BUFFALO CHOPHOUSE - PRIME STEAKS & FRESH SEAFOOD Ratings and Reviews
Little disappointed as we had high expectations. Very pricey for al a carte side dishes. But most disappointing was barely warm butter in a small metal cup. I expect hot butter served over a heat source. Ran out of butter as the lobster tail was quite big - very nice, however, by the time more warm butter was brought to the table, lobster was cold. Not what I expected for service on a Sunday evening, when it wasn't nearly as busy as I would expect for a Saturday or Friday night. I think at one point our server forgot we were his table. Set down dessert menus without even asking us if interested first. Not sure if we'll go back with plenty of other nice options now available in Buffalo.
Always the best steak in Buffalo and competitive with any steakhouse in the country. I have been to the Buffalo Chophouse about 15 times in my life. It has been excellent every time. Our family has been there together dining 8-10 times. We just said, WE have always had a great meal and a great steak.
Food was amazing, every bite from appetizers to main course to dessert. Service excellent. Unfortunately, we had other diners sitting inches from us on both sides, so private conversation was not possible. This happened recently at another very nice restaurant. I guess I just need to request a private table in the future. Otherwise, wonderful experience.
I absolutely love this place. Our waiter Jake was phenomenal. Knew exactly what he was talking about and helped us tremendously. That guy should be a manager. Came there for my birthday got some discounts and we're definitely coming there for New Year's Eve. Thank you guys so much for your hospitality
We enjoyed the atmosphere and food. The waiter was extremely friendly. The presentation of the pre-dinner items as well as the taste was great, the olive, cheese, bread with wine. The presentation of the porterhouse was unique and we like the ideal that it was pre-sliced. The king crab was amazing, the shell was cracked to perfection and easy to get to. The asparagus was roasted to perfection and the mashed potatoes were nicely seasoned. Live music would have topped the night off. other than this everything else was great. I would recommend to friends.
My husband and I went to the Chophouse to celebrate our birthdays which are days apart. We had not been there in a few years and went for the birthday deal of $50 off one entre for a birthday. The appetizer of stuffed banana pepper, salads and wine were excellent. Our steaks were perfect. Our roasted fingerling potatoes though were barely warm and not cooked thoroughly. Our server when he finally appeared took them off the bill ($12). He had not been around for quite some time and we were nearly finished with our steaks when we sent the potatoes back. The mushrooms we ordered were awesome and I am not a mushroom lover. The bananas foster for dessert was outstanding. If not for cold $12 potatoes I would have given a higher rating. They did give a a $40 voucher to come back again which we likely will
The food was overpriced for having absolutely no flavor or seasoning. I ended up having to have everything packed up to go since an hour into seating, I still had not been served with the waiter stating they fell behind due to a big table even though both tables beside me had been served. My grilled lobster was good except for the overabundance of this flavorless creamy white suace they rested it on. My daughter's salmon left much to be desired. The fingerling potatoes were supposed to be roasted but tasted more like baked.
The Buffalo Chophouse is a very classy venue. Our chairs were high-backed and plush amidst a hushed decor. The wait staff could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. The food was first-rate, and of some interest was my husband's well-done yet very tender steak! We availed ourselves of the birthday special for my son which deducted $50 for his entree, and before departing, we each were given a $40 coupon for a dinner for two, an offer we most certainly will use!
We had very high expectations for this restaurant and it fell pretty flat. We had a lovely but incredibly inexperienced server... I don't blame him for ANY of this experience. He should not have been given the responsibility he was given with no training to back it up. I fully put our experience on lack of management. To begin, we ordered sparkling water. It took about 20 minutes to arrive. The bottle of wine I selected was a 2011 Brunello, which should have been opened and decanted by someone familiar and comfortable with both of these things. I should not have to ask for an expensive bottle to be decanted in a "five star" restaurant... proper glassware (not the default Burgundy glasses on the table) should have been set in. I should also not have had to pour my own wine from beginning to end of the service. When the appetizer arrived (we split the scallops), we only had forks on the table, as well as butter knives. We sat and waited for someone to realize and bring us knives and eventually had to summon the server to request cutlery. When we did finally eat, the appetizer was quite good. The scallops were perfectly cooked. I wasn't a huge fan of the preparation of the brussels sprouts, but nonetheless the dish was fine. For a "five star" restaurant, I couldn't believe how sloppily tables were cleared, both around us, and at our own table. Plates should be neatly cleared and stacked in hand, not all piled on top of each other regardless of size and carried off with both hands. Tie clips should be worn by those wearing ties so that ties don't go into food. Cutlery should be neatly placed and reset for the following course, with forks on the left and knives on the right. Service should be seamless and unintrusive. I should go on, but I have a limited word count. As a summary, service was terrible (management, work on training your staff), but the food, particularly the porterhouse for 2, was outstanding. I would not return to this restaurant.
Our steaks were excellent, my filet mingon maybe a bit more medium-rare than medium. Sides were just alright, we had mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. Also ordered the chocolate cake for two, massive slice but was much lighter than we excepted. Our server was great, attentive but not annoying. Overall nice anniversary dinner.
I have been wanting to go to the Chop House for a long time. It was worth the wait. It is a five star plus for me. The staff was extremely friendly. Are meals were excellent. The atmosphere was very elegant and cozy. I have told all my friends and family it is a must for them to go.
Celebration of my 40th birthday. Our servicer Rick was absolutely phenomenal. He took care of all our needs and made sure my mother had a great first visit. Manager came over to wish me a happy birthday and with coupons for our next visit. We will be back soon!
Beautiful venue. A lil chilly near the windows but I like it cooler anyways so i loved it. Jake was a very attentive waiter and I was very pleased
The lobster bisque was a little much for myself. Next time suggest it is really a serving for two. But other than than. I was very impressed with your wine selection
Jake was very knowledgble about the variety of wines and helped us make a selection that suited our preference
To see the manager walk around and greet and check on us was very classy.
The service was slow. It took 15 minutes before we were offered water. It wasn't until we asked our hostess that someone brought water. It was another 15 minutes before a waiter came. The people who sat after us on either side received their food way before us. Terrible service and I have been here in the past and the service was better before.
Decided to dine there on the last night of Restaurant week (Sunday). It was rather empty inside to our surprise. We were asked to wait to be seated since there was only one of the two Hostesses were around. After a couple mins, the first hostess decided to take us to our seat since the other had not come down. That was not an issue at all. The rest of the night could have been a lot better. Our waiter wasn’t too attentive to our table. In fact, very little conversation was made beyond the very casual “here is our Restaurant Week menu and can I get you some drinks”. We then waited for some bread after ordering our food. We received our bread after our appetizers were cleared from the table. I bypassed my standard order of a 20oz Kansas City ribeye for the Prime Rib special. I normally can’t say no to a Prime Rib, but this is one I will pass on next time. It came out at a very sad room temperature. Our Mac and cheese was beyond a tolerable temperature, and my wife’s meal was adequate. Nothing was consistent. The table behind us had seen the manager upwards of 4 times and seemed to have had a very forgetful meal. They had been given a refund of some sort that we had heard as well as gift cards as a sorry for your experience. Another table by us had changed seats 3 times and then another waiter at an adjacent table seemed as though he could not be bothered being there. The women he was taking care of even mentioned that he seemed to be preoccupied. This was obviously true considering he rushed them through their order as well as making a sarcastic joke that I could tell went over their head. He also abruptly left mid-order and told the one woman to think about what she wants. All of this took away from my Celebration Dinner with my Wife. This was a surprise date that we were having to celebrate our new Baby Announcement. From start to finish our most pleasant experience was with the valet. I felt as though Sundays are not for the “First String Team”.
We were going to celebrate our birthdays that are 6 days apart WNted to take advantage of their generous offer for one free bday dinner. It turned out to be restaurant week and we were able to enjoy their special menu. The short rib was fabulous and my prime rib was not only delicious but huge! The first one was overdone but they were very nice about replacing it with one that was properly cooked. They also treated us to a bday dessert! Fabulous chocolate cake topped with decadent ganache. We couldn’t have asked for a nicer way to celebrate! Many thanks!
The seating arrangement was terrible. For a $300 meal for two, you would expect an intimate setting. It turned very awkward once the next table got seated. We had to talk much more quiet to keep our conversations to ourselves. Not going back for that price unless they redesign.
I enjoyed my visit to the buffalo chophouse. The food was amazing and our waiter (I can't remember his name) was extremely friendly and professional. We talked about our costumes for Halloween and shared a bunch of laughs. Also upon arrival we were seated at the best table in the house. I had a good time and look forward to going back.
This was our first time there. The food was outstanding. One of the best steaks I have had and I keep records of each steak house I go to. I feel like the steak prices were in line but most everything else was a few bucks more than it needs to be. It kind felt like they were nickel and dimeing. The service was great. Overall awesome and I would go back.
I enjoy steak. Filet is my favorite. I don't like fat on my steak because I hate having to wrk hard to eat my food. I must say I have never enjoyed steak like I did at the buffalo chophouse. It absolutely dissolved in my mouth. It was hands down the best steak I've ever eaten. The appetizers(stuffed banana peppers) and our starch(au graten potatoes) were also top notch and second to none. The meal was worth every penny.
