Great overall experience. I went specifically for okonomiyaki - "Japanese soul food", and it was well done! A bit too heavy on the sauce (too sweet), and not enough mayo - but cooked well w/ fresh ingredients. We rounded it off with some small bites (asparagus roll, agedashi tofu, and veggie tempura) - which were delish, but not outstanding. Attentive & friendly service, and a cozy but interesting environment.
Delish food with awesome service compliments of Lucy my server. This place prides themselves on being ocean wise and sustainable in their choices. Unique dishes a MUST try like the Uni risotto or their ramen bowls. YUMM
Okonomyaki is delicious! I held the Bonito flakes... Last time they were too fishy for me
Very good food and the servers were exceptional. Live jazz in the background made for great ambiance. Would definitely recommend!
I learned about Okonomiyaki at this restaurant and now I am addicted to it.
Went for a nice lunch with art mom friends. Carleen, Laurie and Jennifer all ordered the Onomoyaki. I ordered the bento with agedashi and tonkatsu...was very yummy esp the agedashi. The service was good and menu had a great, authentic selection. Will definitely go back.
Very good service with ok sushi . Very unclean place . Bathrooms are so unclean .
Rainbow was good - Tempura, Goyza and dynamite roll were disappointing
Really had to hunt down the male server and noticed so did everyone else. It was as if he thought standing to the side watching everyone was being attentive. But food was great. So I suppose a trade off.
Sashimi was very fresh and tasty. Overall food was good. If they have a kids menu, that would be even better.
Food was delicious. Waitress was attentive. Nice place to hangout and catch up with friends and family.
We were pleased with our lunch at Bushido, was a nice day out on the patio. Food was great and service was very friendly .. although not checked on quite as often being outside. We would go back.
We had a group of 10 and they were very accommodating. The table was ready when we got there and we had to make an 8:00 show and they made sure everyone was served.
our first time visiting here but not impressed. Sushi was definitely not as good as Fuki. A request we made to leave some of off one of the rolls was not done but we were told "no problem."
Must have the Japanese pancake!!
Bushido roll is good too
In the heart of Mountain View. Great tasting food and very attentive, non-intrusive friendly service. We have come several times for Family occasions, business luncheons, or to grab a Casual bite to eat. I enjoy getting several starters and the Okonomiaki. The ramen is enjoyable too if you want some soup. I love this place!
We have been long time fans of Bushido and have enjoyed immensely its ascent as a top-rated izakaya. A lot of this was due to Executive Chef Isamu Kanai, who emphasized sustainably caught sashimi, especially ocean trout. His meshi dishes with unagi were as delicious as they were authentic. Alas, with Chef Kanai's departure and exacting standards, the food quality has declined. The chef's assorted sashimi included previously frozen tuna that had lost its texture and flavor, even being a bit watery on the serving plate. The pork belly meshi was OK, but included way too many conflicting flavors. Gone also were the wonderfully delicious sashimi dishes in ponzu sauce with garlic and other garnishes. There were some new dishes--the garlic soy sauce buttered corn was delicious as a side dish. We had a new server who was not familiar with the menu, but we understand how difficult it is to find good restaurant staff in today's economy. Our hope is that the owner Steve Chen will find a new chef who can help rebuild and refine the culinary reputation that his restaurant had worked so hard to earn and achieve.
Best Japanese Restaurant in Mountian View, well worth the drive. I recommend the Sukiyaki and Beef Curry.
Service was super slow and not at all experienced. Young and not very intelligent
Great food, except the spicy cauliflower was a little too spicy for our taste :-)
We were celebrating our daughter's b'day, it was our first time at Bushido. Our server was amazing and gave us some great options since we told her we were vegetarians. She also checked on us a few times to make sure everything was going well. At the end of our dinner, she surprised us w/ a dessert for our daughter w/ a candle for her b'day. All in all, a wonderful experience!
2 thumbs up for the all great lucy and lysa. Food very good too. Happy day happy me happy food
Fun place with a diverse menu of small plates. Service is very good.
The food is great especially the yakatori. It could get a bit loud and busy and make sure you make reservation on the weekend
great sushi, great cooked food as well. the dining room was a bit loud, which made conversation a little hard, but overall a fine restaurant.
Fantastic happy hour selections and some really creative and delicious Japanese cuisine.
Three of us dined and we enjoyed it. The pork belly buns were our favorite. We thought all of the dishes were good with our least favorite being the okonomiyaki preparation. Even though okonomiyaki is the house special, there was too much sweet sauce on it and the pancake did not seem like it was cooked through because it was very mushy, unlike any other okonomiyakis that I've had at other restaurants; maybe it was just that night however. Otherwise, we really enjoyed the mushroom fried rice, grilled squid, eggplant, chicken skewer, and again those great pork belly buns! Since it's izakaya style, there are a wide variety of different types of dishes to try, unlike many of the standard Japanese restaurants. It's a nice place to go to.
Delicious. Our server was a delight. Loved the tempura and chef's sample plate.
My friends and I had a pleasant experience at Bushido. We were given a complimentary healthy portion of edamame. The birthday gal enjoyed her meal. I liked the misoyaki cod, but the Brussels sprouts were practically raw and therefore hard to chew, and there were two tiny cubes of tofu in my miso soup. The third person had the agedashi tofu and the pork belly. She felt that the sauces were too similar and salty.
Not impressed. It wasn't busy but our food took so long to come out, so long we even had to cancel certain items.
Food was good, and we enjoyed sitting outside. The big drawback to this meal was that our food came out in many different phases with long gaps in between. My husband and son were done with their food before my entree even arrived, and my side dish took much longer even than that. I had the impression from the server that he'd forgotten my food all together, but he offered no compensation or apology beyond saying that he hoped I'd enjoyed my meal regardless of the delay.
The restaurant serves sustainable seafood and so many common items typically found on sushi menus are not available.
Given the poor service we received, I can't recommend this restaurant.
We celebrated my husband's birthday here with a group of friends.
The servers were friendly and accomodating . We probably ordered a little bit of everything since we were such a large group and they have great small plates. Everyone enjoyed themselves. Thank you for a wonderful evening!
Great fresh, sustainable fish. The variety of dishes is wonderful. You can find anything for almost every food taste
Very good ambiance - indoor & outdoor seating. The pork buns were amazing and not the usual kind I get. We went here to try the okonomiyaki (one of our favorite dishes - we've tried in several different places), which was good but not amazing. I prefer a softer texture - this seemed a little too crunchy and hard to separate. We also had a California roll, which was okay as well. I would definitely go back to try different plates. Overall, 4/5!
Sat outside and service was definitely lacking. Appetizers came at random times (one after we were done eating) and our three entrees were served 5 minutes apart. Very disappointed...
Decent Japanese Izakaya with good sushi.
Had not ben there for over a year and not surprised that the food and service was remarkable as ever.
It was a very good dining experience, especially for a group. Everyone in my group loved the small tapas-like dishes.
The food was in the upper 25% of Japanese restaurants, with a wide variety of cooked and uncooked selections.
The quality of the food was quite good, but the service was intolerably slow. We waited for more than an hour for the sushi/sashimi dishes. While the waitress asked if we wanted everything together or bring it out when ready, we didn't realize it would be a 45 minute difference between the hot food (which came out at a very reasonable time) and the cold food (sushi/sashimi) came out.
I am also a little surprised that they did not offer any complimentary food for those waiting for such a long time.
Finally, the portions served for the sashimi were amongst the smallest I have seen, given the moderately high prices.
