Before the British occupation of South Asia, the predominant force that ruled a majority of the continent was the Mughal empire, which originated in Ferghana (modern day Uzbekistan).
The cultural and religious capital of this empire lay in Bukhara due to the established silk trade routes from the Far East to the Mediterranean. This Indo-Islamic power had control over most of Asia and the city of Bukhara was the melting pot for all these cultures and their cuisines. As this great power vanished, so did much of its culinary inventions, but some aspects of this style survived in Northern India which have since come to be known as 'Mughlai Khanna' (food of the Mughals).
Today we carry this ancient tradition of culinary excellence at Bukhara Indian Bistro under the supervision of the first chef to bring North Indian food to Minneapolis and of one of the best North Indian culinary arts master in the Midwest Chef Joginder Cheema.

There is something very wrong when a restaurant that has a sign on its front window that they are open till 10:00pm and then rushes patrons to finish their dinners by 9:00pm saying that they close at 9:00 on Sundays. That happened the previous time we dined there. However, our last dining experience was even worse. We had 7:15 reservations and arrived on time. We ordered almost immediately looking forward to a bowl of soup to fight the cold. Despite numerous requests we received nothing for 45 minutes. Totally unacceptable!!!! We eat here regularly and loved their food. These last 2 experiences has soured us on what was once our favorite neighborhood restaurant.

I usually have an easier time grading the restaurants we go to. The main issue here was that the place was clearly short staffed for a busy Friday night and that reflected on the experience. The waiters were good and the food was good, but when you start eating at 8:15 after getting at 7:30, it skews the results. We have been to this place many times in the past and it was very good, I will give them another chance this experience was the exception.

Great food and plenty of it. Service was impeccable, very friendly without being over the top. It was a little noisy due to a family party going on too, but it didn’t really bother us. We will be back.

The food is excellent. We have great service every time we dine there . We always get the Samosa appetizer and then nan bread and then we share an entrée plenty of food!

The food was wonderful and the service was second to none. Attentive and knowledgeable without being overbearing. I would highly recommend for authentic Indian food in a comfortable setting.
