Buca di Beppo - Pineville Ratings and Reviews
I did not think that the food was terrific. The chicken saltimbocca was dry. I was very surprised that for the money, it did not come with pasta and salad, the way an individual plate would. If I had ordered one plate to feed three people, it would not as there was 3 pieces of chicken. Overall I thought the prices were outrageous. I ordered 2 drinks that were 13.00 a piece which was ridiculous for a small drink. The veal parmesan was pretty good, but again for the price, it was not that much food. The muscles Bianca was great as well as the fried calamari.
Overall, I would not go back it is not worth the money and the food was not great. The atmosphere was nice though. Our server Mark was fantastic though.
Have I mentioned that I love Buca's lasagna? If you're new to Buca's dining concept, it takes a little getting used to. Everything (including salad!) is served "family style" meaning you can easily over-purchase. Plan to take leftovers home and it's pretty easy to get 2 dinners and 2 lunches out of an order of a small salad and a small entree (which will set you back $38).
We were a party of 2. This is NOT the place to eat if you are "only 2" and do NOT want leftovers. Our service was slow and there were lots of apologies to the neighboring table for serving all their appetizers and salad WITH their entree. We skipped the entry and just ordered a "small" salad and a "small" entry. Our pasta was a little over cooked. But the meal arrived in a reasonable amount of time. The drink order, drink service, and bread were slow. We did get dessert to go and their cheesecake is really great.
Buca has always been one of our favorite restaurants but this latest visit really disappointed us. The quality of the food was not as good and the prices were higher. We ordered several dishes, all of which did not meet the standards that have been set based on our previous visits. The Baked Rigatoni and Chicken Parm were dry and pretty flavorless. The Spaghetti and Meatballs were just okay - nothing to rave about. At their prices, I'm not sure if Buca will stay in our dining rotation list or not.
It was a horrible experience from beginning to end. Our waitress was awful, she didn't know what she was doing. We waited almost 2 hours for our food. After 1/2 hour we were told the pizza oven was broken and needed to order something else. But then we saw people who came in after us get pizza delivered to their table. Food came to the table cold and not very good. Coffee was cold. And then we were rushed out of there because the waitress told us she wanted to leave early to go to a baby shower. Really!!!!!
Went for a late lunch (2:45pm) so the restaurant was completely empty. As such, I expected to be seated in the best place and have good service since there were no other customers to tend to. Unfortunately, both expectations were not met. We were seated next to the bar, the least desirable place to be, and in that room there was poor ventilation such that the room was rather warm and stuffy. The server brought us a menu immediately but then completely disappeared for about 10 minutes. We were ready to order but waited and waited. At one point, I thought I might be on a hidden camera TV show because there was absolutely no sign of human life anywhere in the restaurant for the longest time. Finally, she came back to take our order and later brought us bread, which was not warm at all; it evidently had been sitting around for some time. During the meal, no one ever came by to see if we needed anything until it was time to pay. The food is ok, but next time I would advise take out because of the poor service.
Granted, it was a Saturday night at 6:45 PM but service and food quality was below average. Waitress was nice but had to ask for lemons four times, bread didn't come out until two minutes before our meal, we had no silverware and then was only brought forks. We got no refills until we saw our waitress and our meals were done. The food came out cold as the manager said sometimes the food sits for a while. They did reheat the food up but this took more time. We were charged for an extra drink that we didn't have and they finally took it off our bill but then charged us full price for a kids drink that should only be $1.99. When I questioned it, the waitress said, "well I gave her an adult size drink." It was at that point that I told her that if she hadn't of gave our kid an adult size drink, she would have gone without a drink for some time and it would save the waitress a trip from having to continually fill up a kids cup. She finally adjusted the price. I may give this restaurant one more chance and see if we get the same type of service again. Good luck!
The last 2 visits were VERY disappointing. This was going to be my last time!! I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. My only complaint was the beer selection. We ordered 2 different domestic beers and neither was available. Other than that, the meal was perfect and our waiter, luke, was on his game!!
First time having Buca's lasagna -- great dish! Buca is also very smart using e-mailed coupons (I'm assuming these are sent to Buca Club members) to generate return business. It works! Also, participation in both OpenTable and the AAdvantage Dining Program keep me coming back again and again!
Nice place. Our first time there. The menu selections were "different" and a bit confusing regarding portions and how much to order. It appears to cater to larger groups who have similar tastes. If you want two different entrees, you get way more food than most need and gets expensive. The service was excellent.
Quality comes at a bit of a price. We decided to try their pizza this time. The good news? It comes with a crisp, matzo-like crust and is LOADED with toppings. The not-so-good? It also comes with a pretty hefty price tag -- $20 for a small pizza and $30 for a large. Their cannoli is rich and tasty but, again, $10 for 3 seems a little on the high price for a dessert. It seems that if you join their Buca di Beppo "club" you will regularly receive e-mail offers for $15 off of $30 which helps soften the sting of Buca's somewhat premium prices.
Air conditioning was not working in the room we were seated in. As we ate it got uncomfortably warm. As we walked out there were several parts of the restaurant that were very cool and had open tables. No recognition from management or apologies about the heat. The temperature made this time dining less amazing than in the past.
Disappointed. Have frequented this restaurant many times in past and always have had a great experience. However, this visit left much to be desired. Appetizers came out in stages, mussels were not opened, calamari was tasteless. Dinner wasn't much better as entrees were bland and tasteless. Server tried her best to make it enjoyable. Seems in the last year the restaurant has changed. Too bad..it used to be a fun, casual family place.
Was very disappointed... booked this restaurant for my son's high school graduation party. Not sure if the restaurant's air conditioner was broke, but it was soooo HOT!!! We were all sweating, it was like we were outside!!! The food took forever!!! We got our salads & bread quickly, drinks too, but then we waited FOREVER for the pasta, some of our party had to leave as it was taking so long. When the food finally did arrive, it was good, but it was just too HOT in the restaurant, they had a bucket under the air conditioner vent where we were sitting that was full of water, it was right in the way where we were sitting & it was tripped over by our guests & almost spilled several times & we waited way too long for our main course! When you have a dinner party of 20 people & it's been booked for a month, the food should have been on time! Very disappointed!!!
I’ve been this place couple of times with no problem but this time we came here to celebrate my daughter’s 14th Birthday and it was a horrible experience. With dirty silverware, good appetizers but with no plates, waitress gave us cold bread and waited more than 1 hour for our food. Chicken Carbonara and Calamari was good but the Spaghetti with Meatballs and the Linguine Frutti di Mare tastes bland. Sorry but not sorry we’re not coming back!!
We dine at your restaurant every time we celebrate a special occasion. We were here to celebrate Mother's Day dinner. This particular visit we are very disappointed with the service. We asked our server refill and she brought us the wrong drink. We waited over an hour for our food to come out. We were ready to walk out. We don't know if the server forgot to put out order in. We asked for the manager and it took him 10 minutes to get to our table. When we asked where it was he said the Chicken Parmigiana was done but the Shrimp Florentine took awhile to cook. I think it is crap because I work in the industry and shrimp doesn't take long to cook. We were a party of four and the tables around us that at 6 and 8 got their food first and we've been sited way before them. It was very upsetting and disappointing experience. We will not be dining here for our Mother's Day celebration.
It was Mother's Day , but there were empty tables, so at a loss for an explanation as to why it took 45 minutes (on the dot) to get our SALAD. SALAD. And it had little to no dressing, so we had to send it back after that long wait - we were so hungry and hated to do it, believe me. (The server explained to us that NEXT time we needed to order extra dressing at the start because the kitchen's policy was to put only one small scoop of dressing per salad. I find it hard to believe, unless that scoop is tablespoon sized for a salad that is supposed to serve 3). The entrees were good. Our server ended up strong, but definitely was slow and unimpressive at the start. Also, if the Vesuvious dessert needs extra prep time....why would you not give someone dessert menus earlier in the dining experience, in case they wanted to order it? Our third, and likely last visit to this location. They simply continue to perform poorly and we have far too many restaurant choices to continue to waste big $$$ here.
