Long wait for food and drinks. Otherwise, a very good place for catching up with old friends.
Delicious lunch, over priced though.
Our server Bill was amazing! Celebrated parents anniversary and a birthday too!
Excelled t experience. Great food with snappy, friendly and accommodating service. Perfect for our night out to celebrate a friend's new job!
The food was great and, Susie, our waitress was also great!
We took advantage of the “Sunday Dinner” that was sent in an email announcement. We had plenty of food and enjoyed ourselves!
Been here many times I always had a good experience this time our waiter was not very personable food was still excellent just barely saw our server
Very good basic Italian food. Tables are squeezed to close for me. Service was good but nothing special.
I was very disappointed with this visit. The menu AND pricing has changed and I feel it is just overpriced. At first our waitress tried to convince us that the pricing hadn't changed, that it was just that they split up the portions if you were sharing with others. but I usually order one of the same 2 things EVEYTIME I go and I know the price hadn't been that much in the past. Then she finally said oh yea, the prices increased a little. If you are going to increase pricing, the service should definitely match. Our waitress couldn't be found at times and was not attentive at all. My daughter was turning 20 and chose this restaurant to have a family dinner at, and midway through, I wished we had just went to the Olive Garden.
Fun place to go, but poor value unless you have lots of people splitting the check.
Service was not pleasant. Salad left a lot to be desired. The main dish was amazing but the desert was blah.
I will go back if other people in my party wanted to to but for the money there’s way better Italian places.
I recommend the penne vodka pasta and the garlic toast. Buca needs to double the mashed potato and green bean portions - both were pitiful. The chicken entrees were very tasty and savory.
Las Vegas was awesome. Minneapolis not. The service was terrible with a lot of mistakes but no offer to comp or make it right! How hard is..... Dressing on the side please???????
4 of us dined here together New Year's Eve at 8:00 pm. Have dined here multiple times and always found it great: good food with excellent and attentive service. This was not the situation this time! We will not be returning. When we ordered, we were told they were out of their meatballs and their red marinara sauce with meat, so had to totally re-think our menu choices. Server told us this when we were ordering, not when we were first seated. We ordered 4 small-size entrees and when they came out, two came out together, and the other two did not come out for another 15 minutes. When we were served our first tow entrees, we all noticed we did not have any forks. Our server never checked back after those first entrees were dropped off and we could not get any server to stop by. One of us had to get up from the table and go to the back of the restaurant and hunt down a server to request forks. By that time, one of first entrees was cold and sent back to the kitchen. Once we had forks to eat with and all of our entrees were on the table, we were able to enjoy the quality of the food. Given this experience, which really detracted from our festive time, we will not be back. There are many other choices in the Twin Cities area for good Italian that consistently deliver both on the food quality and on the level of service.
The food was great as always! We prefer to sit in one of the bar booths, if available. We were granted our request. The bad news is the server ordered our food and we never saw him again. We had to track down a manager to get us boxes and our check as we had tickets for an event and didn’t want to be late. Never received any sort of apology from the server. First time we have ever left with out tipping. The manager was super apologetic and we appreciate all he did for us.
NYE dinner, other than being out of a couple things we ordered, everything was great, including the recommendations by the server for replacement meal options.
We had good time. It was New Year's Eve so they were very busy. Most of the food was good and the service was good considering how busy they were. We will definitely go back and recommend Buca dinner Beppo in St Paul!
Dining area was not super busy. We placed our order and waited. 25 minutes later, bread and salad arrived and within 5 minutes, the entrees arrived. Lots of waiting and then all food at once. Then it became more rushed. Food was excellent. May try take out next time.
Great for big parties
Had a reservation for 8 at 7 pm with 3 kids. Was seated at 720 pm—hostess said delay was because people won’t leave their tables. Waitress seemed swamped—didn’t come by table until 15 mins after we were seated. Drinks order was placed, took another 15 minutes for our waitress to let us know that they were out of Peroni. We were able to place our food order at that time and bread finally came 5 minutes later. Food started coming around 8:15 for salad and garlic bread. Hostess started checking on our table not even before we received the main course, and then proceeded to come by every 15 minutes or so. We didn’t get our final main course until 845, and paid/received bill around 9.
We were at Buca on Christmas Day to celebrate our daughter's birthday. It is hard to find restaurants that are open beyond the hotel restaurants and Chinese restaurants on Christmas. Buca fit the bill nicely. Family style service, bountiful plates, food was good. And they celebrated with song and a candle. My only complaints were that we were seated 30 minutes after our Open Table reservation, we didn't see a server even then for 15 minutes (for water!) . They also didn't tell us they had a limited (more expensive) Christmas menu. Ziti and proscuitto stuffed chicken breasts for 7 (2 kids) with a bottle of wine and very few leftovers ran us more than $200.
I have been to Buca many times but something went wrong this time. We had to waite 2 hours for our food and had to use plastic silverware for utensils because the dishwasher was backed up. We waited an hour for coffee because there were no cups and had to eat off our salad plates because there weren't any entree plates clean. The place was busy but there were many empty tables. Food was good and the waiter was nice.
Always a fun experience with good food at a fair price. Went on Christmas day so they were extremely busy, short staffed and out of lasagna, but the front-end host did a great job of managing the crowds and staff.
Xmas eve and the restaurant was understaffed and unorganized in the section we were seated in. Had reservations and seated on small out of the way room which was quieter but understaffed.
We added two extra people to our reservation for six for the Kitchen Table, which made it a bit tight. Also their was a bit of a smoky haze from the kitchen which made us all cough at times. But the food and service were both very good!
Great food and service. Very crowded Saturday night. Neighborhood gem
I haven’t been to Buca in awhile and was looking forward to the old Italian songs that they played. No music and the lights were very very brightly lit. The food took 45 minutes to get to us: 2 entrees. Wait staff was very nice and food delicious in spite of these disappointments.
This was one of the worst dining experiences we have ever had. We changed our reservation time and they refused to accommodate it. Our table was in the middle of the room and we were asked multiple times to move so servers could get around us (they shouldn't have squeezed a table in such a small spot). We were never brought bread to the table. We ordered beers at the bar and brought them to our table-we finished them rather quickly and the server never offered more. Our food was cold and no one stopped to check on us. The table next to us (who we were practically sitting on top of) had multiple problems too. The table behind us asked to speak to the manager about the horrible service.
Food was okay. 1/3 of our order never arrived. Had to ask repeatedly for a glass of water. 6/7 glasses on table. Incomplete silverware, missing dinner plates. Waiter never checked in. Loud dining room, decor is long in the tooth. Won’t return and can’t recommend others visit.
First of all, we come here every year with our 6 kids.
While the ambiance has a moderate level of noise, there’s enough visual stimulation to entertain our kids.
Bio was our sever, and despite the fact he had at least 3 other tables of 6+ people each, his service was top notch.
Food arrived quickly, and from start to finish, we were there for 1.5 hours.
As we always do, I’d highly recommend getting a reservation, or you’ll be waiting.
It was wonderful, all the way around! Thank you so much!
We had a large group of 20, and the service was outstanding! Always a smiling face serving us, and were made to feel appreciated. Value was superb as well!
Delicious food and fun ambiance. This is a great place to share plates with friends.
Service was horrible. Reservation at 6:30pm and arrived at 6:25pm. Not seated until 6:50pm, and no water or server until 7:15pm when we physically got up to find somebody. We have been to this location several times with consistently poor service from hosts to servers. We will not be back.
Very disappointing. Appetizers were so spicy that we could not eat the shrimp. No warning. No accommodations. High prices on beverages. Will never return.
As always food was great. Only issue is wait staff appeared to be overwhelmed, slower than is normal for this restaurant. She was a good server but seemed like she had too many tables to handle efficiently. No complaints about her service just it took too long to get her back to the table. Food was excellent and came very quick. Overall a lot of fun and great experience.
I had to bring my family back here after we had a wonderful time recently at a Yelp Elite Event. We decided to have a go at their normal menu and see what strike our fancy.
First off, I love the décor and feel of the place. It smells like your grandparents house, that old woody antiquey smell. There are lots of fun tidbits scattered all around the building, it is almost like a video game full of little Easter Eggs that you get the pleasure to find.
The menu is a little different than other restaurants in that everything is served "family style." You have two sizes to pick from, small and large. Quick word of wisdom, if you are ordering pasta keep in mind that the large size will easily feed more than five people. If you order a, entrée dish that isn't pasta, the large size will adequately feed about five people. Since we didn't really know this, we ordered a large entrée and pasta. There was plenty of pasta left over for a whole other meal.
The food that we had was very good. The marinara sauce and red sauces were made from fresh tomatoes and a very tasteful olive oil. We had the Prosciutto Stuffed Chicken and the Chicken Carbonara. Both dishes were very tasty and we left plenty stuffed.
We finished our meal with an order of Chocolate Chip Cannolis. A little surprised by the portion since the price and portion (only 3) doesn't seem to match up, not really work $4 a cannoli. Other than that we were happy with our meal and plan on coming back.
Terrible. Kitchen did not have act together. Got main entree right away and they tried to serve salad and appetizer 20 after we were finished with main meal. Meatballs were over cooked and inedible!
