Waiter seemed inexperienced. Made many mistakes. Didn’t bring enough plates and we had to ask many times for more. Only took one persons drink order.
Forgot a few of our orders. Did not comp meal while we waited for food that never came.
Very poor, slow service. Food was ok but not a good value at all
The food was tasty but the waiter encouraged us to order more food than the eight of us could possibly eat...way too many leftovers (especially since we were out of town and couldn’t take any of it back to our hotel with us to eat later).
Definitely a place where you can talk and be loud and nobody cares. Perfect for big groups. Big plates perfect for sharing.
Great place to take the family or a large group. Serving sizes support a family table presentation. Menu selection is excellent. Make sure you are there for Italian. Quality of food excellent and does not vary in quality form Buca-to-Buca. The decor and layout is standard Gumba-style and also is a standard. So far we have been to Bucas in Honolulu, Salt Lake City and San Diego. If you subscribe, their coupons and offers are great. Can also accommodate large groups. Prices are reasonable. Service prompt, attentive and friendly.
The pasta was very overcooked. Service was nice, and the ambiance was great. Not good value for portion sizes. Was sat in lounge when I requested a booth in dining room.
This is such a great place for family gatherings and the food is always good. I’d give it five stars except the spaghetti needed a little more sauce.
We were able to get seated right away; ordered and got food. Large quantities of food, so we were able to take some home. All was good, especially the garlic and cheese bread. Staff were great!
They were very nice. It was a last miunte large party because we had family in town for my sons wedding. But when they were told I had twenty people they made me choose a group menu which I really did not want to do. What a waste of food! It was beyond what twenty people could eat and we were all staying in hotels so there was no way we could take it home. Several of my guest asked if the restaurant would box the remaining food and give it to a shelter? The waitress didn't know. The food is just okay. I would rather eat in Little Italy in San Diego but we had small children with us and no car seats.
The food was great, the service was great too. I would recommend this place, its great for group/large parties. The pricing was good too.
Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone. The lasagne was very good, but the server, oh my, let's just say he left much room for improvement. It was my husband's birthday celebration. The server seemed to be checked out the whole time. After finally taking our order, we received our salads and drinks. Thereafter, were not revisited for a very long time, after which he came and asked if we might be ready for dessert. My jaw dropped in amusement as we had not even had our entrees. I quipped, "Perhaps we might first enjoy our dinner?" He ran off and I think must have forgotten to put our order in. We DID, wonder of wonders receive our meal, but dessert was a long time in coming as we had to request of another server our dessert. Refills on drinks were not met until the very end after we were about to leave he brought "1" refill... if any of us had wanted another drink, we were long past our limit of patience as we had been there 2 1/2 hours already! Well, at least the lasagne was good.
The food was delicious but most of all, we got to interact with many staff members who made our experience so special. Everyone greeted us with a smile and a hello and took the time to ask if we were enjoying ourselves. Definitely coming back.
Okay food. Would compare to Olive Garden. Nothing to write home about but not the worst I’ve ever had. Waiter was very friendly.
Buca di Peppo is a great place to have a family style Italian meal. Ross, our server, was excellent and very attentive to our table's needs. Thank you for the fine food and service.
It’s a big place inside and feels very Italian. Food was ok but not much more than that and the place is quite noisy.
Christmas Dinner. The food was okay but the service was what would make us come back to this location.
Exelente precio y calidad
Muchas gracias! Esperamos volver a verlos muy pronto!
We had a large group and the staff did a great job managing all of us!
Samantha, we are happy to hear you received such great service from our team! We hope you will visit us again soon!
Reservations were at 6:30. Sat down at 6:45. No food still at 7:40. Spoke to the manager twice before got some food by 8 pm. Three little kids sitting there hungry. Not a fun time. Would never go back.
We are very sorry to hear about your experience. We look forward to learning more.
Great option for some good Italian food to share with friends. Had the stuffed shells and a pasta dish with Alfredo sauce. Both were very good and seasoned well.
Dana, we're so glad to hear you loved our food, as much as we love making it! We hope you'll come back soon!
Food was good, wait staff was nice and present, but they asked if we wanted a complementary photo and we said yes, but found out 20 minutes later we had to pay to keep it.
The overall service and food were excellent. We were warmly greeted when we arrived and the food was tasty and plentiful. That night a photographer from the restaurant was available and she took an excellent photograph of us. I would highly recommend this restaurant for large groups as the food is served “family” style and the portions are very generous.
Amazing customer service and the food was amazing. My entire group party was very pleased with the service & food
Horrible experience. Bad service. We had to ask the waiter for everything. Didnt introduce himself. Never offered drinks. At the end I accidentally forgot one of my birthday cards which had a gift card. And to my surprise 10-15 min later when I called. Nobody knew what happened to it. I got the run around from everyone including the manager.
The staff and service were great. The food was nice and fresh and was prepared quick. I highly recommend this place.
Everything was great. The restaurant even accommodated the overflow of people we didn’t expect would show up! The staff’s attitude was wonderful!!
On this occasion the food was exceptional. Ordered Quattro Il forno, our fave. This was the best ever. Piping hot til entire meal was done. All the pastas were stuffed so much, not skimpy. Juicy n lots of sauce! Downtown location food better than Mira mesa always but this time was as I said EXCEPTIONALLY delicious!!!! Service excellent too.
Way too loud as staff was changing out tables. Screaming babies. The usual pleasant night out 😂
Celebrated my daughter’s birthday with her friends. Everything went well. Left without my leftovers because waiter took too long but aside from that we had a great time
Our dining experience was excellent. The food was very good and the service was outstanding. I would definitely return to Buca di Beppo San Diego.
The food is always great but it was the service that moved it to 5 stars.
It was a terrible service experience. Our waiter forgot about my 3 year old’s food. The salad came out to the table 30 minutes after the entree was served. The meatballs were forgotten about entirely from our order. One member of our party spilled their water and at least five or six staff members walked by, saw us trying to clean up the mess, and no one offered to help or even give us napkins. I had to ask someone for napkins and they brought back two. While our waitress did take off the salad from our bill we were less than impressed with the attentiveness from the staff.
We loved everything we ate— the salad with apple and Gorgonzola cheese, the garlic bread, the stuffed mushrooms (I wanted to drink the sauce!), the sausage, the lasagna, and the chicken and veal Parmesan. There were 11 of us and we ate til we were stuffed. Even the picture guy did a great job— we bought lots of pictures! What a fun place!!
Food and service were very good. Good value for the money. Family style and you get plenty of food.
We had a fairly large party of about 10 of us on a Friday evening. We had some mix-ups and issues during our dinner. Drink served incorrectly. No bread brought out. When the bread was delivered, no butter or oil accompanied it. Pizza arrived for some of our party after the rest of us where done eating. Service in general was a bit unorganized. On the positive, the food was good overall. Drinks were good as well. They were able to accommodate our large party. The manager did come over and apologize for the issues and took ownership for them falling down on some things. He did comp us dessert and did not charge us for a few items delivered late. Given the balance of things, I think 3 stars if a fair review.
Great birthday celebration!!!
Huge portion sizes!! Be ready for leftovers. The lasagna was great
Everything went seamlessly with my party of 9 celebrating 4 birthdays in the month of June. Our two servers were on top of everything, with the constant clearing of the dishes to not a empty drink on the table. The service was quick but not rushed at all. We were in and out with big smiles on our faces. This place never fails.
