Buca di Beppo - Wheeling Ratings and Reviews
The food is good, service was excellent. The roasted peppers and sausage side needs a better definition or maybe mine was just over cooked as there seemed to be more tomatoes in mine than red pepper though maybe the red peppers were cut way too small and way over cooked. Onions were the predominant flavor
Attended with party of four. Ordered four small portions of calamari, apple salad, rigatoni, checken and veal platteres, plus a couple wine decanters for each person. The chicken and veal were slim portions and only three could try. The calamari, apple salad and rigatoni were very tasty. It was quite noisy as it seemed like every table was celebrating a birthday. I wish all the patrons a happy birthday, but it was very annoying to say the least. Maybe a reduction of the amount of servers singing happy birthday would help maintain a better atmosphere. In the end it was okay experience, but quite pricey for a restaurant of this type. With tip close to $200.
Service and food where great. But there was a very Loud group of teenagers I the room and there was no attempt to quiet them down so as to not make it disturb others. We had to yell in our booth to hear each other. If it wasn't for the nice servers would not have been happy.
Decent, not great food - like an Olive Garden. They try to replicate an old neighborhood Italian restaurant, which is neat, and the food, while not great, is certainly more than good enough and they give you tons of it. For food snobs there are many better Italian Restaurants in Chicago, but Buca is fun, comfortable and reasonably priced.
My family and I frequent here quite often. Service is typically pretty decent, but this particular outing, out server was outstanding. Her name was Stephanie and she is so adorable. Such a sweet personality and she knows how to stay on top of things. She had about 3-4 other tables, but we never felt rushed or like we weren't important to her.
The food, as always was immpecable. Buca needs more servers up to the same quality as ours. We will be back to celebrate more occasions in the near future and you better believe I know who I want our server to be.
The food quality was incredible! Hard to believe, as everything is served "family style" in large bowls or platters for all the table to share. Withis type of festive atmosphere --- you just wouldn't expect the flavors and freshness you would as in a more fine ding restaurant with plated service. WRONG! The food was spot-on memorable! You will enjoy the fun and casual ambiance, even fine for kids --- but don't be fooled. Great, authentic Italian food awaits.
We were rather disappointed with how the evening turned out. When I made the reservations I was told we could be seated in the kitchen - this is a special table that seemed like it would be fun - we were celebrating my husband's "special" birthday. When we arrived, 20 minutes early for our reservation, we were told that we would not be able to be seated in the kitchen as it was already booked. I told the hostess who I had spoken to regarding this special request, however, it never made it to the reservation book. We were seated in a regular dining room. The only concession that was made to correct this error was to offer us a free dessert. All five of us were really disappointed at how this was handled.
I went there for the first time with my boyfriend for his birthday and it was AMAZING!!!! Great experience and the food was delicious. They took us on a tour of the restaurant before seating us at our table and I thought was very unique and fun. Each room had a different feel to it. We were in a nice, quiet relaxed area. The hosts and servers were all great, friendly, and attentive. No complaints what so ever! I would definitely go again and recommend to others!!!
We love Buca! Went there to celebrate our friends birthday. When we arrived there was a birthday card on the table and through our meal employees would stop by to sign the card and say Happy Birthday. The best paTrt was the candelabra and the birthday song. We all had a great lunch (the food was outstanding) and kicked off the birthday celebration in style! Our waitress Kat was awesome. Turns out her birthday was the same day as our friends! Thanks for a great time!
Had a nice time....was a late Fathers day Lunch. There were 4 of us and the portions the waitress suggested were perfect....The best was the Ice cream sundae! very cute and plenty for all 4 of us! Had to go out and buy that same kind of martini glass.....found it at Garden Ridge in Schaumburg!
The food was good our waiter Lisa was great but poor customer service with the reception, I made a reservation online but when we got there she told us it was not ready because there was an issue with it and did not offer any alternative seating, we had to just take what ever table is available but it was not to our preference. The decor is outdated, its too busy and distracting.
We had a range of ages, including an 11 year old, and most enjoyed it. Service was excellent, food advice good. The quantities are very large. Family style needs to be considered; we did. One of our appetizers was excellent, the other so-so. Of the 4 main dishes we had, one was excellent, two good, one just passable. Wine service and choices were nice.
Food was just ok, nothing special. Portion sizes too large. Some of the pasta dishes too dry. Decor is very tacky. Didn't like the plastic glasses and paper napkins. Employees are very friendly but service was intermittent. We received our meal right on top of eating our salad and then it took a very long time for dessert and to receive the check. I thought it was very over priced for the quality of food. They should focus more on quality then quantity. I might try it again but wouldn't rush right back.
We have been patrons of Buca di Beppo on several occassions over the years. In this instance,we were seated right away, and service was prompt and friendly. While the portion sizes were still famously large, the food quality has noticeably declined over the past couple of years. The recession has caused some restaurant chains to cut corners on recipes and production, which is very unfortunate. Customers can tell the differece in food quality. I would be willing to pay more for higher quality, but frankly, in Buca di Beppo's case, you cannot charge Maggianos prices for something less than Olive Garden quality food.
We were seated at 5:40 PM and not served until almost 7 PM. Bread was brought out late, as was the water. Drinks were forgotten and had to be re-ordered, only to have the wrong drinks brought to us. Food, other than the salad (which was good) was just passable. I have eaten there in the past and had a much better experience, but this recent visit is either an anomaly, or an indication of a serious slide in service. It was a bad experience that I would not like to repeat.
Every dish we ordered was delicious & served prompt; all were hot except the salad of course. Waitress was helpful with serving sizes of the dishes & content of the dishes as well. We were sitting at a long table so it was difficult to hear the conversation at times due to the noise level in the resturaunt.
