Bullfinchs Ratings and Reviews
Had seen/heard about Bullfinch's for many years, but had never made the trip out there. Was very pleasantly surprised. Jazz music playing at just the right volume to provide ambiance but not so loud as to be distracting. They were offering flights of three reds from the Pacific Northwest, which were all quite good. Liked how they served coarse sea salt with the bread. I had the short ribs bolognese. Meat was very tender. I've had better bolognese -- favorites are Prezza in North End and old 51 Lincoln and Newton Highlands, but it was solid. My wife had the black and blue filet, which she liked. I plan to try their Sunday brunch, and also want to checking out the weeknight cooking classes. Good stuff!
Three friends getting together - excellent meal - excellent service. We shared the baked brie and the bean spread appetizers, great. I chose the salmon special which was very good but not outstanding. My friends requests for substitutions on a dish were met and improved upon.
The Jack Lantern cocktails with fresh pumpkin were outstanding. Afigatos completed the meal for all 3 of us. This was our second party as a group at Bullfinchs, everbody was very happy.
Love this restaurant! I used to eat here a lot, but moved away. Was excited to try it again, and was not disappointed. We went for Sunday brunch, and there was live music. The music was great, but a bit loud, so Sunday is not the day for quiet intimate conversation. Great for a group, small or large. Lots of good menu choices, and the chef is even willing to make reasonable changes. We had 4 distinctly different eating styles among the 6 of us, and everyone got something they were happy with. To top it off, the service was fabulous.
Had a terrific experience at Bullfinch's for our anniversary! Wait staff was great and they even set up a special table for us. Along with the complimentary desert for our anniversary the food was great! Would recommend it for any type of dining. They had plenty of options for both non-
vegetarians and vegetarians alike.
It was nice enough, but the food was just okay. We got there and they stuck us in a corner so close to another table that the lady at the other table had to actually be moved for me to get up to use the restroom.
The server was nice. The food was prettty. It tastes good, but nothing knocked my socks off and I wouldn’t go out there again. Maybe sitting on the patio would be nicer? It looked pretty.
I had a good experience, but likely would try other new places before coming back here.
I found the service to be top notch. my party ended up being 6 people and we all enjoyed the service, the food and those who had a drink loved that, I loved my coffee. Paul Broadnax and Peter Kontrimas were playing wonderful old time jazz...couldn't have been nicer.
Neglected, poor service - meals took 45 min - food was quite good. So disappointed as it was to celebrate a birthday and sadly the joyful evening turned sour due to such poor service - we kept spirits high for as long as possible but it became painful and uncomfortable making it very disappointing for all. Not a value at all in comparison to the overall experience. I would pass and find something more reliable.
I was celebrating my granddaughter's 17th birthday at brunch on Sunday. The staff goes out of their way to make the occasion very special with confetti, balloons and complimentary dessert. The ambiance and food were very good. I have been there before and will go back again!!
Everything was excellent except for having a crying/whining toddler seated at the table next to us. Had to ask to be seated outside to avoid having this ruin our dinner, but missed having the quiet ambience of soft music that was inside or protection from the occasional fly that needed to be swatted away outside.
Excellent as usual! Cocktails and food choices are different saved delicious! Only thing I would add is if a server is explaining what ingredients are in the "specials"- list them all. We needed to switch meals as one member of our party was allergic to broccoli which was in the brunch frittata! But all delicious!
This is a great little restaurant in an odd spot - it is a great brunch stop on a Sunday when they have a jazz band playing. The menu choice was good - I had the egg white omelet which was interesting without being great. Price was right though - someone else paid for us.
Very good Sunday brunch. Live music, excellent wait staff. Food was very good, portions just right. Excellent, fun cocktails. Was there for my son's birthday and the staff was very thoughtful having a balloon at our table and brining him a birthday dessert. Will dine there again.
The cod special was a disaster. The piece of cod was drowning in a cheese sauce. When I complained they just separated the ingredients onto two plates. Still terrible. No attempt to provide an alternate dish or make good on the meal. There also seemed to be an attempt to turn the tables over quickly. Not ready for prime time and they should not be charging city prices.
It had been a while since we had eaten at Bullfinch's but someone mentioned the restaurant and we decided to visit on August 25, 2017. I am happy to say that the food was great and the service was impeccable. We will be adding Bullfinch's to our dining-out rotation.
Our yearly anniversary dinner at our fav place. Seafood en croute was special, the pate app was outstanding. Two entrees were duck confit and black and blue filet, both excellent. Our gratis dessert was a decadent chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream with a slender lit candle was a nice touch by the server. This place and Peggy are a gem.
