We chose this restaurant because we wanted a nice steak dinner but wanted something that wasn’t the typical high end chain restaurant. We were a little leery but decided to go for it! The service, food and ambiance was all on point and we were not disappointed! It’s definitely a place we would recommend. Prices are reflective of the quality. Check this place out next time you’re in NYC.
Delicious food, great service with very attentive staff. Was a wonderful experience!!
We had a wonderful birthday celebration - service was superb and the food was excellent!
They were incredible! Food, decor, service.... Everything was perfect!
Crab cakes a MUST! YUM! everything was lovely ! Will come back!
-Great proximity to Madison Square Garden
-Very intimate setting.
-The food was delicious and our server was very professional. I will most definitely be returning next time I’m catching a show at Madison Square Garden.
Great food. Tight quarters. Service was average.
We went for my birthday. It was a really nice place with good service and good food!
Had a great time will definitely go again!
Great place to get a Manhattan in Manhattan with a speakeasy vibe.
Wonderful hidden gem with amazing food and sizable portions. Service was spot on and we were also able to relax without feeling rushed as we had a 4 hour delay in between transportation. Started out with Piri piri dusted oysters a modern take on oysters Rockefeller which were delicious and a touch spicy. Also had the bankers bacon with roasted poblano peppers and julienne green apple.
We had the 5 spice duck with a cherry reduction and the portions were sizable and the sauce sublime. Also crime brûlée and cheesecake for dessert did not disappoint!
The food and the waiter were exceptionally great! Only issue was that I made a special request for my guest with the front desk which was completely ignored. I would have paid extra but other than that great spot
Had a quiet date night there, great location, easy to get too, nice small private elevator. Waite could have been a little more knowledgable but provided great service. I had the New York Strip medium rare, it was good but not great. My date had the petite filet, also medium rare, which was very good. The carrots are very good and unique to me. The asparagus was good but could of had better flavor. For dessert, we split a slice of the mascarpone cheesecake with a raspberry orange sauce on the side. The cheesecake was very good, near the center it was excellent but as you get closer to the outside edge it became a little heavier, still good though. We will definitely be going back again.
Superb restaurant and divine menu. Staff is very attentive and eager to please. Chef Scott Campbell is creative and sparkles.
The place was very cool. My steak was over cooked which was upsetting but other than that it was good.
Terrific service and amazing food - perhaps the best filet mignon we have ever had. Great evening.
Was a Sunday evening at 7:15 Pm, second time there. We were sat promptly. Waiter greeted us and we were served warm bread, bottled water and wine. We shared a wedge salad and oysters Rockefeller at same time and very quickly. As a fine dining experience, it should have been separately. Both were very good. 15 minutes later our dinner arrived. We needed more wine but the waiter didn’t check on us for 15 minutes. We now ate what we could and were done eating by 8:00 Pm. We finally were served our second glass of wine after we were done eating. The food was very good, the fine dining experience was not.
This was a highlight of our trip, the food was delicious and portions were quite generous, service staff was attentive and friendly. I will return for sure!
Excellent food! Started with the surf and turf sliders and bacon...so good! The Tomahawk Ribsteak was incredible. All of us left very satisfied.
Great evening -- great food/ attentive and engaging server.
I believe this is one of the dining options for the New Yorker Hotel which I believe is a Wyndham. This is possibly the best hotel restauarant I have ever dined at with perhaps the lone exception being Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill at the Caesar's Palace in Vegas. This is high praise for Butcher and Banker.
We went to Butcher and Banker because some in our party had a hankering for the Kan-Kan pork which is a Puerto Rican dish that seems to be a specialty of Butcher and Banker although Butcher and Banker is not a Puerto Rican restaurant. It is a steakhouse. Those in my party that ordered the pork enjoyed it very much. I am not a fried pork fan and I went for the 12-hour smoked BBQ short rib which was the meatiest, most tender, most delicious serving of beef I have had outside of Texas. This was preceded by good oysters on the half-shell with a cocktail sauce that had ginger in it which was a nice twist. The only disappointments were a pretty plain caesar salad and pretty average creme brulee. The restaurant is also pricey. The service and the cocktails are excellent. The restaurant is conveniently located within walking distance of Penn Station and I would definitely go back.
The bread was cooked too much and was so hard in the bottom it was hard to chew. The potatoes were microwaved and burning hot. Shrimp was ok. Meat was good They didn’t honor The MTC discount even though it is advertised on the MTC website. For over $100 a person this was not a place to return to.
Love steakhouses. This one was new to us, had looked at menu on-line, liked what we saw. The place is beautiful and very quiet
Unfortunately, the wait staff seemed new and indifferent
Sent back the rolls because they were stoned cold, they came back warm, but we wondered if they just put them in microwave
I ordered a cosmo, it was weak, husband got coffee, apparently that was good
We ordered shrimp cocktail as appetizer, the shrimp were very large however, a bit tough, i'm guessing over cooked
The porterhouse for two was delicious! Very flavorful, loved the roasted garlic, yum
The mashed potatoes were delicious as well
had the look, and the steak, need to work on fine tuning staff
thanks for listening
Average steak house. Conveniently located near Madison Square garden for dinner before games
It was my fiancé’s birthday and the food and service was exceptional
The service, our food, eating in the Vault all wonderful. You get what you pay for
outstanding lamb chops
Great atmosphere, extremely intimate. Appetizers and desserts are very good! I would recommend to others.
The food wasn’t top quality but the environment was pretty cool. You should really just go for drinks and pictures.
It's a lovely place and the food is good, just very big. We could've had one steak between 3 of us, no weights on the menu, just thought it was expensive!! We wasted lots of food ☹️
The Delmonico steak was too fatty, but flavorful, service was great, prices were ok, the wine (Vault) was outstanding! But I'm not sure if I'd go back? Maybe for wine and appetizers.
Great place - food was outstanding
Went here as part of our honeymoon and it is absolutely amazing! The decor is beautiful and the staff are extremely attentive. We decided to go for the New York strip and the salmon and it was the first place I had been asked how I liked my salmon cooked !
The New York strip was to die for and the salmon was cooked exactly to what I asked .
We were not intending on eating desert but couldn’t pass up the creme brûlée and the apple crumble
Would go back here again in a shot !!!
Enjoyed this restaurant. The food was good and the service was, as well. It was a little on the pricey side, but to be expected in nyc. The strip steak was cooked perfectly and was a nice cut. Not the best I’ve ever had, but very good and nothing to complain about. The appetizers we had (calamari, bacon, and tuna tartare) were all very good. Bacon was the best. It was a little on the quiet side, but was nice ambiance. The vault room was interesting and the bar area was decorated traditionally.
Food was excellent and ambiance was perfect. Service was good until my steak came out over cooked. I mentioned to the server and he quickly came back at me and he said “it was cooked perfectly madame”. Well, no it wasn’t. I ordered medium rare and it came out medium well and for the price of the Delmonico ~ I expect perfection. The server NEVER came back to ask how everything was once our food was served, so I mentioned to the manager that my steak was over cooked. Unapologetically, he grabbed my plate and then sent another guy to deliver the new one which by the way, was not the Delmonico steak. No one ever came back to check on us or refill our water. We sat for 10 min after we were done (with dirty plates in front of us). Slava, finally returned and passed out dessert menu~ not saying a single word. At this point, we wanted to leave. I again motioned for him to come over indicating we wanted the check. He brought it. Never said thank you or even asked if we wanted dessert (I had indicated on the reservation that we were celebrating my daughter’s 15th birthday and that was NEVER even acknowledged). He again , in silence, brought the check. We paid and thought WHAT ON EARTH JUST HAPPENED. This was a let down. We are in NYC from Texas celebrating my daughter’s birthday and couldn’t wait to try this place. Oh well, we tried it and because of the service ~ we will never recommend it.
I was hosting a dinner to celebrate the end of a 6 week tour
Tried shrimp cocktail didn’t enjoy. Also tried the filet which was good.
Cozy, friendly, good food. We had a great experience... before heading off to the MSG for an amazing concert. Dinner chez B&B was an excellent intro.
Very nice restaurant, very particular location, dining next to safety deposit boxes and inside a vault is a great feeling. Meat dishes were delicious
What an amazing place!!
History on display and without researching steak places, I would have had no idea about it as you can't exactly walk by it on the street.
From the moment we arrived, right up until leaving (pausing first to take photos of the vault mechanism), the service was outstanding. Wait staff were all very attentive without being overbearing.
The food was amazing with the exception of the duck potato cake, it was sooo much more than amazing - if you go, you must have it.
