Buca di Beppo - Southlake Ratings and Reviews
Never going again, and very dissappointed. We got a Cesar salad, which was great, some meat balls, that were edible but were served in a bland canned sauce, and then we got a pasta. It was so bad, i asked for the check right away, because I didn’t know how to tell the waitress that the pasta was unedible and terrible. The noodles were gummy, the sauce was sour and watery, and the chicken was boiled and bland too. I really wanted to like it, but it was bad. Our server was sweet, but don’t eat here.
We decided to eat here for thanksgiving dinner. We were a party of seven and were initially sat at a table for six with and extra chair hanging into the path to the kitchen. After three people came back we were moved to another table that was adequate. Since the restaurant is family style we ordered apps and salad to start. The bruschetta was served with crostini that tasted more like croutons they were so overly toasted. Also the topping being set in th glass had the unfortunate result of a bland serving of chopped tomatoes with very little else. The fried mozzarella was good. Caesar salad was good and one large bowl fed all seven of us.
I ordered entree’s at the same time. Spaghetti with meatballs, fettuccini Alfredo, chicken parm, chicken limon, and eggplant parm. We waited about 20-25 minutes after we finished apps and salad to receive our entré. It was then brought and the chicken limon had been dropped. That took another ten minutes. Needless to say by the time our meal came most people had little interest in eating as our initial food settled.
Our waitress was good and kept glasses full and checked on us. It would have been nice if she acknowledged the wait for our main meal. We took most of it home.
I was also disappointed to hear they don’t have a military discount available.
Was extremely disappointed with the meal and overall experience. Had to send back the calamari because it was lukewarm, soft and gummy. It was replaced, but not much better. The fried cheese tasted burned. The main dishes (pasta) took a very long time to arrive. Once our main dishes (pasta) arrived, they were at best lukewarm. It appeared that they sat under a heat lamp for quite some time. Wrapped up the meal with the incorrect tab. We have dined here before and yesterday proved to be a very disappointing dining experience. Doubt we will return.
They gave our table away to a party of three that walked in after we had a reservation
Then they put us in the bar, we were the one table that was ignored.... everyone around us got great service
We were the last table to get our meals
And dessert took forever
We went for a birthday dinner on a week night. There were very few diners in the restaurant, but the wait time for our food was excessive. The waiter noted that they had several large to-go orders that were a challenge for the small kitchen staff, which led to the long wait time for those who were dining at the restaurant. No offer was made to make up for the wait time (i.e., a free appetizer or dessert). No birthday dessert to make the occasion special. Just order from the menu as usual. Costly for the type and quality of food served.
We have always enjoyed this restaurant and brought a group that expanded to 23. We had one waiter!! One! Three and a half hours later we finally paid and left. Food came one item at a time, even though we ordered the same items for each table. Our waiter couldn't keep up with drink refills, clean plates and the orders. We over-ordered (our server should have been more help with that at the beginning) and ended up taking home almost half of our entrees, and those were split into unmarked containers! What a disaster! People had to leave before the table was cleared and food packed up for take-away. You really messed up on this one, Buca di Beppo! Never put a party of 20 plus with only one waiter and no additional help.
We made an open table reservation for 10 people at Buca for convenience and knew it would be a place where our group would be easily accommodated. When we arrived, we were taken to our table right away. The restaurant was not crowded. Although we had a reservation for 10 people, were put in the corner at a table for 8 people with the other 2 spots "squeezed in". There was an additional set-up for 8 people right next to us (exact same size as ours; but not crammed in the corner) and we made a request to move or have one of those tables moved over so that we could spread out. Our request was denied because they said there was another party with a reservation for 8 people about to arrive. We worked our way through a cramped dinner with marginal service for 1.5 hours. That table setting for 8 next to us remained open for the entire dinner and was still open when we left. While I have normally had good experience with this Buca location and our family likes to go there ... this visit was probably our last time. The service was poor, some of our food was cold and the management clearly didn't care about addressing the cramped seating for our group.
Our server was not good. Did not know the wine selection enough to point out where Moscato was. Finished plates sat on table after multiple visits by the server. Photographer took a picture of my wife and I and a cleaner bottle was behind my head up on the top area of the seat. It was later joined by rags. We came here with friends for our anniversary and were sincerely let down. Buca di Beppo should be a great experience and this one was terrible. Very disappointed.
Good spot for spending time with friends or family. Decent variety of items to pick from and have all your regular italian menu items. Service was a bit slow, but they seemed pretty busy. The food this time was pretty good and I enjoyed the photos taken by the photographer.
We were a party of 12 there to celebrate two graduations. My in-laws were already there and had water which I thought would mean our servers knew we were there. After about ten minutes with no menus and no attention I approached a waiter who went to find out waiter. Then another came by and said he would look for our waiter. Finally a third waiter came by to help us. He took our drink order and we ordered and app and salads. These two courses came out in a good timing. We then sat for at least 20 min after this until our entree came out. When it did only half came out. We then waited another five minutes and finally flagged down another waiter who went back and got the rest of our order which had been sitting. Our waiter disappeared for big stretches but was cordial and helpful when he did come by.
The food was as expected. We ordered chicken parm and chicken limon as well as pasta with alfredo and meatballs. The pasta dishes did not have enough pasta for the money. We
Also had two salads as well as broccoli which was heavy on the red pepper flake.
The biggest complaint was the lack of supervision. Other waiters in our area could be heard complaining about clearing tables and restocked dishes like they were throwing them on the shelves. The sound was deafening and detracted from the meal. I'm all for having fun but they were just griping and could care less about who heard and what they did to annoy those around them. Given that the bill was about $20 a person the value was poor for a pasta dinner.
Really bummed with our experience here. We have 4 people in our party of seven that are over 6 feet tall. Fitting into rounded booth wasn't going to work for us. They easily moved us but to a cramped table that would have better accommodated 4.
Service didn't make the visit better. Often had to hunt down server to get refills on our drinks despite the restaurant not being busy. Asking for another plate for oil seemed like we were special requesting something on the menu. We have always loved the food which at least still tasted good. Unfortunately we were put off enough by the seating and the service that we likely won't return. Too many other restaurants in our area.
Well, it was Mother's Day. I had a gift card for dinner that someone gave to me as a birthday gift. I booked a reservation thru OpenTable for a moderately late dinner (7:00 pm) to hopefully be past the Mother's Day brunchers, lunchers and early bird diners. We (party of 3) arrived 10 min early and there was a large group of people waiting to be seated. We checked in and still waited about 30 minutes to be seated, even with our reservation. The staff were friendly and tried to accommodate as best as possible, but you could tell they were just overwhelmed. We had to ask for silverware 3 times. My oldest daughter eventually just went to the hostess stand and got our silverware. We ordered appetizers and our entrees. Appetizers came out in a reasonable time, but we waited an hour for our the entree. By the time the entrees arrived, we had filled up on salad and garlic bread. We took 3 bites of the entree and then asked for To Go boxes. The waiter felt bad and did adjust our bill for the inconvenience. My beef is not with the wait staff, as they clearly had been verbally abused all day by the hangry mobs. I think the kitchen staff was in complete disarray and order . The table behind us also waited an hour for their dinner . Not sure if they were short staffed that day or just not prepared for the amount of people wanting to dine on Mother's Day. We really love the food and the restaurant. Just will try to avoid it on any special holidays going forward.
Our reservation was at 4pm. They walked us in at 4:30 just to see the our table wasn't cleaned. About 10-15 minutes later, we were seated again. Our waiter, Josh, was so helpful and made the wait worth it. Food did not disappoint. We were all happy about that. As we waited for our table, I realized why our table wasn't ready. The busboy was more like the sloth boy. It took him over 10 minutes to clean one table. Another 10 plus minutes to clean another table. Overall, my family were pleased with Josh and the food.
The food was great! The waiter was a little slow on getting drinks filled, and didn't really check on us. However, he had a great personality. Bathrooms were very dirty. My frozen peach bellini was not as strong as a regular peach bellini. For the same price, they should have had the same amount of alcohol. I will be back because the food and atmosphere are good. I just don't have high expectations for this place.
8pm reservation turned into 845 and we ended up in large walkway rather than separate room for our party of 10. Extremely loud with waiters clapping and shouting for celebrations of large groups. Makes talking with others in your group impossible. Rowdy atmosphere if thats what you are looking for.
This is a good representative for this casual chain of Italian food restaurants. There are many small rooms with many different sized tables and booths and you would think that would keep the noise level down. But as the tables filled, the noise level became quite high. Enjoy the excitement in the air or go early and enjoy a quieter experience. You will be sharing your space with all manner of groups from family outings to bachelorette parties. All food is served family style for a minimum of 2-3 large portions so go with people you don't mind sharing with and can agree with on what to order. Our service was excellent, food was very good for the price, and we enjoyed our experience there.
