BUFFALO CHOPHOUSE - PRIME STEAKS & FRESH SEAFOOD Ratings and Reviews
Came in with a group of 30 and was very happy. Apps, salads and drinks came out very quick. Food was great and delivered together. Took a little longer than I had hoped but was a large group. Service was good and I would definitely recommend. Rachel the day hostess was great in setting this all up as there were quite a few changes through the day.
The steaks were the best any of us had ever eaten, but they were out of au gratin potatoes at 7pm! So we got a baked potato and the fingerlings, both of which were under-cooked. The waiter took the fingerlings back to "finish" them, nope, still crunchy! He said they forgot to blanch them. The creamed spinach was underdone as well. Wayyyy too expensive to screw-up vegetables! The meals should at least come with a salad for those prices. None of us ordered soup or salad due to the prices. We were a group of 5, so a larger table, but being seated at the edge of the bar was disappointing too. Our waiter was very good.
It is a good food restaurant however, when i did the reservation i was asked if there is an special occasion which I responded it is our anniversary and if posible , to include a flower on the table for my wife. The whole night we did not hear anything about it, either any comments or congratulations from the staff.
We had reservations 11/17 for a party of 6 to celebrate my son's graduation and his upcoming birthday. Not knowing exactly when the graduation and reception would end, we made reservations for 8:45. We were done by 7:45 and our change in reservation time was quickly accepted on Open Table. I called the restaurant just to make sure they knew of the change, and they were already aware we were coming early and they had our table ready.
We ordered some starters....including lobster bisque and caesar salad, and both were delicious. One person in our party took advantage of the surf and turf special. Two others ordered the larger fillet (12 oz) with oscar topping, one ordered salmon, one ordered bass, and the sixth ordered the 12 oz fillet. We also ordered many of the sides served 'family style' in generous dishes. We had the lobster mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, asparagus, and wild mushrooms. By the time our entrees arrived, I was already full from the soup and salad. Everyone was very pleased with their dinner, but the striped bass wasn't quite up to par with the steaks and salmon. We're big on seafood in our family, but in this restaurant, everyone who ordered steak was very glad they did. The steaks were so tender and prepared exactly how we like them. The lobster tail was large and delicious. It was the hit of the table.
Our server, Troy, was very accommodating, keeping our wine glasses filled and making sure we had everything we needed.
We were too full to order dessert, but knowing that it was my son's birthday, they brought out an enormous slice of chocolate cake. We all managed to take a bite, and the rest was packed up for home, along with our leftovers.
The bill was over $500, and it was worth the cost. I did forget to ask for the $50 birthday discount on my son's dinner when the check arrived. That was my oversight. In general, this restaurant is a real treat for a special occasion, and we're very glad we went!
We Have been here many times, but this time we were disappointed with the steaks. We both ordered specials and the 40oz porterhouse was not cooked as he wanted. The waiter heard us, so he told my husband to cut in center more. Towards the center it was fine, but the filet part was very over done as well as outer edge. My bone in filet was heavily seasoned. So much so, that I only ate a few bites. We don't like to complain, (especially since we really liked the waiter)so we didn't. But when we received the bill, that 40oz Porterhouse was $119.00!! Had we known it was that much we most definitely would have complained!! (or not ordered it). But the special prices were not told to us, and we didn't ask. Our bill was 398.00 for 2 people and this is the first time we felt the steak quality was not there. We've raved about Chophouse in the past but after this time, I don't know if we will be back. For that kind of money, we should have enjoyed our steaks more, not just settled. The lobster tail was good as well as the sides but the scallops were on the verge of being undercooked. All in all, I can no longer recommend Chophouse to people.
Little disappointed as we had high expectations. Very pricey for al a carte side dishes. But most disappointing was barely warm butter in a small metal cup. I expect hot butter served over a heat source. Ran out of butter as the lobster tail was quite big - very nice, however, by the time more warm butter was brought to the table, lobster was cold. Not what I expected for service on a Sunday evening, when it wasn't nearly as busy as I would expect for a Saturday or Friday night. I think at one point our server forgot we were his table. Set down dessert menus without even asking us if interested first. Not sure if we'll go back with plenty of other nice options now available in Buffalo.
Always the best steak in Buffalo and competitive with any steakhouse in the country. I have been to the Buffalo Chophouse about 15 times in my life. It has been excellent every time. Our family has been there together dining 8-10 times. We just said, WE have always had a great meal and a great steak.
Food was amazing, every bite from appetizers to main course to dessert. Service excellent. Unfortunately, we had other diners sitting inches from us on both sides, so private conversation was not possible. This happened recently at another very nice restaurant. I guess I just need to request a private table in the future. Otherwise, wonderful experience.
I absolutely love this place. Our waiter Jake was phenomenal. Knew exactly what he was talking about and helped us tremendously. That guy should be a manager. Came there for my birthday got some discounts and we're definitely coming there for New Year's Eve. Thank you guys so much for your hospitality
We enjoyed the atmosphere and food. The waiter was extremely friendly. The presentation of the pre-dinner items as well as the taste was great, the olive, cheese, bread with wine. The presentation of the porterhouse was unique and we like the ideal that it was pre-sliced. The king crab was amazing, the shell was cracked to perfection and easy to get to. The asparagus was roasted to perfection and the mashed potatoes were nicely seasoned. Live music would have topped the night off. other than this everything else was great. I would recommend to friends.
My husband and I went to the Chophouse to celebrate our birthdays which are days apart. We had not been there in a few years and went for the birthday deal of $50 off one entre for a birthday. The appetizer of stuffed banana pepper, salads and wine were excellent. Our steaks were perfect. Our roasted fingerling potatoes though were barely warm and not cooked thoroughly. Our server when he finally appeared took them off the bill ($12). He had not been around for quite some time and we were nearly finished with our steaks when we sent the potatoes back. The mushrooms we ordered were awesome and I am not a mushroom lover. The bananas foster for dessert was outstanding. If not for cold $12 potatoes I would have given a higher rating. They did give a a $40 voucher to come back again which we likely will
The food was overpriced for having absolutely no flavor or seasoning. I ended up having to have everything packed up to go since an hour into seating, I still had not been served with the waiter stating they fell behind due to a big table even though both tables beside me had been served. My grilled lobster was good except for the overabundance of this flavorless creamy white suace they rested it on. My daughter's salmon left much to be desired. The fingerling potatoes were supposed to be roasted but tasted more like baked.
