Our favorite neighborhood restaurant. Food is consistently delicious and a relaxed ambiance. Very noisy but it is a small restaurant -
The entire staff was extremely nice, welcoming, and attentive. Food was distinct, even in NYC, and was quite good. We recommend Bustan for a great meal
I’ll definitely be back here again! Wonderful food, wonderful service, and wonderful ambiance! Bustan is an awesome place.
Always, such a great experience. Food consistently good and tasty. Comfortable and fun atmosphere... Def need to go more often
We liked the vegetarian-friendly menu, but also that it features plenty of great choices for those who are not vegetarian! The food quality and our drinks were all very good. Aisha was a wonderful server and was helpful and sweet.
Staff were very accommodating when we were there for brunch on Sunday to celebrate an 85th birthday. Everyone in the restaurant went out of their way to be nice and we had a wonderful meal and a great time. I will return soon!
Was looking for a terrific Israeli/mediterranean style restaurant in upper west side, and came across Bustan. Did not disappoint -- excellent selections, fresh ingredients, well curated wine list, friendly and attentive staff.
Great brunch menu... enjoyed the food and service for a later Sunday brunch.
Great place to catch up with old friends!
The food was as bland as it could’ve been. We ordered three different entree dishes and couldn’t finish/eat any of them with joy. It was an enormous waste of money.
Poor food has gone downhill
Staff and manager very accomodating. Staff made the experience exceptional. Excellent food and well represented Mediterranean choices. By Ohio Standards pricey but moderate for NYC. They could have a more robust beer selection esp. on tap. Many of the beer offerings on the menu were not available. Great experience.
The menu is overpriced for what you get, in my opinion. Especially since you can get the same from Hummus Kitchen for ~5 cheaper per plate and it is just as good. Drinks were good, should have a happy hour special though since $14 per drink is steep for most people! Food was good but nothing to write home about, I definitely wouldn't go back unless they dropped their prices.
The service and ambience was awful. Everyone was rude to us and unhelpful. Waited over an hour for food. Terrible experience overall.
The ambiance is nice but service was bad, the food took over an hour to come out. The food is overpriced and bland. Not worth waiting your time trying this place.
On an earlier lunch visit, my guest and I had the loveliest waiter, Jesse H. Between his manner and the food, I wanted to return.
This time the food was still very good but Saturday night is a busy night so the restaurant was loud and terribly crowded. Table was too small for 3 people eating family style with dishes being placed atop two others. Our table was next to the greet station and there were too many people allowed to wait next to our table. When one customer tried to get by, he knocked over a dish, spilling oil on the table, floor and one of my guests. So many people next to our table that it took a while to get the attention of a restaurant person to help us clean up the mess. No forthcoming gesture of help to my guest with oil stains in his shoes and clothes. Manager looked at my table but said and did nothing.
We had to wait for 30 minutes to be seated and then for about an hour to get our food! The waiter was trying to be nice but that’s about it. The service was really bad from the beginning. We would not go there again.
I love this restaurant. The food is amazing. Love the Australian Lamb Chopsticks. Yummie. Will come back.
We have been here several times and never disappointed. The food is great and the service is both excellent and friendly. There is also a nice little outdoor garden which is warm in winter (covered over). Noise level depends on whether you are inside (fairly loud) or outside (quiet).
Service was oddly overbearing and too pushy and yet very slow.
Exquisitely presented food and delicious from start to finish. The noise level was perfect for intimate conversation and the service was attentive and friendly without ever being intrusive. We'll definitely be back!
I have dined here before so I brought my parents here to celebrate my mother's birthday. When I asked for the check, they added a 20% gratuity, which is illegal. It doesn't state on the menu that they add gratuity for parties of 3 or more. More over, when I have been there before with the a group of three people they never did add gratuity at all. This was definitely racial profiling. Why do I know this? Because, I have worked in the restaurant industry for years and I have seen my fellow colleagues do this on numerous occasions, which is very wrong.
Never again, Bustan! You spoiled a nice time for me and my family on such a special occasion.
Went for an anniversary and made a reservation a few days in advance. Upon arrival, was offered a "special table" which sounded like they were going out of their way for our anniversary. Hostess referred to it as the "chef table"...which is apparently restaurant code for the table across from the kitchen. This table will be extremely busy with servers gathering next to your table. It will be very warm with the heat from the kitchen making your dining experience very uncomfortable.
Sadly, we were in and out in 45 minutes. When we provided this feedback to the same hostess earlier, she simply said, "thank you for telling me."
Anyhow, our previous experience here was great. Lesson learned..."chef table" = bad.
outstanding service, terrific food, intimate space and cozy ambience - highly recommend!
Love this place, and it never disappoints. Nuri the manager is spectacular; the food is just wonderful; service unobtrusive and responsive. Nothing bad to say at all. I go often with friends and I will continue to go often.
Nice restaurant. Food was good. Main course was overpriced.
Only complaint is that the music is too loud and makes dining less pleasant
We each had eggs. They were both over down and rubbery. When told the waiter just agreed and took the food away. The service was horrible. I will not go back
Upon arriving for our reservation, the hostess informed me that because it was a busy night, they would need the table back by 8 pm. I looked to see if maybe we were late for our reservation because that seemed so odd to me. We were right on time. That set the tone for the whole meal. The food was ok. Dessert was great and the servers were attentive, though. We ate fast to accommodate the restaurant and would have been out by 8 if they had not taken a while to bring our dessert. Perhaps we shouldn’t have ordered dessert to be more accommodating. We were out by 8:04. Sorry for the inconvenience, guys.
Super professional and accommodating front desk staff, attentive server and exceptionally good food. Satisfies vegetarian daughter , fish - loving daughter in law and meat - craving son.
Excellent food, attentive service, not rushed, nice interior and lighting - all in all, a very pleasant dinner!
Lively atmosphere, food was very good all around. We’ll go after the lamb chops next time over the lamb terracotta. The saganaki, baba and taziki apps were solid. Good wine / cocktail options. We had a little trouble communicating with our waitress given the noise, but we’ll be back. This will be a go-to for us on the UWS dining in the 70-80s.
Thanks! Great meal and overall experience, as always!
Way too noisy!
Excellent pre Lincoln center choice reachable by foot, subway or taxi. The portions can be large so we shared four dishes which worked out perfectly: (i) shrimp; (ii) greek salad; (iii) flatbread: and (iv) tuna as the entree. Good wine by the glass and cappucino finished it off. Will definitely return.
We loved it! We came (late) for lunch and though the kitchen was soon to close (3 p.m.), we had a friendly welcome and were not made to feel rushed . The food was very good; the menu changes completely for dinner and we hope to return. Our waiter was at the end of his shift and made sure that all was well at our table before he left; the manager was charming and informative. Our experience was thoroughly delightful.
Very expensive food, poorly flavored, missing salt, stingy with bread/pita. Very disappointing
I've been to Bustan several times and it's always a good standby option. Great food and great, friendly service.
My new favorite restaurant on the upper west side ! Loved the appetizer selection and the lamb chops were amazing!! Will definitely go back- comfortable and friendly environment.
I've never written an OpenTable review before, but I am moved to do so in the case of Bustan because of the wonderful service we received. The servers we had were more friendly, attentive and warm than any I've seen in a long time, and I go out to eat a lot! Plus the food was very good and the place is lovely with nice ambiance. But really -- what a standout for service. I brought my friend in to celebrate her birthday and I wasn't spending a whole lot of money (no booze), but they were completely lovely to me anyway, and set up her birthday surprise ahead of time. Very thoughtful.
