This place is a gem. The decor makes you feeling at home (an elegant one!). Service is professional, attentive and never obsequious. Many thanks to our waitress (Jeanie) as well the hostess who gave us a very nice table.
Our meal was spectacular; my snapper served with its rouille on a ratatouille bed was perfectly cooked; my wife had the scallops and the presentation was a original and beautiful. We enjoyed also a nice selection of appetizers (salmon tartar) and finished with a delicious ice cream trio.
Very decent selection of wines at an affordable cost.
We will be back for sure.

I will say the food is excellent, but the service is “lost in translation”. This is our experience. We had two choices for seating with our reservation; inside by the server station or outside in the corner. We chose outside. Unfortunately, the commercial heaters were blowing high as we hit a severe low cold of 65 degrees. I was getting roasted and asked if they could turn the heater down or turn a fan on. Remember corner seating with no air moving. This turns into the server asking every table is they were ok with my suggestion. We order a bottle of Frog Leap, great Zinfandel, and bacon blue salad to share. Our entrees were the Tenderloin and Cripsyskin salmon with a side of sautéed Brussel sprouts. We get our wine and shortly after the salad and Brussel sprouts. Weird to get our side early. We held off eating them because they were for the meal and the server suggested putting them under the heater. We asked for bread three times, nothing. We got the entree which were very good and they server brought the sprouts back from the heater. They were dried up the sauce was the same and now hardened. So I asked about them and she said this was not the “side” but the appetizer. I mentioned I ordered the side and not the app and preferred the side. It arrives after our meal with two pieces of bread. We did get dessert which was the brown butter pecan pie, awesome!. So the bill comes. No side on the ticket but she still wants to charge me for the appetizer. Also there is a plate charge or $3 to split. Seriously, first let us know, and secondly does that plate really cost $3 to run through dishwasher. Very tacky.
This was a $200 meal for two with tip. Way over priced and for that amount you would think the server could bring the correct items in the correct timely fashion and maybe some bread with our meal. We did notice the server was mainly inside so maybe we were just the lone lost table.
Reservations were at 7:45 just FYI. There are many great restaurants try another.

We went for Valentine’s day and felt we’d made an excellent choice. It was a little pricey, but for a special occasion we enjoyed the celebration. I had the veal cheeks and my husband ordered the 8 oz. beef tenderloin. Nice presentation. Excellent quality.

Overall, a great experience! Although Valentine's Day and a fixed price menu, the selection, quality and service were excelent! On probably the most difficult restaurant night of the year, they exceded our expectations. Quite possibly, our new favorite restaurant in Fernandina Beach.

Lovely ambience. Not over done. There are several rooms, so none gets too loud.
Incredible upscale wine selection.
Food was flavourful and cooked to perfection.
Service was impeccable (Nina). An equal balance of friendly and discreet.

A comfortable farm to table dining experience. The menu is limited, but well prepared. Small comfortable dining room with a moderate noise level. We had the Salmon and the Porchetta. The porchetta was a particularly creative preparation. Instead of fall off the bone pork roast, it was roasted, then sliced and served as single thick sliced round of barbecued “steak.” I think it was finished in a hot skillet. Exceptional flavors plus a nice crust. The starch sides (corn bread for the pork and stuffed pasta for the salmon) were small but tasty. Our waitress was on her first night. Friendly, but not yet fully competent on the menu. Limited wine by the glass and craft beer selections. All in all a very good experience.

Had not visited Burlingame before but celebrated with my sister using a gift certificate I received over the holidays. The ambiance was quiet and charming and the service was attentive but not overly so.
The menu was very clear about all the ingredients in each plate so you could choose your favorite options. We found ourselves spending quite a good bit of time pouring over selections because of the details! Lots of fresh ingredients and spices used. Once our selections were made the food was excellent and dinner was memorable.

Even though I enjoy cooking, my recommendation would be to offer some simple fare without all the extra touches. I found myself selecting my entree by process of elimination of the ingredients that I do or don't like. Actually, this is why I haven't been to this restaurant before--after perusing the menu on the door once or twice, ---each dish looked just too fussy. I plan to give Burlingame another try in the Spring when new fresh ingredients are in season.

Found this place to be a class act. Cold evening compelled us to dine inside and the dining room was a very attractive setting. Wait staff friendly and professional. We were pleased with everything from the cocktails through the delicious lemon pie dessert. Looking forward to returning in warmer weather for seating outside. Perfect dining experience for our last night on Amelia Island.

We chose Burlingame after doing a bit of research on area restaurants. We enjoy farm to table food, interesting wines and spirits, charm and attentive yet unobtrusive service. Burlingame hit most of those marks. The food was outstanding. Well prepared and attractively plated. We ordered veal cheeks and snapper with Brussel sprouts as a side. The veal melted in your mouth. The accompanying veggies were seasonal and nicely grilled. The snapper was light and flaky with a great exterior crisp. Very nice. The side was super fresh, and plainly prepared bringing out the taste of the sprouts, not covering up their freshness.

The restaurant is cute, in an old home, with a few separate dining areas. I found the noise level in the front parlor a bit loud, yet there was a party of 7 or 8 in the room; their voices resonated a bit. The server was ok; we felt they might be new at waiting tables as they seemed to lack confidence when answering our questions. The wine list was interesting and pretty extensive yet no one offered any help in that regard. We didn’t ask, yet I felt there could’ve been an offer of help at the onset of the meal.

All in all, we would recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates fresh, beautifully prepared food. For everyday dining or a special occasion. The food was so lovely, we can overlook the few service issues.

This was a restaurant week visit to Burlingame with a prix fixe set meal. The mussels and clams in a delicious broth was an excellent starter with the main entree of veal cheeks braised with grits. Normally I am not a fan of grits, but these were delicious with an amazing sauce. The dessert was a rice pudding with a lemon marmalade which was also delicious. Wine selected was a pinot noir from Santa Lucia Higlands--Monterrey area of California, which was fruit forward and delicious as we anticipated. Burlingame's wine list is quite varied and very well selected with some excellent values for the quality of wine. Cocktails are very imaginative and tasty. We are only on Amelia Island for 2 winter months but definitely plan to get back before we leave since it is one of our favorites on the Island.

Since I last dined at Burlingame (late August 2018), they’ve added a full bar and specialty cocktails!! The food was innovative and delicious and the Happy Hour menu gave us an opportunity to sample several appetizers in addition to our entres. I had the shrimp and grits, Dad had the salmon, and mom enjoyed the vegetarian sampler. All were excellently prepared and presented. The salted caramel pretzel ice cream topped things off nicely! Our server, Nina, was lovely and helpful! Can’t wait to come back again!!

Came with another couple who had never been. By the time of our arrival we had already ‘apped’, so we went straight to the mains. The wives had shrimp and grits. My wife considers herself a connoisseur of sorts. She is well versed on Charleston cuisine, and opined that this rendition was on of the best she had had (it does not hurt when the kitchen gets to work with Mayport shrimp!). I had the snapper preparation. Snapper is not my favorite fish but I was curious to try this preparation. The kitchen knocked it out of the park as they got the temperature perfect. My fish was hot without being overcooked. AND it was hot on arrival! My friend and business associate ordered the diver scallops and I did not hear a word out of him upon the arrival of his dish. A good sign. To make things perfect the wine list was reasonably priced and contained knowns and unknowns. We were not disappointed!

You will see two posts from me...and yes, it was so good the previous night my wife and I cancelled our other reservation down in Amelia Island Plantation to do dinner there again! Nice take on shrimp and grits...like the sausage and okra. Pecan pie was absolutely the best I have had. Almost all pecans, no gelatin mush, with the kind of crust that makes you eat every crumb. Will see them again in a few months when back on island.

Each of us enjoyed our meals. Braised scallops over fantastic rice dish. Filet with scalloped potatoes was tender and perfectly cooked. Would go back for this same meal anytime. The restaurant is set in a private home type setting. Very nicely designed with separate and comfortable dining areas.
