Buca di Beppo - Salt Lake City Ratings and Reviews
We came in on Valentines Day for a business dinner I was hosting for my team. It wasn't very busy but we were told that the kitchen was backed up and it best we don't request anything different from what was listed on the menu. Our drinks took a while, beer was flat, mushroom appetizer came with mains and wasn't cooked. Food took longer than it should have. Our server did the absolute best he could with what he had to work with and I felt for him, and his efforts. The idea here for me was to make a good impression as it was the only team dinner we had whilst in SLC. The cab driver sent us here. I would not recommend this place. It's dark and seems dingy and dusty, although the food is alright, I have had much better Italian cuisine for the same dollars. Skip this place, I owe my group a re-do unfortunately.
We arrived for our reservation on Valentine's Day at 7:00 and were seated quickly. There were several open tables in our area. After waiting a while to be greeted by our server, he informed us that food would be delayed because the kitchen was backed up. He brought our drinks and caprese salad, but didn't bring any plates or dressing. I finally caught his attention and asked for plates and bread. He happened to be carrying vinegar and oil so he left that with us. The salad was good. The bread was warm and tasty. The ambience was nice. However, our dinner didn't arrive until 8:30. We waited well over an hour for our food. The plate the food was on was hot to the touch, but the filling was cold. Not warm, cold. We asked for a to go container and left. There is no valet parking. We found a homeless man sleeping by our car. All in all, not a great experience.
Nightmare in hell. Please read reviews we dint and paid big for it. This place is absurdly diabolical. The people that work there laugh at u being upset. They encourage the sarcastic and rudeness with all the employees. If only the owner knew how horrible they treat people. He would fire everyone on the spot. Save yourself a nightmare in hell go somewhere else
Mediocre food. Service was poor. Said the bread was coming out the over but it was cold. The entrees were not hot. Brought out linguine not the spaghetti as requested. Had to push the point that we wanted spaghetti and not linguine. Said that they were out of spaghetti. Really. Cold bread. Not spaghetti. Was so hopefull. Not impressed. Not a good value.
Initially I was very frustrated because I had made a reservation for a large group and when we arrived they had us sitting a 3 separate tables. After voicing my irritation our server improvised and made a big long table for us which was greatly appreciated. He also provided great service through the meal for our large group.
The food is terrible.
But it was very easy to get into with a large group since the restaurant was basically empty...probably because the food isn't good. The sizes are perfect for sharing so you can try a variety of things which is nice. That way you know that everything is bad. Not just the one thing that you ordered.
The calamari breading was very heavy and the calamari definitely was not fresh. They were very rubbery. Almost like eating rubber bands.
The meatballs were terrible...tasted gamey and like they were made with spam or something...definitely not beef or sausage. Almost mushy and corn mealy.
The stuffed shells looked like they had been sitting under the lights all day waiting for someone to order them and were hard.
The other 2 pastas were mediocre at best.
I will never be back. I would definitely recommend one of the many other Italian places downtown.
The service was slow and absent. Our waitress was almost nonexistent, forgot multiple items, and left us soda-less. The manager noticed the bad service but didn't really so anything to fix it. The food was gross and we feel ripped off by the price we paid for everything.
We wrote a much more detailed review on Google (they don't have character limits). Check out the review posted 6/29/17 by Skyler Stark to see all the details.
On Sunday, in Salt Lake City, there are not a lot of dining options. I called to see if they could accommodate just two (2) diners for dinner. YES, the could .... but you have to know to ask for the "lunch menu". AND, if you order off the lunch menu when it is not lunch time, do check your bill to make sure you've been charged appropriately. That said, I highly recommend the eggplant parm. But that is just my opinion.
Many open tables visible in restaurant yet when we got there at 6:50 for a 7:00 reservation they told us they would wait until after 7 to seat us. At 7:05 I had to remind them to seat us. Seems like they do not have enough servers for the size as it took along time for our servers to come to our table. Food is consistent with big portions and big prices.
Made a reservation for 18 almost none of whom live in Salt Lake City. We were gathering for a professional conference. The staff were very accommodating and helpful. We ordered much, too much, food, but took a lot back to our hotels. Family style serving made it easy for all. We all knew what we would be getting before we arrived. Buca is a lovely, family-style restaurant. It worked very well for our event. The food was satisfying and tasted created. Buca is what it is.
I typically don't leave reviews, however I made an exception for this occasion. I made a reservation for 7:00 p.m. when my date and I arrived. When we arrived, we found out we couldn't be seated for another 30 minutes. After finally being seated, we waited for another 30 minutes without being served so much as a water. During this time, we watched as another couple who was seated when we were recieve drinks and get their orders taken. We called another server over who told us he'd find our server and never did. Eventually we left without receiving any sort of service at all. For such a nice establishment, I was appalled at the service we received. Please be careful when choosing this place and I would not suggest it for important dates like I had.
New Year's Eve dinner with 15. Restaurant didn't have enough help. Delayed seating while they waited for servers to arrive. Once we were seated, the food was slow in coming out. Food was flavorful and hit the spot. Large portions of great food. Lots of empty tables and they were turning big people away without reservations. Spotty start to a wonderful evening.
One of the few, but certainly the best place, open Christmas Day for dinner. Problem is they overbooked and were behind on the reservations, and rightfully so, perhaps too much of the staff wanted off for Christmas. (cant blame them) But it was all made up for by very good food. Good atmosphere and family really enjoyed it. Would definitely come back and we plan to visit the ones in the Chicago area upon our return.
We dined here for Thanksgiving dinner. It was very good and the price made it even better. The only thing I'd recommend is that they give you a little bigger portion of the cranberry sauce. They do not give nearly enough for the amount of turkey. Should be double what they give. Very good though.
The manager told us he didn't ha e the staff to accommodate our party at our reservation time. He went on to tell us he couldn't stand the web app reservations. He then asked us why we chose this restaurant when there other gourmet restaurants in the area. The soup came out ice cold and the wait staff told us there was no time to heat it as the timing of the rest of the meal round be off!! We never got bread either.
Good for large groups, had a party of 16. Food was good but somewhat pricy because it comes in family size servings - so had to have friends pair up to split meals which can make the bill tricky. Service was a bit slow but we had one waitress for the whole party and it was a Saturday night. Food was good and filling.
