Buca di Beppo - Westlake Ratings and Reviews
Ultimately, our experience at Buca was pretty much the nice meal that I would expect from Buca, except that I took the time to note in my reservation that it was my mother's birthday, and that I would like them to come out and sing to her without me having to say something in front of her (you know, as a surprise). We ordered dessert, and we waited, and the candleabra never came out, and no songs were sung. It was a disappointment to me. By the time I realized they were not going to honor the note on my reservation, it would have been silly to ask for it. I had just wanted to avoid awkwardly going to the bathroom so I could tell the server that it was mom's birthday - not right in front of her. If you're going to take reservations, and allow for requests on the reservation, it's important that the host staff read them and then make sure the server gets the memo. It was not the most festive birthday dinner.
We had a nice dinner at Buca this past weekend with friends. The food, as always, was delicious and the portions were generous to say the least! Service was decent, but rather slow compared to previous visits even though the restaurant was not very busy. Nonetheless, we will be back again for another tasty and fun dining experience.
Kind of run of the mill Italian food, which isn't glowing I know, but if your family can share a dish, the price is ideal. We normally get the small baked ziti which is enough for my wife and me to share and still have some for leftovers the next day. My kids order of children's menu. We normally spend maybe $65-75 for family of four and end up with lunch for 4 the next day, so it works out to between $8-$10 a person for 8 servings. Good value.
Not sure why they don't serve pasta with the chicken parm, which seems standard at every other Italian place I've been to.
Atmosphere is pretty campy-Italian. Service is solid, waitresses know the menu and are attentive. Sometimes you need reservations, sometimes you don't.
Good place for an "I don't feel like cooking" dinner out with the kids.
The host acknowledged our reservation and seated us in the bar area even though they were told ahead of time we were there for a birthday celebration. It was very noisy and right by the kitchen door. Food was good. The placemat talked about reasons to celebrate a birthday at Bucca di Beppo but they did nothing to make the meal special for my daughter even though we mentioned to the waitress that it was my daughter's birthday. The worst part is that I later received an email stating that 15 minutes after our arrival the restaurant cancelled our reservation through Open Table. I called the restaurant and they said there's nothing they can do. Avoid this restaurant.
Saturday night: Reserved table for 6 w OpenTable about an hour prior. Came to the restaurant 15 minutes prior to reservation and they had to scramble to get us a seat as if they didn't really have capacity for the reservation they allowed to happen. Finally got seated 10 minutes after reservation I.e. 25 minutes wait.
It was super crowded and busy. Server asked if we were celebrating a special occasion on her first visit to the table; told her it was my birthday and she wrote that down. Seems they had lots of prom and wedding business. It was loud. There were long waits for food but they kept complimentary bread coming. The server was rushed and ran off immediately before you could ask for anything more than a single item at a time.
Lastly I had a birthday mailer coupon that implied I'd receive a complimentary slice of cassata cake in addition to $20 discount off of $40 purchase. I had to awkwardly ask if dessert was complimentary 4 times before she finally told me we'd have to buy the cake (after spending net $140 on 3 courses and alcohol). Come on, throw in a slice of cake and tone deaf happy birthday singing.
Overall disappointed in my birthday experience. I won't be back for quite some time til the bitterness subsides.
We had a lovely dinner at Buca last Sunday for Easter. We enjoyed the clam linquini with the antipasto salad. We ordered a carafe of the sangria and it was delicious--our first time to order this refreshing wine and won't be our last! Our server was courteous and our food was served promptly. We always enjoy our dinners at Buca and look forward to our next dining experience there. Thank you!
This was our first time eating at this restaurant. It was very busy on Christmas, definitely recommend making a reservation The food is served family style and the portions are huge! We had the Shrimp Fra Diabolo and Lasagna, both were wonderful! The only downside to this particular restaurant was there were a lot of stairs which isn't exactly ADA friendly. When we left the restaurant, the server offered to let use the lift to go up to the exit. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!!
We made reservations for Thanksgiving Turkey dinner @ 5pm and we were very disappointed that the turkey was gone already. They did substitute chicken however for the same price and they did still have all the other items available for the special price. The service was great and the food was also very good even though the turkey was absent. The manager was very nice to. Hopefully next year, they will ask for a commitment when they take reservations to reserve your turkey dinner will be there. It may make it easier to plan how many turkeys to cook. Our over all experience was great. Great food and good company. Thank you
Great place for taking a group of people, family style so the more you bring the more items you can try, for a small set of people like 3 pretty hard to make everyone happy because you can only order 2 dishes otherwise you will have leftovers for weeks! Staff is very friendly no matter what location, I have been in Ohio, Minnesota, and others and always find it to be quality food and great service
We had another good dinner at Bucca this past Monday evening after a six hour drive back home from visiting friends. The service was slower than usual in spite of the place not being very busy, which was new for us. Our server disappeared for long lengths of time, but fortunately we weren't lacking for water, etc. The portions were generous as always and we look forward to our next dinner with hopefully more efficient service like it normally is.
This is a fun and economical place to eat for a group. The food is served family style and the portions are generous. We had sixteen people in our group and the service was attentive and everyone was happy with their food and beverages. I am a gourmet cook and this restaurant is not for someone seeking a gourmet dining experience. However, if you want delicious Italian peasant style comfort food that is expertly prepared, this restaurant is for you.
Our dinner at Buca last Friday night again was excellent! We were seated immediately and our server arrived as we sat down and took drink and appetizer orders after explaining the menu. The portions of salad and the entrees were extremely generous for the "small" size and we took most everything home and enjoyed again for another dinner Sunday night. The food was hot and delicious and our server was courteous and attentive. We always have a fine experience at Buca and we look forward to our next dinner soon! Thanks!
We were spending the weekend in Cleveland and there were 10 of us in our group. We decided that this would be a great place that could handle our larger group. We were right. The server did a great job. We ordered 2 large entrees, 2 large appetizers, 1 large salad, 2 side dishes. There was so much food!!! We had almost an entire meal left over for the next night. Everything that we ordered arrived quickly and was delicious. The only part that we didn't care for was the "Pope Room". It was a little creepy. There is a bust of the Pope's head on the lazy susan that rotates in the middle of the table and there were pictures of the Pope on every inch of the walls. It was over kill and just a little much for us.
This was the perfect restaurant for the grandparents, parents and kids to enjoy a meal as a family . We had traveled to Cleveland area and found this gem. The chicken Marsala and veal parmigiana were delicious !! Our server was also very friendly and attentive .
