Buca di Beppo - Maitland Ratings and Reviews
Our food was good, we had the shrimp pasta was prepared well, but there could have been more spinach in the dish. We also had baked ziti. Both dishes were plentiful and we lots to take home.
Our only complaint: when we ordered we asked the waitress for two checks and put one pasta dish on each check. When the bill came there was only ONE and separate one for the two glasses of wine that was ordered. It was difficult to split up as we had 2 children's dishes and a 2 salads and the pasta dishes, all separate pricing. When you tell the server before the orders begin they need to learn to listen and bring the bill to the diners correctly.
We took some friends with us for their first time to a Buca di Beppo restaurant. They were as entranced by the delightfully tacky decor as we always are. We considered a bottle of wine but found the wine was extremely high priced for barely mediocre wines, so we passed and stuck with iced tea. To start we shared a large calamari appetizer. It came out hot and crispy. The light batter lightly flavored with spices and accompanied with one of the best marinara sauces I have ever had in a restaurant. Next we shared a small mixed green salad. Fresh greens tossed in a light vinaigrette dressing. Lastly with chose to share a small order of Veal Saltimbocca. The portion of three veal cutlets topped with sage and prosciutto was just enough for this group of four to share. A hardy meal for a great price.
The waiter forgotten what we ordered, twice while standing before us, then actually placed the wrong.
Our food was delivered warm.
My wife's veal marsala was extremely sweet, like honey. The chicken and sausage rigatoni was bland.
The manager comp'd our meal for the Marsala... $21 for two glasses of $6 wine (Canyon Road)... he still made money.
My wife and I decided to go out to eat and so I looked up a place we have never gone before and decided on Buca's. First when you walk in there is a lot of cool and funny things on the wall and it makes your wait go by fast. We were sat in a timely manner and that was awesome. Now this being our first time we quickly realized that this isn't your run of the mill Italian restaurant. They only sell two portion sizes small and large and small is more than enough for 2 people. Server came by and to be honest made my wife and I feel like we were a burden for her wasn't very interested in us which is fine since my wife and I aren't into small talk but the least she could have done is at least pretend. Asked for a wine recommendations for my wife and the girl just said the one wine even after my wife said she didn't like white wines. Anyways, we ordered our food which was chicken Parm and a side of pasta marinara and let me tell you that chicken Parm was one of the best I've ever had. Good chicken Parm is moist on the inside and crispy on the outside and this was perfect. My wife and I were disappointed we didn't order a large because we wanted to take home more leftovers. The pasta marinara was good but could have been better if there hadn't been so much water from when they cooked it. It watered down a really good sauce. Overall great food and great atmosphere, below service but would still recommend for the food.
Made reservations for Christmas at 4:30 arrived at 4:15. By 5:30 still waiting outside and was told there was still 10 parties that had reservations for 4:00 that still had not been seated. Absolutely inexcusable to mess up someone's Christmas reservations. Called Kobe made reservation at the last minute for 6:00, and was at a table by 6:30.
We were there Christmas Eve. There seemed to be an issue with the kitchen staff. Our entrees came out staggerd rather than together. Our waiter was overwhelmed. I'm going to chalk this up to Christmas Eve dining, but we are early 6:30p and there were plenty of tables open when we arrived
A male server was yelling at a female server for not setting up the right tables for a large group. Seemed unprofessional and unnecessary, especially in front of diners like us who could clearly overhear. I felt bad for her because she was only following the directions of another employee. Service and food were fine, but hearing that put a negative spin on our experience. Please make sure your staff treats each other respectfully!
This visit was not up to par...The food was not hot, the waiter/bartender ordered the wrong entree for me, and brought me the wrong wine. Waiter/bartender had too many tables to take care of, so I felt like we did not get the attention that we should have gotten. Would have preferred to have been seated in an area other than near the bar...
Ziti, pretty good, but heavy, alfredo with chicken, very heavy sauce.
Mac and cheese for kids , no good , kids did not like it, Cesar expensive and not special.
Sangria watery, bellinis poorly presented, looks bigger on menu, taste good, but forca $10 drink , you expect more and better presentation. Would not go again, atmosphere nice, however Olive Garden better quality and way cheaper.
We had a reservation & were seated promptly, after first being given a tour of the restaurant by the very friendly hostess. The service was very fast and the food was good. We had spaghetti & meatballs & a stuffed chicken dish - everything was tasty & there was plenty of it. The salad was good & we were served plenty of bread, which was also very good. We had an outstanding waiter named John - he was very friendly & we had an interesting chat with him - he was very attentive throughout the meal. We had coffee afterwards - too full for dessert - & did not feel rushed to leave. If there is one negative, it was that our bill was higher than anticipated because the soft drinks & coffee are priced pretty high. One person had wine & one had sangria; the other 2 had coke & lemonade & we all had coffee afterwards. These charges are considerably higher than at other restaurants. All good, though - next time I'll just order ice water (wink wink). Very nice experience & real Italian atmosphere!
Third time visiting this Buca. LOVE everything about it. The food and service was TOP NOTCH. Our Server Gregg was AMAZING. He checked in on us quite a few times but was not intrusive. Received a few visits from the Manger, Myles. He was so friendly. Made certain our experience was the BEST. Can't wait to go back!
We brought my sister to Bucca for her birthday. She doesn't get to go out much and she's not really a foodie, but we thought this would be fun for her.
We had a blast!
The assistant manager gave her a tour of the kitchen and really got her involved. Our server was Zach and he was just a hoot. He MADE the entire evening. He was very entertaining, very informative and very helpful.
It was a great evening that we were still talking about a few days later.
The experience was horrible the cup of my sister was have lipstick mark the plate was wet i asked for amarretto to the serve Andrea I am still wait for my amaretto even I ask her twice for a.
The veal paramesan i was order taste like seafood i think they was fried the veal on same oil of the seafood.
Sorry but my wife birthday was turn in at nigthmare i dont want come back to maitland bucca di peppo.
We were a group of 20 with 4 separate checks, and kids were sitting separate from parents. The waitress was so organized. Not one problem with the checks. And she did it with a smile. Drinks were always full. Anything we asked for was brought to us promptly.
Slow, inattentive service ruins the meal. Our service was lacking. Drinks came after our salads and server nearly dropped the bread basket in my lap and just kept walking. One of our entrees was wrong and took forever to get corrected. It was a really bad experience. We love Buca, but we will not come back to this location.
My family used to love going here and we keep giving this restaurant another chance, but I think we've finally given up. The food is good, but the service has been substandard our last few visits. Our most recent visit was pretty terrible. To start, we made a reservation for 8 people, but got seated at a table for 6 (it even had 6 place settings when we arrived). We asked for a bigger table, but the very unhelpful and unfriendly hostess said they had no other tables to accommodate us. It turned out the room we were in which contained a couple of larger tables was mostly empty during our visit. The food took a while and did not come out all at once. When we paid, we asked to split the check between two families. The server ended up charging my credit card for both orders. Luckily I noticed this and they voided one of the charges. Overall, not a very good experience.
Our server Marc was amazing. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. We felt like part of the family. Great atmosphere, the kids enjoyed all of the photos and memorabilia on the walls. Food was excellent! Family style entrees are perfect for a couple or family, the portions are ample (think leftovers). My only regret is not finding this place sooner!
Small pasta dishes can easily feed 4, as can a small salad. Food was delicious and all 4 of us took home 3 nights worth of leftovers to enjoy again! Will skip the garlic bread next time - wasn't as good as I had expected and I had forgotten that they serve bread at the table anyway. It was our server's first day and you would never had known it if he hadn't said so - he was very well-trained, and so friendly and attentive. Staff helped make my daughter's birthday special!
We like to eat and laugh with friends. This is definitely a place to do that. The food portions are generous even 4 people can eat from the small spaghetti and meatball platter. We love our servers Scott and a waitress together they kept us well taken care of. We by no means were rowdy but very happy and laughed alot.
Our reservation was honored on time and we were seated promptly at our table. We waited 10 + minutes before being greeted by anyone at our table. The waitress hurriedly arrived, took our drink order and we waited for 10 more minutes before our drinks came! Once we ordered it took 28 minutes (timed on iphone) for our salad and entrees to arrive (all at once)!! Ideally, we would have enjoyed our salads before the entree came. Oh well, food was good but overpriced based on our experience and LONG wait time. We'll try all other area Italian restaurants before Considering" Buca next time.
The waiter seemed like he was distracted. He forgot our order and had to come back twice to ask us what we ordered. He forgot what credit card we gave him and didn't bring it back. Then got upset when asked why he didn't use our 20 %coupon as said he figured the $10 one was better. On a $90 bill??? Never brought the bread and then totally disregarded my daughters birthday. Said restaurants don't do anything like that anymore and after all it wasn't Disney World! My husband thought he may have indulged a bit too much or something as he was so bizarre acting. Food was ok but on both pastas and salad there was a rare piece of meat or mushroom to be found. Won't go back there anytime soon. Other locations have been much better
Made resv last week, arrived at restaurant at 6:30, resv for 6: 45 was told table would be ready at that time ,which was ok, waited till 7 to be seated staff up front was not together with people and their resv. we noticed that tables we're held for some, and others like us were not, a disappointment, service staff was great, also belong to your buca club, and did not receive yearly birthday promo ? we live almost 250 miles away and when we visit our son we always visit this restaurant... RCI
After two wonderful visits to this location, the third, for a birthday celebration, did not meet expectations. Our party of four was seated in the bar even though we had advance reservations. We asked to be moved to another table as the bench seating on both sides was horribly sunken. We were promptly moved and gave our drink orders which came within a decent timeframe. The wait for entrees was another story and, while our server did update us twice on the delay, we were not offered drink refills or complimentary bread while waiting. No one in the bar area received entrees so something was terribly wrong in the kitchen. Our entrees finally came after nearly one hour of waiting. Our dinner plates were ice cold. No mention of the occasion of the visit was mentioned even though it was duly noted on the reservation as well as to the host that seated us and to the server. I don't know what has happened at this location but we will not be returning.
I went with friends who had never been there. Food was as good as ever but the service was not so good. It took a long time to get the wine that we ordered. Shortly after that, the salad arrived which was good. Unfortunately, just a moment after the salad arrived, the entrees arrived too which was too soon.
