Buk Chon Korean Cuisine
Second time around was much better. Greeted warmly and seated just on time. Environment was pleasant and very clean.
Appetizer of green onion pancake was awesome and very filling and more than enough for two+ people.
Bimbimbop bowl with rib eye was also more than adequate size wise and very filling. Good flavor and choice of sauce on side was great option. The accompanying pickled vegetables were awesome and tasty.
Being a BYOB is another plus and will definitely be back. Great for before or after a movie. Korean food is becoming popular in center city and this place is added to one of our favorite Korean spots.
First time here and loved it. Definitely on list of places to go to before Arden Theater. Staff was great. Food was outstanding. We even reordered the Korean Fried Chicken because we liked it so much. I was looking at the dishes at the other tables and want to come back to try the more.
Lunch special was delicious and fairly large portions. Service was wonderful. Great value, as well! Definitely a spot we will return to for dinner.
Service was fast and friendly. Food was delicious and fairly priced. I will definitely recommend this place to friends looking for a good spot for Asian/Korean cuisine.
Buk Chon has a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy Korean favorites with friends. The traditional Korean dishes were wonderful, from balanced kimchi to crispy green onion pancake, toothsome japchae noodles, and savory ribeye bulgogi. Staff were attentive and knowledgeable, and the menu clarified spice levels.
Stick with the traditional Korean dishes rather than fusion menu items like kimchi paella. While I enjoyed Buk Chon’s purple rice and kimchi separately, the chef mixed them together for me before the paella came out, as opposed to a Bibimbap approach where I would have been able to appreciate each ingredient. Also, the small shrimp made me wish I had ordered a different protein.
In sum, if you order traditional Korean food and don’t expect big shrimp, you’ll have a great experience at Buk Chon.
Loved how it was on the smaller side- quaint and intimate. Food was extremely good and everything was reasonably priced. Also loved that it was BYOB. Great place to go with friends, family, and a significant other in a cute neighborhood!
Excellent fresh food. Delicious subtle seasoning. Relaxed vibe.
Excellent food and attentive service. Well able to accommodate gluten free diner.
Great restaurant choice in Old City. We've been here a few times with various friends and family and everyone's always noted it's delicious food and good value at the prices + BYOB. The tofu bi bim bap is a personal favorite. Very friendly staff, good service and a charming, fun ambiance.
Definitely recommend, quiet place not really crowded and the servers were so nice. Waiter name Justin served us that day. He made us a really great drink as we we requested. All foods are great. Love it.
Service could use some polish. Brought 3 of our 4 entrees out 5 mins before the 4th was ready. Waiter forgot the beverages we ordered. Food was beautifully presented but very heavy on sauces and salt. Nice ambiance. Casual and a good value. Nice neighborhood option.
The food here is so good and so affordable. And it's a byob!! It must be a secret little gem because it is never crowded so I can always get a table. Definitely recommend!
Very good Korean food. The pork buns were great. Bimimbap and spicy pork very good. People are very nice and accommodating.
They made me a special vegan bimbimbop bowl that was delicious. Very kind and accommodating wait staff. I would definitely return.
Food was fantastic. Service was quick. Would go back. They have a really good lunch special- under $10 for a entree and a side.
Went to Buk Chon to celebrate birthday with our sons and dates . We had a variety of menu choices and the consensus was that all choices were excellent. We will be going back again in the future.
Great food and it’s a BYO which makes it reasonable for a night out. Love the fried chicken!
The food was delicious and the service was very attentive to us.
Father’s Day lunch! Excellent Korean fried chicken for appetizer! The entrees were equally as good- Ramyun, kimchi and chorizo fries rice, spicy chili chicken and banchan platter!
Food was tasty, visually appealing and good quality.
A great birthday dinner for my girlfriend. I really like the fire chicken skillet and the ambience as well as great service.
120% recommended! This place does not get nearly the credit it deserves. The staff were kind, helpful, and full of life. The food came out quickly, yet it was fairly obvious the intricacies that went into making it. The bibimbap was absolutely delicious, and so was the fried chicken. This place is definitely detour-worthy!
We just went for dinner in our neighborhood and really enjoyed it.
Small but packs a punch. Well cooked Korean specialties Loved the fried chicken app and the Kim chee with tofu. Great and helpful servers. Good value and a BYOB
My favorite restaurant, never disappoints. The bibimbap stone bowls are easily one of my favorite dishes anywhere. Staff is always friendly and keep you coming back.
First time there as a suggestion from our daughter. The food was fabulous! There were 4 of us and we shared everything. Fried chicken with chili sauce, green onion pancake with seafood, short rib bibimbapp and a salad. All were tasty and spiced just right. We were sitting next to a Korean gentleman who said the food was not true Korean (like his mother made) but had the same overtones and he really liked it all. He said the fried chicken was better than what you get in Seoul!
It’s also a BYO, which always appeals to us.
We will definitely be back.
My husband and I enjoy Buk Chon for the tasty food and hipster ambiance. I won’t attempt to spell the entrees but I will say they are well prepared and tasty. My only complaint is the waitstaff didn’t clear away dishes at all.
Good food. Byob. Can be loud. Needs better AC. Service could be better, it wasn't bad, just standard.
Very good food and ambiance. Food was very good and had high-quality ingredients. However, the food wasn't necessarily authentically Korean, so it was confusing at times to have a dish like the jun or "pancake" because it didn't taste like a typical Korean pancake (해물파전). However, it may be because the style of the restaurant is meant to be more modern and fusion-y.
Delicious food and nice atmosphere at a reasonable price.
Very good small quaint place for Korean food. The food was fresh and tasty. I would definitely come back. FYI this is a BYOB
Food was excellent - FIVE STAR ! I can not say It's a traditional Korean food , Americanized but ingredients were fresh and really tasty. Don't go for traditional Korean but for a very tasty meal it's a great option. Good for date night or late lunch for sunday.
Great place to meet up for a quiet Sunday lunch with friends. Typical Korean dishes with a bit of fusion twist.
Great friendly, attentive service, awesome food, great setting and value with BYOB! We will be back.
Really enjoy the whole experience in this small neighborhood restaurant. Food is healthy and unique!
Very friendly staff!
A great new BYOB addition to the Old City dining scene, with tasty Korean food, nice setting, good prices and friendly, efficient service. We enjoyed the mixed appetizers and I had the Tofu Bi Bim Bop, which was delicious. Comfortable, relaxed and warm atmosphere.
The food is SO GOOD and inexpensive, especially the double fried chicken!
Second visit. Delicious food, attentive service, can’t wait to come back to try everything on the menu.
Wonderful meal - have recommended to 10 people already!
First visit and I’ll definitely be back! The food was delicious and the overall ambience was awesome down to every little detail like the coat hooks installed next to our table. Don’t forget to BYO
We'vd enjoyed Buk Chon since our first visit and have returned several times, taking friends. Excellent food (especially the ribeye skillet (marinated in house-made soy sauce). Also, very reasonable prices, BYO with no corkage fee, and quiet enough to enjoy conversation. We wish Buk Chon all the success it deserves and hope it will be around for a long while!!!
