We absolutely loved our experience at Buenavista and hope to visit again the next time we go to NYC. The meals were delicious, the presentation exceptional, and the staff was most kind and attentive. Compliments to the chef! (That’s not something I say often.)
Great little restaurant. You can't go wrong with the skirt steak.
The space was small but neither the music or guest conversation was loud. We were quickly seated and told specials before ordering. We enjoyed all three courses that we selected and were pleased by the presentation. We also were offered after dinner rum shots on the house. Service was very good through out our evening and were able to get the theatre in plenty of time for the evening show.
This place is a gem! Excellent presentation and even better tasting food. Try crab and shrimp tamale appetizer, grilled octopus, duck for main dish, as well as seabass, all their specials are amazing too. This restaurant is tiny, only a few tables, so make sure you have reservations before you go.
Octopus special appetizer and the Peruvian ceviche were spectacular; wait service very efficient and helpful
We had the most delicious dinner! The octopus was outstanding!
The food is delicious in this tiny gem of a place, but the stars are the outstanding and friendly service and the resulting camaraderie which spontaneously is created due to the showmanship touches (fire!) and incredible alcohol (mamajuana!).
Four of us shared 2 apps, potato stuffed with oxtail meat with a lovely sauce, and artichoke which was ok and nothing enough for 4. The potato was excellent. Mains were roast duck, steak and pork ossobuco all excellent. One person had shrimp dish, which was very good but paled in comparison to other 3. Dessert was banana pudding and flan … good but the mains outshine. Wonderful warm service. Give it a try
it was excellent and the food wow very good
La comida espectacular y el servicio de primera
We took this opportunity to try Buenavista as it was close to a theater performance we were attending. The beautiful picture as well as the menu reflected the Spanish and Central and South American culture. We were promptly greeted and seated though we were 30 minutes early for our reservation. We began with appetizers. The Cuban Tamal with crabmeat and shrimp saffron was delicious. My companion had the special octopus appetizer, which was also beautifully presented and cooked properly. For our entree , we shared the Spanish paella, which included copious amounts of scallops, shrimp, mussels, oysters, fish, chicken, chorizo and lima beans in a flavorful sauce. We finished the meal with tres leche cake and cinnamon spears. Both were very tasty. As there were only 2 servers, the staff was stretched thin but they were as accommodating as they could be. It certainly did not detract from the wonderful dining experience.
We introduced our friends who live in the city, but never dine here. They will definitely return. Thanks again for delicious food and service.
Our server Robert was awesome.
The place is small and cozy, the food just great, excellent service.
a really underrated restaurant. Small and cozy, and the food was great. I actually didn't expect it to be that good for some reason. The drinks were also great. The wait staff was amazing. The host was a little "chatty" for my taste, but he was very nice. A very unexpected gem, only a few short blocks from Madison Square Garden, which is where we were going for a show that night.
The food was amazing and their housemade hot sauce was fantastic
You have to at least try their grilled octopus appetizer. Best grilled octopus I've ever had anywhere in the city.
Great tapas here and happy hour drinks
This a hidden gem near Port Authority Bus Terminal. The menu is uniformly excellent. We are treated like family each time we dine there. Everything on the menu is excellent but the osso bucco is probably the best.
Entire staff was extremely nice and friendly. Food was delicious.
I was really surprised by the quality of the food, the creativity in the menu, and the wonderful service from our server. They had Latin American inspired tapas (they have entrees too, we just did not order them) in a very tight and intimate little restaurant. The octopus was delicious as well as the craft cocktails. And the prices were very reasonable, especially for NYC. We had two teen daughters there and they did not complain at all. Great hidden gem. Our server really made us feel special.
First of all, wonderful service by Sterling! The food is phenomenal, would highly recommend it. Every dish (and we ordered a lot) was good!
We used the pulsed coupons for brunch on a Saturday. Restaurant staffs were very friendly, and they explained on the phone about them having two different pulsed coupons. One is for Sunday ONLY, and the other one is for lunch on weekday and brunch for Saturday. Once we arrived, our server explained and asked again to make sure we have the correct coupon. Foods were amazing, and the drinks were served very quickly. Overall, I would come back again!!
Love this place. When you first walk in it's not particularly impressive. Long and narrow, with a nice bar area on the left, a relatively small seating area beyond with a few 2-tops o the left and , and a banquette that runs along the right wall, with comfortable cushions, with a few table of various sizes in front of it. There are many colorful framed photos on the walls of sites in Central and South American countries
The beauty in in the food, service and overall vibe, which is helped by catchy Latin American music, not too loud for good conversation. The servers are warm, seem clearly proud of the food and are eager to accommodate you. And the food is amazingly good, not what you would expect on first impression when you walk in. The Mexican Guacamole with chilaquiles and green plantain confit, served in molcajete (stone) shell is delicious and visually beautiful--homemade, with long, rectangular tortilla chips. I had the squid ink linguine with seafood. My main was Calamari Ink linguini sauteed with scallop, shrimp, and spinach in a lemongrass creamy Alfredo, sprinkled with picorino and micro purple basil. It was outstanding! A bottle of delicious Albarino rounded out the meal. I give 5 stars relative to expectations. Fine dining in a mid-range setting!
First time there, small but very clean and cozy great service, the food tasty they got a very good chef. good drinks also.
Food portions were very small , service was ok because they were short staff .
They could be more generous with the food considering the price.
Fantastic! Everything was fresh, and you can tell the chef takes pride in his work. Great cocktails as well. Will be back!
It was amazing !!! I don’t know the waiter’s name but he was AWESOME ! His vibe and energy literally made us have the best night
Great ambiance, great food and very good service. The staff was amazing, and they fully bilingual (Eng/Spa). I had the rib-eye and was delicious!
Absolutely recommend it! Two thumbs up! 👍🏻👍🏻
Great find! Food was delicious and portioned just right.
One of the best restaurant in NY. The food and drinks were creative, beautiful and delicioussssss. Chef Alex Alvarado makes espectacular combinations of flavors. We loved everything from appetizers to desserts. Also great service and ambiance. 100% reccomended.
Restaurant is cute and cozy, staff was nice, dinner was okay. Appetizers were good better.
Amazing food and outstanding service! Fabulous birthday dinner
Food was amazing. From appetizers, main course, and sides. Delicious
Oh my goodness. If you haven’t been, you need to go today! The food is incredible and so fresh and the cocktails are amazing. Their happy hour is great and well worth its value. We were seated right away and the server was very attentive despite having many tables to care for. The outdoor seating is very cute. Overall, highly recommend!
This is some of the best food I've EVER eaten. It was absolutely AMAZING.
Amazing Food! You must try it!
Incredible spanish restaurant, one of the best in the entire city I would recommend to a friend or visitor.
First time visiting this restaurant and I love it!
The music was not loud, the food was very tasty and the service was excellent. I simply love this restaurant and I will definitely comeback.
Food was absolutely delicious & the waiter was very pleasant!
Outstanding European/Iberian Peninsula/Latin American fusion cuisine at moderate prices. Excellent service. Very strong recommendation.
