Great food and fun atmosphere! Same as the one in Chicago which makes it even more enjoyable to us.
Great customer service! They sat us at our table quickly with our reservation time.
This is a typical Buca’s with all the weird fun old photos on the walls. It’s a great place for large groups, good for small kids, & overall a great fun outing for our group.
I’m not a huge Italian food fan and my food rating may reflect that. No one in our party of 8 complained about anything.
Save room for the huge deserts as they are very good & filling.
I felt this Buca’s was as good or better customer service wise than the Buca’s I went to on quite a few occasions in Northern & Southern Ca.
Employees were all in a fun positive mood, which in my opinion is a big reflection of the restaurant manager.
Great job & thanks Old Scottsdale Buca’s!
We went in for mothers day and were happy with the food, however, we were there for 2.5 hrs from the time we sat down until we were done paying the check. Our server took WAY to long to check in on us and was not very informed (he needed to check on every question we had about the menu.) Ordering our food took 45 min. Not planning on going back anytime soon.
My daughter took me for Mother’s Day and it was so delicious! Our service was excellent and we had a great lunch!
We had a wonderful dinner with excellent service. Could not have been better.
We came in before 6:00 on a Tuesday with reservations. We were told there was no happy hour that night? There were three adults and four kids: daughter and our grandkids, who are visiting from out-of-state, and we were celebrating Mother’s Day for her, which I had noted on my open table reservation (because they were leaving the next day).
We ordered the mac & cheese right off because the kids were hungry, and it came out fairly quickly. We got the anti pasta salad next and it was already soggy with little cheese and meat. We had to ask for bread (kids favorite) and it took a while. The entrées came out much later and were room temp (not even warm) like they had been sitting a bit... We got a small amount of bread the second time after asking twice, and she never offered to bring more once the late entrées came out and the kids had already finished their mac & cheese. Remember, there were 7 of us ...
I requested extra stuff for the 3/4 of the soggy salad we were taking home and the server did bring out a container with some olives and sliced meat, no cheese.
We spent $80 and left disappointed.
I will say we usually enjoy our meals here and why I said I would recommend to others, but this was not the norm and they were not very busy.
It was prom. The food was out really quick but I wanted the bread and the waiter forgot it. I’m not going to count them off for it tho
Bri was great, food was good, birthday surprise too!
The restaurant was well decorated and fun. It had that “enter from the kitchen” vibe, which is appropriate for the style they were going for. It reminds me of a kid-friendly version of Durant’s. The food was good, and the small size of bread, salad, pasta and chicken parmigiana was enough to feed two adults, a 6 year old, a picky teenager and a baby and still have some left over. The food was a bit over priced for the quality but no complaints on the food from the kids. The service was extremely lacking. Our sever asked if it was our first time in and despite the fact that we said yes, he seemed very annoyed that we didn’t know how “it worked” and that he had to repeat himself a few times. He was not friendly nor was he attentive and focused more on the people around us instead of us. My wife wanted to try this place for her birthday and does not want to come back. Thank you to the restaurant for writing our names on the birthday board but one name was incorrect. The hostess who seated us was kind, but when we left they just stared at us. No “thanks for coming in”—nothing. I expected more from the reputation and what we spent.
Excellent attention by the staff for a party of two!
A great family style venue!
The lasagna was burnt and the burnt flavor permeated throughout the whole entree. Not good.
Great for all casual family get together a!!!
Family of 10 on Spring Break. Perfect place to take the kids and let them be kids. They also have great servers and are very accustomed to larger groups. Great chow!
I've never been here before, but I was NOT disappointed. The food was fantastic! The service was amazing. Spencer was our waiter and was the perfect mix between attentive and giving us our space. This will definitely become a regular favorite for us.
Friend in town
Excellent food! Big portions. This is family style servings so bring an appetite.
great place to eat conveniently located in old town Scottsdale, food is family size portion
I was surprised at the quality of the eggplant parm. usually it is excellent but it seemed to be a little burnt. we ordered a salad to split before that and we were only part way through when our entree arrived. I felt the server was rushing us. she should have timed it better.
Gabe was theee best
Our waitress did a good enough job. Some kind of issue caused us to wait a very long time to get our dinner.
Great for big family and friend get together this place offer great tasting food at awesome value
Great family restraunt. Kids love it. Would recommend when in Scottsdale or area
The food was wonderful, we always enjoy it here. A great experience.
We had a group of 10 for a family birthday celebration. The food was wonderful, we loved our round table. The only complaint was that service was a little slow. Slipping from a leisurely meal to an experience that dragged a little - waiting too long for entrees to arrive and too long for service at the end of meal... and the place was not busy. But the food was wonderful. We will return.
There were several large parties tonight, which definitely affected our experience. Our food took forever, when it came it had to be sent back for being undercooked, and the replacement food took twice as long as it did the first time. It was good when it came out, but not necessarily worth the hassle. The “small” family size order doesn’t serve three, it doesn’t even really serve two unless you also ordered appetizers and salads and pasta. My husband and I did a chicken dish and a side veggie and were still hungry after.
The garlic bread was the best part of this experience. We were seated quickly. The woman passing out the menus Apologized for the menus all sticking together and told us she’s not the usual hostess. The menus and table were a bit sticky, or should we just say dirty. This is a restaurant that serves QUANTITY over quality. We tried it. Box is checked. No need to return.
We went to Buca i Beppo on New Years Day in the afternoon at 4:00 thinking it would be a good time to miss the evening crowd. We missed the crowd but were very disappointed that an Italian Restaurant would be out of Lasagna ( a signature dish according to the menu) and they also could not make the special Italian red Sangria because they were out of the key ingredient (red wine).
We settled for Rigatoni which has the same ingredients as the Lasagna , except for the noodles ( we are guessing that what they ran out of were Lasagna noodles). Flavor was good, but not the dish we wanted.
We ordered a regular patron Margarita. It was okay, but not what we really wanted.
The service was disorganized. We had to ask the waitress for plates since the person serving the food did not notice we did not have them. It took several minutes to get the plates because the waitress was busy at the next table which was a large group. When she brought the check she had charged me for the Sangria we did not get along with the margaritas and had added an extra charge to the margarita for Cavo Waco for which we did not ask. She removed the extra charge after we asked her to do so, but not before going back to the bartender to get his approval and admission that it was an error.
For a Buca di Beppo which we have been to in other cities, the the restaurant was small and slightly crowded and the interior was old.
This one did not live up to our expectations.
They were not prepared for the NYE crowd
Ran out of food, slow service and wrong orders were delivered to our table multiple times.
We visited on New Years Eve and we had a party of 14. We were expecting a lengthy dinner but was unprepared for the 3 hours it took. We had small children in our party so we were challenged to keep them occupied for this length of time. Also we were charged for items we never received but didn’t note this till after our payment was taken care of. There was only one waitress helping us and she was also assigned to other tables. I asked for a glass of water 3 times and it never appeared. I was also seated without a place setting and after asking for a fork and napkin it finally arrived 5 minutes after the first course. More wait staff would have helped the situation.
Despite OpenTable confirmation, I’m not sure reservation was received at host stand. We were promptly seated, but did not receive a booth and were at a large table for 6 that was cleared for us 2. It was at least 5 min (likely closer to 10) before a passing by server asked if we had been helped. He promptly took our complete order and brought waters out and did his best to take our table in addition to his busy workload. The server, Gabe, was clearly working hard and his service made up for the seating confusion. Food was FANTASTIC! Def worth coming back and trying again. Was not great date atmosphere at large community table.
Christmas day had a special limited menu, either order for 3 or 5, and we were 2!! We made a reservation but they were under staffed so we waited about 20 minutes for a table. The waiter said the kitchen was backed up but our 2 courses wound up being brought out at almost the same time. But it was Christmas Day!
There were three of us. We ate here on Christmas Day because only a limited number of restaurants were open, and many of those had no reservations left. (We made reservations fairly late because we'd just had a death in the family and didn't know in advance that we would be eating out.) We hadn't been here before, so we didn't realize that all meals were for 3-5 people. Since our elderly mother is allergic to onions, we had to share one dish that wasn't made with fresh onions, and there were only two such options available. We really wish that people could choose either shared or individual meals. But what really upset us was the $17 price for one glass of wine (just a common label, not something extra special). The server was just fine--none of this was her fault--but we don't plan to eat here again.
Christmas Eve fun!
It was great. A lot of food for two people
Food took a long time and quality not that good !
Busy but not too fussy. Good comfort food.
Keep in mind I made my reservations 2 weeks before the day we were having dinner. The day of, Buca di Beppo called 20-minutes before my reservation to tell me that they ran out of turkey for the thanksgiving meal. The lady said they ran out around 3pm but only called me at 6:40 to let me know. As we arrived to the restaurant, the lady at the front said they were no longer serving any thanksgiving food, great. So we ended up staying and ordering italian food. We received our appetizer and 15-minutes later or so we received one of the dishes we ordered. We figured the other order would be coming soon so we waited to eat the one dish we had. Fast forward 45 minutes, many questions to the server and manager, and no second dish, we were infuriated. When we finally received the other meal, we were already there for an hour and a half. The owner/manager gave us the meal for free but this experience was terrible from the beginning. Worst customer service I've seen in a long time. This was our first time at Buca di Beppo and I will not be returning to any.
We apologize for the inconvenience. We have been made aware of the situation and are currently addressing it. Thank you for bringing it to our attention again.
They ran out of Thanksgiving dinner before 5:45 = didnt make sense to many of us
We are so sorry to hear that we let you down – especially on such a special day! We would like to get in touch to see how we can assist.
We went for the thanksgiving dinner, arrived at our reservation time only to be told they “ran out” of the Thanksgiving dinner. No phone call, no manager, nothing but a grumpy apology from hostess.
Nicoletta, we are truly sorry for the frustrating experience and we hope for the opportunity to try to make things right.
