Visited during Restaurant Week so we got to sample a lot of the menu offerings. Sadly, this did not include any desserts but we enjoyed most of the plates that we ordered.
Fantastic dinner and service
Nice special for restaurant week. The beef taco was great as w lol as the shrimp tapa. All are small plates but very tasty! Plaintains and lamb were nice although the veggie had a spicy sauce. Nice atmosphere and plenty of parking in the nearby garage.
As always, great food and ambiance. The white sangrias were delicious. My guest and I don’t eat bacon, So they modified some of their dishes to accommodate us. Much appreciated!
Perfect place for a Friday Happy Hour. Delicious margaritas and small plates are fun to share. Staff is very attentive. Most small plates are definitely worth the $$. Barbacoa is YUM. Only one or two plates missed the mark. Definitely worth a try!
Ray was AMAZING!! And GM was extremely nice. On top of all that the food and value was great. Had an amazing time
It's good food and it's a great deal for brunch. The room is echo-y. So when it's half full and people are laughing or talking loud it can be very difficult to hear the people at your own table. But the food is good. Go with the unlimited option, ordering ala carte isn't really worth it.
Other than the server being a little bit forgetful the experience was excellent.
Service was friendly without being obsequious. The potato and cheese flautas were delicious followed by the sweet corn empanadas that had a little kick. The salads were fresh and flavorful. Delicious food, excellent variety
This is a nice place with great food, but like many places for young people, very noisy. The service was excellent.
Poor service, not enough meat in the servings and the drinks were meh. All together the food was pretty mediocre.
Great value and a great atmosphere for a good time. I will definitely be returning again with more friends ☺️
I live in Silver Spring and have been to Buena Vida for brunch several times. Usually, I love it, but I have to say, the service this time was not good. I don't put that entirely on our server either. Management gave her three massive tables near us -- they had 10 or more people. That would be a challenge for anyone. Maybe she could have done better, but it was obvious she was overwhelmed. We ended up spending more than two hours there. Not a big deal because we weren't in a huge hurry, but still, I finally had to ask a manager to go run my credit card. [I still gave the server nearly 20 percent because she was pleasant and I think she was sincerely trying. I only dock them when they show little effort and they're rude.] My good times at Buena Vida far outweigh the bad times and I will return and I still recommend it highly. Plus, the food still was very good. But I am hoping it can do better in the future.
Mexican tapas in an energetic but loud setting. We enjoyed everything from the complimentary chips and salsa, through ceviche, papaya salad, chicken and pisco cocktails. This restaurant is a nice addition to Silver Spring.
Service was friendly but about half of the orders were not delivered. Food took a long time to reach the table
We got the Buena Vida ‘experience’, which includes continual drinks and dishes for an all-inclusive price. The food was outstanding and the wait staff kept all our dish and drink orders coming without any lags. We were repeat customers and will be back again!
I was disappointed this time around. The chicken quesadilla was strange - came out burned and the smokey sauce on the top was not a hit with my teenagers. We sent it back and asked for a regular cheese quesadilla, only to be served the chicken quesadilla again. The waitress was nice though and took both off of our bill. Her English was not good so it was hard to communicate. My teens basically had chips and salsa/guac for dinner. My salmon was just ok. The guacamole didn't taste fresh, almost as if it were store-made in a container. I'm sad because this restaurant is so cute and it was good the first two times I ate there! Probably will not go back.
We loved our experience at Buena Vida. We decided to do the small plates and enjoyed tasting so many different foods. Loved the Yucatan Guacamole! This was a birthday celebration and the surprise birthday dessert was so nice. The presentation with Happy Birthday written on the platter was muy bueno! We will definitely come back and bring more friends.
The food at Buena Vida was delicious. I thought the service was solid, but there were a few occasions where we had to ask for our service more than once or twice, which felt like a miss. It was my first time with my family and it was good, when I wish it was great.
The restaurant consistently fails to register my Open Table points. Other than that .... the place is AMAZING!!!!
Great food options and drink selection for bottomless brunch. Good value and we will for sure return. Just make sure your server writes down your order. We have to ask several times for a few items we ordered.
Ample county parking just behind the building.
We went for brunch and got the prix fixe option The food was creative, delicious, and plentiful. The servers were friendly and very attentive, with the small plates coming out one after another. Amazing food and a really light and sunny atmosphere inside. The one minor issue was that the music was extremely loud, which made talking to my partner at the table difficult. Otherwise, perfect.
Disappointing dinner experience- waiter couldn’t answer basic questions about menu and then when the wrong food came out, kept asking if we wanted to keep the wrong food (we didn’t). A second waiter saw we were unhappy and worked to rectify the situation which we appreciated, but the food quality also seems to have gone down since restaurant opening.
The food was delicious and well presented by friendly staff. Nice casual atmosphere. The only problem is noise. I will go back, but I will have to consider my companions. If food is the focus, okay. But if we wish to have a conversation, I’ll choose another restaurant. I’d love to hear that they have fixed this in the future.
Also a great meal experience!
Food choices were very good. The all you can eat option was very good. Did not receive the free drink that was mentioned in the Open Table ad. The margaritas were very good but the glass was 90% is 10% drink but otherwise very good. I would go again.
The server brought us four different items that were the wrong ones...wrong type of guacamole, wrong type of tacos, wrong type of enchiladas, wrong drinks...it was comical at first but seriously...the food is just mediocre...
Food was ok, but not special. Lack of staff, delay with everything. Won’t go back.
Great food and convenient location.
The booths upstairs are perfect for a date.
They don’t have enough staff for brunch or their system is failing them. Server did her best to track down food that never arrived, but we ended up leaving before I dessert arrived...if it arrived. Food has all the elements, but the food was only just meh. Skip the shrimp nachos.
The $35 all you can eat/drink brunch is a good deal. Margaritas were tasty, the Michelada was disgusting (like drinking hot sauce). Food was good and plentiful. Don’t skip the plantains and churros.
I went for brunch and the food was good. Overall it was a great value!
Came here with my girlfriends to celebrate birthdays. We opted for the all you can eat - which I recommend. The plates are like tapas. And you’ll want to try more than a couple times off the menu.
Our waiter was wonderful, very friendly and attentive, and even brought us churros and margaritas for our birthdays. The food was absolutely amazing. Pretty much everything was delicious. The barbacoa nachos were fantastic, as well as the empanadas, flautas and queso.
I did have a plate I was not finished with get picked up without being asked if I was finished or not. I didn’t see it being picked up - I was speaking to my friend, turned around and it was gone. Also the ladies bringing out the dishes weren’t the most friendly. But overall a fantastic experience, and I’ll definitely come back again.
Great food. Extremely loud - but a nice overall atmosphere.
We absolutely love this place! Their food is amazing!! I’m a vegetarian and they have outstanding options for my likings. Highly recommend this place. Just remember to reserve a table before you head over, because there’s usually a wait.
Buena Vida is always a great experience! This time was no different.
Ate at the $20 lunch special. Consistently great food and services! Enjoyed the varied selection of food. Enough to share with 4 people.
We have celebrated a number of family and friend occasions at this restaurant, and each time it has been a huge success!
Surprised my husband with dinner here for Father's Day & it was hands down one of the top 3 dates we've been on in 13 years! Food was absolutely AMAZING. Drinks were STRONG. Service was impeccable. We were seated immediately upon entering and the atmosphere was intimate. They even surprised us with a platter of churros. We will definitely be back again...and again...and again!
GREAT FOOD! Service was OUTSTANDING! The manager at the time, Melvin, was SUPER helpful in helping us decide what to order for our taste! My only regret is that my stomach wasn't big enough to sample all their DELICIOUS dishes.
