If you are looking for a high-quality meal at a moderate price, you have got to stop in! Our server was polite and attentive, this is just as important a the food. To start is off, we tried their take on the cauliflower tempura. Fantastic, we ate every bite! The steak was cooked to perfection and the veggies were a great balance of cooked yet retaining the natural "snap". We also had the chef's special, a braised short rib with a mushroom risotto, it was so tender and delicious. The drink menu was reasonably priced and tasty. At the end, we were left wanting more but we were too full to have another bite. This means we will just have to go back!

Visited Racine for a friends wedding in July 2022. Never been to this city before but loved how walkable everything was. We chose Butcher & Barrel based on the menu options. We had a reservation. Staff was welcoming and we sat down immediately. The drink I chose was unavailable due to limited ingredients but I got another one which was pretty good (can’t find the drink menu online otherwise I’d insert the name). My hubby got the Old Fashion and he enjoyed it. We ordered the brussel sprouts as the starter - excellent. Then it took a while before our waiter came back to get our orders. My hubby got the herbed chicken and I got the seared scallops. The food took a long time. We should have had a second drink but the waiter took a while to come around. Once the food came, I was told that my side item (sweet potatoes) was not available so they gave me the regular mash which was fine. The scallops were perfectly cooked inside. The mash was pretty salty. The herbed chicken was very good as well but again the purée was salty. We did get the crustless cheesecake which was pretty small and was basically a small bowl of ricotta and cinnamon. I liked it but hubby said it wasn’t what he expected. Prices were reasonable. Only negative was the long waits from the server. Server was really nice and great when they came to us but food coming out was slow. I would still highly recommend this place for anyone visiting. Great GF options and food is really good. Nice interior and good ambience.

Our server, Emma, was a gem. After perusing their menu on line, I had my mind set on the pan seared scallops and they tasted just as I had dreamed they would. They were cooked to perfection and served over a Curry Sweet Potato Puree, Snow Peas, Toasted Cashew and Cilantro sauce. I was very happy to say the least. My guest had the Bacon cavatappi and smoked Gouda "mac and cheese." She said it was divine and enjoyed it very much. It was my guest's birthday and we let Emma know. When she told us what was on the dessert menu we opted for the flour-less chocolate cake with fresh creme Anglais. I have had flour-less chocolate cake before and this was the best I ever tasted. And, they comped us the cake, a $9.00 value, as a celebration on my friend's birthday. The menu items were inventive and there was a good selection without it being overwhelming. We were not rushed in order to turn over the table. So a wonderful time was had by all. We agreed we would go there again.

I was truly disappointed with my visit to this establishment. I made reservations for a regular table and was sat at the high tops. The bar tender was the waitress and the wait time was extremely long. We waited a good 15 mins before our drink order was taken. We quickly ordered our food with the drinks just so we wouldn’t have to wait again. Scallops and chicken were ordered and we waited 40 mins for the food. The establishment itself was beautiful and has potential but the wait time for what was three tables hat needed service was just horrible.

Fist time patrons. Limited menu, but that made the decision on an entree easier. Very good service, no beer on tap. Food was good portions; had to check the theme of the venue though because the food was spicy like Indian cuisine.

The lights were too bright when we came in (and for a while into the meal), and the meat portion of each entree was good, but not GREAT - cooked very well, but we weren't impressed with the cuts for the price. Everything else was wonderful - the sides, the dessert and the drinks were fantastic.

We only had apps and wine, as we were on a tight time schedule. Service (Juan) was excellent, top notch. Pinot Noir (Le Crema) excellent. Lobster Ravioli - v. good. Butcher Block charcuterie board - v. good (could use olives). The place is a bit pricey but quite enjoyable.

Didn't see the menu online and it was quite expensive. Sides like a simple salad were extra. Pork chop, even with ordering pink in the middle, was really tough, but tasty. Drinks, taste ok, but the amount of ice was ridiculous. Staff was very good.

Visited the restaurant for Gal-entine's dinner. I have been to this restaurant more than ten times and have never been seated upstairs. We ended up being the only three customers in this area (normally used for private events) and it felt remote and odd. The server was friendly and did a good job considering he also had tables in the main restaurant area on the main floor. I definitely prefer to sit in the main area. Only a price fixed menu was available for Valentine's Day. We all enjoyed every course and were happy with the menu, but others may have found it very limited. It was much more expensive than their normal prices, especially if you don't eat dessert. But the quality and flavors of the main course was spot on.

My husband and I went for Valentine’s Day. We enjoyed our selections from their prefixed 4 course menu for this occasion. The only complaint would be the congested seating. The man at the table next to us was obnoxiously critiquing - from the wine to the way the server placed his silverware. It was hard to ignore because he was so close to us. Other than that, the food was delicious, the service was great and the establishment has a nice, chic feel to it.

I was excited to see they had a better variety of food options for their Valentine’s Day menu even though they claim to have a seasonal menu. This was the only reason we went there. Overall, it was poorly executed. The lobster crostini tasted like canned lobster, the salad was mundane, the desserts were some of the worst I have ever had (cheesecake and flourless chocolate cake). If you don’t have a pastry chef, or a good one, source your desserts from a local bakery. For the second and third vegetarian friendly course both contained brussel sprouts. This was a huge misstep especially since brussel sprouts do not go well with risotto versus peas or mushrooms. The star of the night was the mulligatawny soup. Overall it was very disappointing especially for the price of the food. If you are going to charge big city prices, you need to deliver on the quality of food and the preparation of it.

Every aspect of the dining experience has been excellent, every time. Make sure to make a reservation, even at lunch during the week. Very popular, for good reason!!❤️

Excellent environment, delicious food and great service. It is always a treat going to Butcher & Barrel. This was a first for some of my friends and they were all extremely impressed. It is a great locations, for a date night out, a girls night out, or just wanting to treat yourself. Everything on the menu is wonderful and the food is fresh! If they run out of something, keep in mind they buy local and fresh so there isn't a stock pile or waste. They are very accommodating to finding an alternate choice. And seriously the choices are just as delicious. Definitely try this place out!

Drinks were on point. We made reservations and were immediately seated which was nice. But the Staff was immature and the level of camaraderie was at an all time high. It didn’t seem like there was a manager on staff and also one waitress left her vape and switchblade at the vacant table next to us. The mushroom soup was overly salty, the wings were mushy but were of a nice size. The one thing that really put me off was the moldy water cap on the bottle. I was instantly put off as sanitation is something that I look for in places. I really hope they change and don’t turn into the next envy... it seems like Racine can’t keep anything nice for long.

We were excited to try this restaurant as Racine is in need of dinner spots. We both ordered the fish- both over cooked. Portions were really small for the price. The tables are uncomfortably close. We hope the owners rethink their plan and make some changes to keep us coming. It has a ton of potential.
