I've never been here before, but I was NOT disappointed. The food was fantastic! The service was amazing. Spencer was our waiter and was the perfect mix between attentive and giving us our space. This will definitely become a regular favorite for us.
great place to eat conveniently located in old town Scottsdale, food is family size portion
I was surprised at the quality of the eggplant parm. usually it is excellent but it seemed to be a little burnt. we ordered a salad to split before that and we were only part way through when our entree arrived. I felt the server was rushing us. she should have timed it better.
Gabe was theee best
Our waitress did a good enough job. Some kind of issue caused us to wait a very long time to get our dinner.
Great for big family and friend get together this place offer great tasting food at awesome value
Great family restraunt. Kids love it. Would recommend when in Scottsdale or area
The food was wonderful, we always enjoy it here. A great experience.
We had a group of 10 for a family birthday celebration. The food was wonderful, we loved our round table. The only complaint was that service was a little slow. Slipping from a leisurely meal to an experience that dragged a little - waiting too long for entrees to arrive and too long for service at the end of meal... and the place was not busy. But the food was wonderful. We will return.
There were several large parties tonight, which definitely affected our experience. Our food took forever, when it came it had to be sent back for being undercooked, and the replacement food took twice as long as it did the first time. It was good when it came out, but not necessarily worth the hassle. The “small” family size order doesn’t serve three, it doesn’t even really serve two unless you also ordered appetizers and salads and pasta. My husband and I did a chicken dish and a side veggie and were still hungry after.
The garlic bread was the best part of this experience. We were seated quickly. The woman passing out the menus Apologized for the menus all sticking together and told us she’s not the usual hostess. The menus and table were a bit sticky, or should we just say dirty. This is a restaurant that serves QUANTITY over quality. We tried it. Box is checked. No need to return.
We went to Buca i Beppo on New Years Day in the afternoon at 4:00 thinking it would be a good time to miss the evening crowd. We missed the crowd but were very disappointed that an Italian Restaurant would be out of Lasagna ( a signature dish according to the menu) and they also could not make the special Italian red Sangria because they were out of the key ingredient (red wine).
We settled for Rigatoni which has the same ingredients as the Lasagna , except for the noodles ( we are guessing that what they ran out of were Lasagna noodles). Flavor was good, but not the dish we wanted.
We ordered a regular patron Margarita. It was okay, but not what we really wanted.
The service was disorganized. We had to ask the waitress for plates since the person serving the food did not notice we did not have them. It took several minutes to get the plates because the waitress was busy at the next table which was a large group. When she brought the check she had charged me for the Sangria we did not get along with the margaritas and had added an extra charge to the margarita for Cavo Waco for which we did not ask. She removed the extra charge after we asked her to do so, but not before going back to the bartender to get his approval and admission that it was an error.
For a Buca di Beppo which we have been to in other cities, the the restaurant was small and slightly crowded and the interior was old.
This one did not live up to our expectations.
They were not prepared for the NYE crowd
Ran out of food, slow service and wrong orders were delivered to our table multiple times.
We visited on New Years Eve and we had a party of 14. We were expecting a lengthy dinner but was unprepared for the 3 hours it took. We had small children in our party so we were challenged to keep them occupied for this length of time. Also we were charged for items we never received but didn’t note this till after our payment was taken care of. There was only one waitress helping us and she was also assigned to other tables. I asked for a glass of water 3 times and it never appeared. I was also seated without a place setting and after asking for a fork and napkin it finally arrived 5 minutes after the first course. More wait staff would have helped the situation.
Despite OpenTable confirmation, I’m not sure reservation was received at host stand. We were promptly seated, but did not receive a booth and were at a large table for 6 that was cleared for us 2. It was at least 5 min (likely closer to 10) before a passing by server asked if we had been helped. He promptly took our complete order and brought waters out and did his best to take our table in addition to his busy workload. The server, Gabe, was clearly working hard and his service made up for the seating confusion. Food was FANTASTIC! Def worth coming back and trying again. Was not great date atmosphere at large community table.
Christmas day had a special limited menu, either order for 3 or 5, and we were 2!! We made a reservation but they were under staffed so we waited about 20 minutes for a table. The waiter said the kitchen was backed up but our 2 courses wound up being brought out at almost the same time. But it was Christmas Day!
There were three of us. We ate here on Christmas Day because only a limited number of restaurants were open, and many of those had no reservations left. (We made reservations fairly late because we'd just had a death in the family and didn't know in advance that we would be eating out.) We hadn't been here before, so we didn't realize that all meals were for 3-5 people. Since our elderly mother is allergic to onions, we had to share one dish that wasn't made with fresh onions, and there were only two such options available. We really wish that people could choose either shared or individual meals. But what really upset us was the $17 price for one glass of wine (just a common label, not something extra special). The server was just fine--none of this was her fault--but we don't plan to eat here again.
Christmas Eve fun!
It was great. A lot of food for two people
Food took a long time and quality not that good !
Keep in mind I made my reservations 2 weeks before the day we were having dinner. The day of, Buca di Beppo called 20-minutes before my reservation to tell me that they ran out of turkey for the thanksgiving meal. The lady said they ran out around 3pm but only called me at 6:40 to let me know. As we arrived to the restaurant, the lady at the front said they were no longer serving any thanksgiving food, great. So we ended up staying and ordering italian food. We received our appetizer and 15-minutes later or so we received one of the dishes we ordered. We figured the other order would be coming soon so we waited to eat the one dish we had. Fast forward 45 minutes, many questions to the server and manager, and no second dish, we were infuriated. When we finally received the other meal, we were already there for an hour and a half. The owner/manager gave us the meal for free but this experience was terrible from the beginning. Worst customer service I've seen in a long time. This was our first time at Buca di Beppo and I will not be returning to any.
They ran out of Thanksgiving dinner before 5:45 = didnt make sense to many of us
We went for the thanksgiving dinner, arrived at our reservation time only to be told they “ran out” of the Thanksgiving dinner. No phone call, no manager, nothing but a grumpy apology from hostess.
We went for thanksgiving to celebrate the holiday
3 pm reservation
When we arrived, we were told. “ sorry we are out of turkey dinner!” Really?
How was that calculated by management
Perhaps a call to each reservation would have been appropriate, rather than continuing to fill the take out orders
Such a disappointment
all the food on thanksgiving was great. the chicken, mashed potatoes, stuffing, pasta, but a big time embarassing when i have a group of 6 and they ran out of turkey. not acceptable, was a fan for years, cant" go back.
We booked last minute Thanksgiving reservations. They very easily accommodated us as busy as they were. The food & service was terrific! We will definitely go back.
Lovely Thanksgiving meal! Service could not have been kinder or more welcoming on the holiday - thank you, Zina and the rest of the staff. Lots of tasty leftovers.
The food was fabulous, the service was amazing which was a specially appreciate it on Thanksgiving day for lunch !👍
Family style portions so not a good choice for just a couple. Our server was poor, but seemed like others around us were OK. Nothing on menu to satisfy single/couple size group.
We have never been disappointed when dining there. Our favorite table is in the kitchen and seeing all the great dishes others have ordered. Also, having fun with servers and the kitchen people.
Great food, great service, casual vibe. Good for a fun night out or for a special occasion.
Excellent food. Try the Chicken Limone, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans for something other than traditional pasta meals. Can't wait to go back.
Very poor customer service. Took over 30 min for water and the restaurant was empty. Ended up leaving.
Third strike and you’re out! This is our third attempt in giving Buca a chance. In the past it’s been service but this time it’s the quality of the food. They’ve raised their prices and substantially reduced the quality of their food. We returned one of our favorite dishes due to an odd taste and finished the remaining dishes but the food was definitely subpar (with the exception of their pizza and salad). TIme to find a new family gathering restaurant.
After making a reservation online, we waited a while to be seated after arriving at the restaurant on a slow Wednesday night. (There was no one else waiting to be seated, just people waiting for others in their party). The host was tied up with a few phone calls and left the host stand multiple times while we were in front of him. The (I assume) manager walked by and greeted us, but did not seat us.
The server was helpful and attentive.
The pepperoni pizza came out greasy and the Fettuccine Supremo pasta wasn't very good. Neither were bad enough to complain about at the time, but not worth going back for.
We've been here before but might not go back.
Mark the waiter was awesome. He showed us how big the servings were before we ordered. Decent wine list. Great food for a big family
Food was good and plenty of it. Very noisy as place has large groups.
After driving by this restaurant for years, I finally took an opportunity to actually dine there. Although the food was passible, the ambience was terrific. It was a fun place to go and stroll around and look at all the pictures and decorations all in an authentic Italian theme. With all the separate rooms, I can see us having a great private family dinner there.
Thanks for the great service and food. Our reservation was for just before closing. Waiters were great in letting us take our time eating our meal.
