The food is really delicious here. It is all served family style so you get to try everything. It can be a bit expensive (at least to us) but we had leftovers for two additional meals. This was our third time there of which once was a group of six. There were at least 4 birthdays in there this evening having a good time. Service was friendly and efficient. Would suggest reservations as this cuts down on the waiting time. The ambiance makes you feel like you are in Italy. I did find in some areas it could be a bit dark which is nice for some occasions but made it hard to read the menu.
Great restaurant, super fun environment & awesome food!
Made a 6pm reservation for 5 on a Thursday, confirmed via text earlier that afternoon, called at 5:30pm to let front desk know that the reso reduced to 3, arrived at 6:05pm and were seated around 6:30pm. After prompting the lead hostess after waiting 10 min, she stated that they had just seated two large parties and we'd be seated momentarily...15 min later when we were being seated, the other hostess stated that she was sorry, but that they didn't have enough servers. Note that the last time I ordered take-out online, we waited about 30 minutes for our food and I vowed never to go back again. Time had passed and I thought we would give it another try for my son's 13th b-day. The restaurant was dead...by the time we left at 8pm, I saw only one table remaining and there were literally no humans in the kitchen. The Manager seemed indifferent and uncaring, like he knew the end was near and I suspect it is. I told my kids that once upon a time, this place was electric (not the Thousand Oaks location specifically, but the chain in general. I worked in hospitality for 16 years and I can sense when a restaurant chain is going down the tubes and this one clearly is. Won't ever go back. Server was okay at best...food was really good overall - ambiance was severely lacking in energy due to lack of patrons.
always fun and a favorite for evwryday and special occasions /holidays
Like dinner with my 100% Italian family !
By far, not the same quality (food) as years ago. Both the pizza and cheese bread was lacking in any cheese ... more like eating crackers (the pizza) with a dap of cheese here and there. For the price ($22), can get a better pizza at a local deli restaurant in town. Will not be returning.
Great food, great atmosphere, great service. Lots of happy people.
Even though we arrived on time we weren’t sat until 20 minutes after reservation.
always great food and fun Gerardo Reyes, mgr and the staff are top notch and always makes every visit special.... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
We had a wonderful meal in a cool environment, and our waitress was exceptional!!!
The food was pretty good. Been there 3 times and all good experience.
Good food, a bit pricey for what you get. Noise level a bit louder than I would like.
Salad was drenched in dressing and extremely salty.
Spicy chicken rigatoni was bland and pricey for what it was.
Eggplant parmigiana was decent, but not the freshest.
Chocolate cake was probably the best part of the meal.
Service was fine, nothing too spectacular.
Christmas Day so not going to criticize, as they were very busy. Only complaint was the Caesar Salad was extremely dry - my fault for not asking for more dressing, but I just didn’t enjoy it much. Everything else was very good.
Fun Xmas Eve place
I haven’t eaten at here in years and have to say we really enjoyed it for a casual night out with friends. Food was good and easy to feed vegetarians, decent wine too. I won’t wait so long to go back.
They have really big portions! Food was amazing!
The food and atmosphere was great but, the service was slow because the restaurant was crowded. I think they need more waiterson Friday and Saturday Evenings...just a thought
great food and fun. superb staff it us always a favorite for our family
Wonderful food, outstanding service, good value equals great date night.
Buca is our "go to place" for anytime. From occasions, to just "you just gotta", a good place to have your reunion with friends. Family portion to be shared with company. Thumbs up!
Our waiter Joe, was great. The food was delicious, the seating was perfect (I'm hard of hearing and we had a booth so I could hear our conversation better) our friends paid for corkage and enjoyed two bottles of wine. The location is lovely and it was a win. We'll be back many, many times.
We had a wonderful waiter, very attentive. Food was just OK, overpriced for the portions.
This was my first time eating at this restaurant. I like the family style, but actually prefer an individual serving or entree. The lasagne was good, but I've tasted better. The shrimp flirentine, though, was great. The ambiance was fair, but I heard no Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin, as noted on the internet.
Mother's Day, 13 people at 11:45. We were seated at long narrow table, which was hard for family style setting. Never did get to sample food at the other end of the table. Service was very good and food was tasty. Careful here as its very easy to order too much food as we did. When they say a serving feeds 5 or 6 believe it!
The food was great and delivered quickly. Our family loves serving family style. Scott, the manager, seated us right away. Highly recommend the TO restaurant.
In my view Buca is becoming less and less interesting. Menus are stale & repetitive, ambiance seldom changes, tables & booths are too tight, serves way too much food. Have asked for a senior menu often to no avail. Last waiter would not permit me to order a child's portion. They don't even offer Angel Hair pasta.
For a Saturday night it was not super packed. We had a reservation and we were seated immediately. Our waiter was quick to greet us and take our drink order. At no time did I feel rushed. The staff was attentive but not hovering which I appreciate. This is one of our go to places the dinner itself is good but the leftovers the next day oh mama Mia.
21st birthday celebration. Waiter was very attentive, professional, and accomodating. Family style meals are always a good bargain here.
Overall, Buca is a good bet for a casual and good Italian food with an upbeat atmosphere. The cost of dining at Buca does not match the expectation of an inexpensive casual restaurant. Dinner for two with my son and with only one glass of house wine cost me $100, including tip, which in my opinion is over priced!
We always love Bucca for family dinners. It was my daughter's 13th birthday and she picked the place. Yummy as always!
Awesome dinner, will definitely be back!
Originally, I had made a reservations for Maggianos, but when I saw Buca de Beppo was close to the theatre I thought to myself... well, it has a fun ambience with decent food. Every place is going to be busy for New Year's Eve dinner anyways, so I changed my reservation to Buca. I arrived on time and let the gal know I had a reservation. She didn't seem to find it, but said she would find a seat for us anyways. At first, the hostess wanted to sit us by an outer doorway and I objected. Then we were sat in the bar even though which was ... a bar ... a lacked a lot of the charm that a family restaurant room has. I don't normally get fussy, but I asked if we could move to a real dining area since we had reservations. Finally, we were seated in a regular dining room and noted as we passed through the parlors and nooks that most had plenty of open tables, so it was unclear why we were seated in the previous places. We were were not shoddily dressed so I can only guess why we had to go through that. After that the evening was okay and the food was okay. However, I found myself wishing I had kept my original reservations at Maggianos.
Great food, good value and good service. Overall a great place to eat.
We went for Christmas dinner so it was busy, but that was fine. The service was passable, though the server was a bit rude and screwed up our order. I understand that people make mistakes, but when we pointed out that she had ordered us the wrong food, her response was to blame us and get upset with us and then tell us it would be an hour to get the right food. We declined as we had already waited about 45 minutes for our food and asked her to remove the order for the dish she screwed up. She was also disorganized with the drinks, giving my son the refill of a guy from another table and the guy from the other table, my son's cup of diet cola. In the end, for the money it cost, the dinner was unsatisfactory and a disappointment and we will likely eat somewhere else next Christmas.
This was our third year to celebrate Christmas at Buca di Beppo and it did not disappoint. As usual the food was delicious and plentiful and the service very good. It is ideal for groups.
The food and service was great. The ambiance was perfect for a family dinner. Our server was awesome. They would have got 5 stars but the men's bathroom was a little messy. Not dirty... just needed some tidying up.
To many pictures on the walls. They need to dust them. Food is expensive, even though it is family style. Only went because we were given a gift certificate.
Enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with the family at Buca Di Beppo in Thousand Oaks - Great food, service & ambience! Exceeded my expectations, highly recommend for any occasion!
We went there for Thanksgiving Dinner. The service was slow and I think our server was high or stoned or drunk and she vanished half way through the meal. The food wasn't that good for the price. Not going back.
