I don't know what happened to this place but my wife and got the worst service experience ever. We got in @ 9:15 and asked if they were serving still, and the hostess said yes. Sat us down, then nothing. Finally we had to ask the Hostess for help, then we finally got a waitress, who took our drink order, but never followed through. We even asked if we could get the table wiped down because it was so sticky, and nothing. You know, it wasn't even that busy. I frequented B44 for 2 years consistently (usually for their dollar Oyster special) before the remodel and never had a problem. We're not going back.
This used to be my favorite restaurant until Sunday night. The service was excellent, but what happened to the kitchen? Brussels sprouts were greasy with way too much olive oil and when I sent them back to cook them crispy, they returned in 5 minutes the same. Cauliflower curry was overcooked and mediocre. The short ribs were nice. I am so sad that the kitchen went from 5 star, to 2. Bring back the old chef please!
Casual restaurant. One room includes the bar area and open view of the kitchen. Modern decor. Excellent food and service. Flatbread was a great starter. Next we enjoyed the Brussels Sprouts salad. Entree Pork Chop was great, as was their Kickin' Fried Chicken. Good find in downtown Mill Valley.
a long time favorite-service was outstanding and food excellent-
It can be VERY noisy on weekend nites
OK experience. Food was good. Service, ok. Nothing extrodinary. Seemed a little rushed. Nice place.
We love the short ribs there, BUT they've changed how they're prepared from shredded meat with garlic mashed to a more French style with braised chunks with vegetables. Not as good as the former preparation and therefore a major disappointment for us.
The food is delicious, but not inexpensive. The restaurant can be noisy Saturday nights and prime time on Sunday, but if you ask for the back room, it is always quiet there.
Very lively, fun atmosphere, good food, fantastic town to stroll after dinner!
My Friend chose Bungalow 44 to go for his birthday. We both had the Kickin Fried Chicken which was delicious! The chicken was crunchy and juicy, mash potatoes creamy and yummy! We also shared the butterscotch pudding and the Sticky Toffee cake, both were heavenly. The service was great! Our waitress was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The main dining room was very lively but we were seated in the covered outside area and it was perfect!
Kicking fried chicken was the best..thanks to open table reservations were so appreciated!
Great food and service. Ambiance is nice and dark inside with a great outside area with heat lamps.
Order the Beef and Gnocchi dish...it was the ultimate comfort meal!
Fabulous food, comfortable seating, but oh the noise level!
Loved everything but too loud. Bar is in the restaurant which doesn't help sound level.
Went to celebrate a Major Birthday: got there for happy hour to take advantage of oysters on the half-shell at a dollar each, along with some Italian sausage flatbread, washed down with the Bungalow's Manahattan-for-Two Special. The oysters (as always!) were terrific, the drink fabulous, the flatbread hot and savory and filling. Love the Bungalow! (AND we can walk there!)
Our favorite restaurant for an early dinner before the theatre. Oysters are a special bargain at $1 each before 6. Our waitress introduced us to the Hamachi Poppers, which were divine.
Excellent brunch! Had a fab time and food was amazing - salmon scramble, beignets, croquets and eggs Benedict delicious!!
The place was packed with people and very loud! Ambiance is ok. Just
A room with tables and a bar.
Our server was ok, not interested in
Us at all. She spent most of the night chatting with the table next to us and looking at pics on their phone. No need to go back .
2nd time at this restaurant and I love it more than the first if that's possible. The menu is outstanding and cocktails are very unique. Great food and good people. Staff is incredible attentive. Overall great experience. I will definitely be back.
OVERPRICED FOR WHAT YOU GOT. I HAD A SKIMPY SERVING OF DRY, GRILLED HALIBUT, RAW CARROTS INSTEAD OF COOKED, FOUR TINY PIECES OF POTATOES, AND SOMETHING ELSE I COULDN'T EAT. A GLASS OF CHAARDONNAY WAS NOT WORTH $17.00. I WON'T GO BACK.
I always order wrong here. You are pretty safe with the burger
- and the kid's burger is an amazing value if you have a kid in tow. My dish (zucchini spaghetti) was ruined by burnt garlic in the dish. My mother in law won the ordering process with the braised short ribs. Fried chicken is ok - not as good as *mine*, but since I only make it once a year, i would get a bucket to go some time.
Food was bland and expensive. Service was good but the place is noisy as well
We eat here frequently, and are generally positive about it. However, the noise level is getting to be too much. Impossible to hold a cross table conversation. You know the cartoon about two people in a restaurant conversing by cell phone? This is about it.
Bungalow 44 is our favorite and regular place to eat out - we live on the Tiburon Peninsula so it is easy to get to - the staff are wonderful - warm and welcoming - food is great - the fried chicken is outstanding - highly recommended - S&JE
Noisy, but being older we are more sensitive to that.
Server forgot to serve us our wine. Halfway through our entree she came by to check and I reminded her. She did comp the wine for us. Food was OK but not delicious. Parking is a problem on weekends
Potatoes were inedible. Menu aid fingerling delivered creamy new but very mooshy. Its hardto make bad poratoes but they did. Waitress apologized but damage done
I did not get my sparkling upon several request. I feel protrude
Great service from hostess, bar, servers. Food always delicious -- especially appetizers
They treat you like the most important person in joint. Great to double up when seeing show at Sweetwater...
Was good. Many options for vegan at our table. Little diss appointed in freshness of salad greens. Great ambiance
Brought me a salad with something not listed on the menu (which I have an allergy) and then instead of reversing the charge, brought me a terrible substandard version of the salad, which I didn't eat and then ignored us at the bar for the rest of the night.
Bungalow has been consistently delish since its beginning!!!!
So warm and cozy and friendly environ
Always feels like home
WITHOUT THE WORK!!!!!
We adore Bungalow
We love coming here and are never disappointed in service or food
We were in town for the week and stopped in on a rainy Tuesday night on the recommendation of a friend ... what a great find, the most welcoming and enjoyable dining expierience we had all week! Great ambience, service and food ... a true gem in Mill Valley!
This place represents a solid go-to restaurant for just about any occasion. Can be good for a date, or good for friends or family. You can dress it up or dress it down. You can enjoy quiet or be loud. Very comfortable environment.
Food was solid. Everything was good (beets, cauliflower, burger, scallops). Nice presentation, not fancy. Service was terrific. We'll be back.
It was a perfect spot to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday. We had the small dining room with the fireplace and canvas roof. The sound of the rain on the roof was an added bonus. It was the cosiest dinner even though the dining room was bustling. The food was spectacular, the waitress was very knowledgeable and friendly. Overall excellent dinner.
The restaurant was not crowded but we had to ask for water three times. The menu isn't very interesting or exciting. Dinner was over $100 for two including one cocktail each but no dessert which is excessive for this restaurant. There are much better choices nearby.
Outstanding food, quite inventive. Short ribs with gnocchi and horseradish, quite inventive. Service was spot on, I like a non-talkative server. To the point, left us alone just enough so we could decide, had an appropriate wine selection by the glass and didn't push the dessert.
Meeting with friends from LA. We have always had good food and service. However our dinner service was slow, and not timed accordingly. Our salads and entree all came at once. My wife wanted to finish her salad first and when they brought back entree everything was cold and fries were soft. Fried chicken was a bit dry too.
We had to ask for bread, water did not get refilled.
1st time back to this restaurant in awhile and glad to see it is just as popular and excellent as I remember. The food was great the service was good and the atmosphere had a busy vibe. Would certainly be back more often now after trying their octopus app and steak dinner both were perfectly prepared and surprisingly tasty. Would recommend giving it a try
