This is by far our favorite local vineyard. Great wine, beautiful view, amazing people. We are partial to their Pinot and Cab Franc. They seat outside with heaters close by. It's pretty COVID safe and a lovely way to get out of the house and enjoy really, really good local wine.

We were warmly received. They served the wines to be tasted in a COVID safe manner and the wines were quite good. We received our shipment and got on our way. No food, of course.

Wine is good, service is excellent, setting/ambiance beautiful. We were there at sunset and the setting sun on the fall colored rolling vineyards and hills was absolutely awesome while sipping on wine.

This is one of my favorite places to enjoy. I went at 4pm on Sunday and it couldn’t have been more fun and a beautiful time of day to stare out at the mountains. Great people and great wine.

Lovely wine tasting experience!
Burrell is one of several wineries on Summit Road in Los Gatos Hills. We went for a paid tasting Sat afternoon.
Access is a bit rough, as you drive up a gravel road to a small parking lot that is tough to navigate given the incline. As we walked up the winery, we saw a lot of equipment and wine barrels lying around -- some might consider this atmospheric, but it also gave a run-down look which didn't feel great.
As we walked up the stairs, a man came out and asked us gruffly if we had a reservation. We did and he pointed to where we were already going. Not a smile or a greeting. Very unprofessional. There is a patio with some tables to sit and look over the vineyard (and another seating area in a rose garden out back). They sat us in a corner near the entrance, which did not feel great. When we asked to be moved, they were unfriendly once again, saying the other table couldn't accommodate us, when it clearly could.
It was a hot day, and there was no shade to go around. The view was not bad, but they could have done more to make the patio more comfortable and viewing-friendly. Nonetheless, once the tasting started, we got more friendly hosts. They served us well, though without much context / discussion and often they would forget where we were in the tasting. Wines themselves were quite forgettable.
After the tasting, we walked around a bit, but there is not much to see, nor have they made any effort to make this visitor friendly. Out front, there is a sign about the historic school building, but no way to look inside to get more context.
All in all, it was an underwhelming experience. Place felt run down, people felt unfriendly, wines were ordinary. Only saving grace was that tasting was only $15/person, cheap enough for 5 tastings.
Won't be back here. Wrights Station and Loma Prieta are finer options in the same neighborhood.

Loved everything at Burrell School. Lots of fun and even educational. Watched a wine punch down going on. Also enjoyed the school history.
Burrell is one of my favorite wine tasting places to go! The best is go up to summit market and get a Sandwich then sit and enjoy amazing red wine. The staff is always amazing and they have great prices. The school is open to look at. They have a new garden as well. Kid friendly also which is nice for us working ppl who can’t get away!

My GF and I decided to enjoy our Sunday during this Pandemic by taking an outing to a few wineries in the Santa Cruz Mountains. This was our second and final stop and also our first official visit to Burrell School. The reservation on Open Table was en easy process and an overall 5 Star experience. Our host/server wore a mask and was very polite. He went over out list with ease and strong knowledge on the wines. Also telling us about the history behind the school house on the property. I would definitely recommend this conveniently placed winery to all my friends and family. You can bet we will be back for more wining!

Burrell school on a summer afternoon is a great place for wine tasting and relaxation but remember to bring your own cheese and salami.
I only rated food low so I could move on. They did not serve food. But everything else was great! Friendly, welcoming, good wine and terrific view on a beautiful day. We couldn't have asked for more
Burrell school has truly adapted well to the changes as counties roll through different measures regarding COVID-19. They offered an exceptional get away option with above standard service. It’s always a pleasure to get to visit the winery and walk amongst the vines and the rose gardens.
This is a winery that only serves wine. But it is a winery that serves delicious wine and has wonderful customer service. Each wine in the flight served has a wonderful story and name. Take the time to have a futures tasting when that is available. Dave and staff, you are great.
Beautiful location, lovely patio overlooking the mountains and vineyards. The wine was tasty (old school cab was my fave!)

Burrell is a nice small casual winery with great wine at reasonable prices. The historic property and super friendly staff immediately made you feel comfortable. If you do not like pretentious overpriced wineries, Burrell is a great place to come, and close from SJ area. Ask for Rich. He was great to talk to and we even joined the wine club and left with a case of wine! Looking forward to going back soon.

Burrell School is a charming, casual vineyard with excellent wine! They do not sell food, but you can bring your own picnic basket and enjoy a meal- even with your dog!
This was a wine tasting at the winery, so food quality is irrelevant. Wine quality, on the other hand...
