the music was a bit too loud for 5:45 on a Friday night.
