The restaurant was closed when we arrived. Our Valentine’s Day was ruined. Quite irresponsible to allow people to make reservations when your restaurant isn’t open for business.
We have already recommended your restaurant to friends
Excellent service, really excellent food and great wine selections. Get the filet mignon! Waiter was friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was really cool - decorated like an old hunting lodge but still felt very classy.
Wine was pricy and poor quality. Food and service was very good. Nice atmosphere.
Restaurant was out of red wine and season's not over yet and food was lousy
Our family dinner there was a delight! Authentic historic atmosphere, elegant decor, perfect service, and yummy food.
We enjoyed our dinner at the Buffalo Bar. The Entrees were well prepared, and the desserts were fabulous. Exceeded my expectations for an out of the way place. Will be our go-to when in Yosemite. Also, the hotel was very nice.
The food was really good. The waiter was very helpful when we asked for suggestions. The ambiance was very fitting to the location. Would eat here again!
One word describes the food, ambiance and bar.....AMAZING!!!!!! They have limited staff which is why I put 4 stars on service, but the servers did their best and we didn't wait very long for food or drinks! I would definitely recommend to ANYONE who is in the area, going to or from Yosemite Ntl Park, to stop in and check them out for dinner!
A very unpleasant experience. They had loud strange music playing that you would only enjoy if you were stoned! They did turn it down as we requested, but it was inappropriate for dinner music. What they called english pea risotto was uncooked rice with peas. The fried tomato entree was deep fried? They might want to check google for a recipe for fried tomatoes. The venison was cold in a salt broth. Skipped dessert. Wine was ok.
The food was fantastic, service wonderful. Don't miss this place. You won't be disappointed.
Very kind and accommodating staff. My boyfriend and I got in very late after driving 7 hours from Southern California for the weekend to stay at Yosemite, and everyone who was working that night was incredibly sweet to us even though we were far past usual dining times. Great food, attentive waitstaff & I can't say enough good things about the people who took care of us. We would have not eaten till morning, but instead got a lovely meal by a beautiful fireplace. Thank you!
To be candid, the chef, although having over two decades experience (according to our server), had only taken over the kitchen two weeks before. But certain basics don't need time to ramp up, such as bringing bread to the table after drink orders are taken. Many of the selections on the wine list are no longer offered, yet the new offerings are on no printed wine menu. And in a region known for hearty food and big appetites after a day of appetite-building hiking, river rafting, etc., the portions were dainty, unlike their prices.
While these are things that time may work out, the staff needs to work on being more accommodating and less garrulous. We arrived to no immediate greeting (no one at the desk) and when the server eventually greeted as and asked about seating choices, we were told that the tables around the fireplace weren't open as there was no fire burning. So, we took a table next to the (chilly) window. Less than 10 minutes later the fireplace was ablaze and the seats surrounding it were all filled by patrons apparently offered an option we were not.
But the almost Monty Python-like exchange between my wife, who when asked how her sauteed sea scallops were, pointed out that the listed ingredient of finely chopped jalapeno, which had piqued her interest in making the selection, was absent, the server first claimed the jalapeno was cooked into the sauce. When my wife (a long-time jalapeno lover) insisted there was none in the sauce, the server reversed himself and claimed what was clearly chopped parsley was really chopped jalapeno. As we had both sampled the "green" flakes on the entree and concluded it was nearly flavorless parsley, the insistence that parsley (leafy, bland and almost flavorless) was really jalapeno (fleshy and hot), the server's refusal to retreat from the insistence that his entirely inconsistent claims proved sufficiently comical to let it drop.
Give it time. The kinks may be worked out. They Better.
The reserve that i had made in opentable was not recognized by the restaurant even so we could seat. We have ordered our food (one salad then a chiiken and a beed) and wine. Got the salad and 30 min after asked about the main plates that were not served. The waitress said that they had problems in the chiken but were in the line. After another 30 minutes we realized that the rest of the restaurant (even those who arrived much later tha us) were eating and our food did not come. We canceled everything and left.
The setting was charming and rustic fitting the Yosemite experience. The food was benign, not very interesting or flavorful. The service was great. It could be a nice place to eat especially since it is so close to Tannaya. They just need to really improve the food.
It was closed, you let me make a reservation for place the is not open in the winter. We drove all the way there to find out it was closed.
We made a reservation through this website. AND BOY, was that a mistake. The restaurant was not even open on that day! Why would you give us a reservation when the restaurant is not even open, luckily we were able to find food at another restaurant.
Get you Site together to give the appropriate information. It was a waste of our time, energy and gas money to drive up and down the rural highway in the dark. Terrible Open Table!
The restaurant didn't have our Open Table reservation.
They started with a new menu and the selection was perfect. Our waiter Will was very helpful and professional.
Very Disappointed in this restaurant. The Yelp and Open Table review were false representations of what this restaurant has to offer. While some of the food was ok, the menu selection shown online is not what is offered in the restaurant. It was also a bit expensive but the remote location makes that understandable.
Laid back old world country feel. Be comfortable eating dinner while multiple mounted elk heads stare back at you. Service is warm and friendly and the food surprisingly "nouveau" for the area. I enjoyed it.
Dreadful experience! They had only 3 entrees to choose from and no vegetables except tomatoes which were not even good.
Their excuse was that they had only been open 1 day since fires had caused evacuation of the area and they hadn't received any fresh food. So then why be open? We were charged $30 each for a filet with a few slices of tomato. No price reduction or concessions like maybe a free glass of wine. ??!!
Every other guest I spoke to of the inn and restaurant was equally disgusted.
We had a b-day dinner at the restaurant on the 1st day they opened after the fire. They had limited menu, and its took a little longer to get our food, but every one were very professional and we did get discount for this. Overall - the place is very interesting and enjoyable. Full bar, wonderful atmosphere. Will definitely try it again, if we end up in the area. Thank you.
oops. Forgot our reservation for a group of 8. They had a wedding party and were out of several of the items on the menu but did not let us know until quite a while after we had ordered. They waived the corkage fee since they forgot the reservation and we had to wait while they set a table for us outside.
Nice find and an excellent alternative to the Tenaya Lodge up the road. Nice menu although a few items not available even at 7:30pm. Easy going service and pacing between courses. All dishes were excellent. Good wine list. Everything reasonably priced, especially for the quality. Special kudos to our waiter, Will.
Menu was interesting although somewhat pricey! Still....venison chops were generous in size and very well prepared! We were were very pleased with our meal and service. Wine options by the glass are somewhat limited.
A nice dinner. Nice People. Seems family and a bit amateur, but the food was good and nice meal near Yosemite. Wine inexpensive and food also.
