About Permanently Closed - Busalacchi's A Modo Mio
This restaurant is permanently closed. We opened this restaurant in 1986 for Joe to showcase his culinary talents and to have a place for our customers to come to have a fine meal and always feel "at home." We carefully select our staff so that they become a part of our family and then in turn, you do too!
After spending much time in our restaurants, our son Joey decided that he, too, wanted to become a part of them. We feel so confident in his skills that we have now turned the management of Busalacchi's over to him.
Please enjoy your time with us, and if there is anything at all that we can do for you please do not hesitate to ask. We want you to have a memorable dining experience at Busalacchi's.

Busalacchi's A Modo Mio - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
What happened to the great wine list?? An Italian restaurant that has 4 bottles of Italian wine?? (They were sold out of three).
It's been about 10 years and the old location that I visited last, but needless to say it has gone downhill. Service was great, appetizers were good, but the seafood fettuccine was truly lacking, as were the butternut squash raviolis and the pork tenderloin. I should've just ordered the bolognese.
We had amazing service by Mario on a very quiet Friday night. The pace that Mario set for our meal was perfect for a quiet conversation for a friends meet-up. He did not rush us despite being one of the only tables seated. The food was great and well prepared- fantastic meatballs as an appetizer started the home-cooked pasta special and tasty salads. I would definitely go again when back in San Diego!
Always a nice evening! Service is friendly and attentive. Food is very good but inconsistent. My favorites are always enjoyable but often prepared variably.
No live music tonight because they were out of town... no back up plans?
Nonetheless a very nice 4 instead of 5... I'll come back again soon.
The restaurants' predecessor resturant (same name) website was misleading. The "old " website listed masacholli as an entree - no such thing at the current restaurant. Wine list was misleading. Monday is half off bottle of wine-----over $40 night. I thought I heard the saver say it was half off.
We had a great dinner, but it was rather costly.
I always have such a fantastic time here. The food is wonderful and the staff is friendly and attentive. On weekends they have live music on the beautiful patio-- so fun! This is definitely a great spot for a romantic date night or for a family and friend celebration. Be sure to make reservation because this place can fill up. Patio is heated and cozy and indoor dining is romantic.
Was there for NYE and pricing was reasonable, place not crowded. We were greeted warmly and got to choose our table. Service attentive. Thoughtful enough to wrap our take home in plastic so it would not leak enroute. Garlic bread was great but the rest of the meal was just good to somewhat disappointing. Halibut piccata with mushrooms was not seasoned well enough and the fillet was too dense to be fresh (probably frozen). Pork osso bucco was very tender but surprisingly bland and the bed fettucine was overcooked to my taste. The lemon cheese cake was good with a nice presentation. Overall, a relaxing meal in an attractive, European-styled setting that begs for a better chef at the helm.
Great Christmas eve dinner for six. This is the second time I've been there in several
months, and both experiences were top notch. Loved the saltimbocca, and I wish I
could make salad dressing so light, yet flavorful. The waiters were efficient, congenial
and humorous. Now my son-in-laws favorite place to go! Thank you
Lasagne was over-sauced and very loose. It was not worth the price. The sauce on the Pasta Pomodoro was also off and over-sauced. The table next to us was very loud. We had a choice of a table next to young kids, table near the bar, or next to the loud family. The food was off. Usually have liked this place, but I was turned off this summer when the caprese salad contained cardboard tomatoes. The short rib appetizer was delicious as was my pasta with clams. Service was EXCELLENT.
This is one of our favorite places. I wish that it got more business. Although the last few times we have gone have been during the week. So it quiet. I think weekends the have live music and a nice HH. I get the same thing every time because it's a great value and very good. The Granchio. The sauce it good and they give you so much lump crab meat and a soft shell crab. They also have really good bread with marinara.
We enjoyed a meal before the theater. Location was great and parking was fairly easy with the bank lot next door open after business hours for $5. Our meal we delicious and the service was excellent. The only thing that would have made it better is table cloths covering the older wooden tables. That is just a pet peeve of ours as we have noticed more and more restaurants moving away from using table cloths.
Enjoyed our meal--special wasn't prepared exactly as I had hoped, but it was still good (seafood pasta dish). My friend's eggplant was wonderful. Service was a little slow, but only for the entrees. Salad and appetizer were delivered quickly, so we didn't mind waiting for the meal. Server (Mario) was delightful and even paid for our drinks (1 each) when he realized that the special had not been prepared with cappellini as I had asked. So, we will definitely go back.
I've been to Busalacci's 5 or 6 times and each time it seems like it's been slowly going down hill. This last experience was the last time I go there.
The service is very polite and timely so no complaints there, but the food wasn't good at all. The calamari was under seasoned and under cooked...ugh. The seafood pasta entree tasted fine but the chicken piccata was again bland, and the pasta bolognese was weird: they served it with the traditional meat sauce but also sausages on the side. And according to our dining companion, the sausages were "gamey" and "disgusting". I don't know if they were trying to get rid of old meat or if the kitchen just didn't know what traditional bolognese is.
Either way it failed badly. We won't be going back.
We visited Busalacchi's after purchasing their Groupon. My husband and I love Italian food and thought his would be a great place for our anniversary. They offer seasonal plates, which we tried and loved. They have a central fire pit that you can eat around, and have a great bar. Live music every Saturday.
It was a great place to eat and the staff was wonderful. We stayed for dessert and coffee because we were enjoying ourselves so much.
I went with friends before going to the theater. We sat on the patio ... very nice, comfortable. The service was excellent as was the food. Would gladly recommend to friends. In fact, one of us had her first date with her husband of 15 years that this restaurant. Obviously a perfect a place to be with friends.
The bar tender was amazing, the food was on point, but our waiter was very grouchy and he didn't want to serve us. We think it's because we had a groupon, but we felt very out of place. I would go back because I think the restaurant is great, but I think they should really think about their staff. If I find out that we are in his section, we will definitely ask to move.
Happy was until 6:30, although we came for dinner. We arrived at 6:25 and were served at 6:35 and told we could not order a happy hour drink.
Then my friend and I asked to split two entrees. The said they'd have to charge for it. Left a bitter taste in our mouths.
