Buca di Beppo - Lombard Ratings and Reviews
My daughter found a hair in her soup. The server was told & removed it but did not take this item off the check. The rest of the food was sub-par. Very oily bruschetta which we did not touch. It was very loud as we were seated in bar area. Will not be returning - the food & drinks are extremely overpriced for what you receive. Very disappointed.
We went for Thanksgiving. First time ever not cooking, While they offered a feast, which we saw others order and looked very good, we ordered off the menu.
Everything was outstanding. Best Bruschetta ever! Servers were great. There was a very festive atmosphere in our room. We really enjoyed our experience.
We chose this restaurant for my wife's birthday party. 6 adults and a 9 month old. The place was okay. It's run down and for a "family style" place I wondered why there weren't larger tables. They shoved us into a booth with a table added on. It was a Monday night, the place was dead, and they were clearly short-staffed so service was s-l-o-w. The bartender, Handel, was courteous and friendly and did his best to keep us happy up but admitted he had other tasks to do (like making drinks for the rest of the customers). After waiting 20 minutes I finally got my own pitcher of ice water and took bread plates off some of the other empty tables so we could have more than two. The olive oil was bland and the cheese tasted like it came from a Kraft can. The food arrived in reasonable time thanks to Handel. The bruschetta was surprisingly good. We ordered 4 large entrees, which is a lot for this place, knowing we'd take some home. I liked the spaghetti & meatballs, but the shrimp/pasta dish was watery. I'd say the food was average Italian if not less than. And the prices aren't cheap. I didn't really expect more at a chain like this. For my money, you're better off at a small local Italian place where you'll get the same if not better food and the attention you deserve. Leave this chain to the corporate accounts.
Server was very knowledgeable and friendly! Food was good. Although I was with my daughter and even though we eat an adult portion we didn’t like having to choose one and wished there would’ve been smaller portion so we could’ve tried different items.
We received two plates that were dirty and had to get new ones. I really been turned off at restaurants if you get dirty silverware or plates so that is why the rating is not higher.
Had a great time here for my daughter's BD celebration. We loved our waiter, "Tim". He was kind, informed and service oriented. He made us feel special! As we were brought into the dining area, they take you on a stroll through the kitchen. How special is that....
Love the family orientation to food with the large platters for sharing. Their house wine is pretty good as well.
Buca was a very nice place to have dinner. When arrived was asked if I wanted to sit in the kitchen. At first I thought it was a joke, but it wasnt and it was a very cool experience. Cooks were extremely sweet. With our waitresses (Jamie) my party and I felt rush. We tried to make things as easy as possible. We made reservations for 6pm seated by 603pm and walked out by 7pm. Thats probably the most disappointed thing.... being rushed.
Food is always good as well as the service. However the night we were there, the service was very poor, very disappointing. This is one of our favorite places and it is not nearby but worth the drive for the food. We have always had great service at every Buca but not this night.
Food was good, service was ok--the waiter was very friendly, but a little slow to fill our drinks. What made us upset was the fact that the waiter would not accept our coupon at first. Even the manager had to come to our table to tell us our coupon that we found online was invalid. After pleading with him for several minutes, he finally found a way to apply 20 % off to our bill. We may think twice about returning with a large group.
This was our first "not so great" experience there. I felt rushed when I got there (had reservations). There were tons of kids there for homecoming so they may have just been over extended. My son has food allergies and this is one of our usual "safe places", but when I stated to please mark it for the chef I felt like the request was blown off so I then nicely asked again. Service became better but still felt disheartened at the experience. That coupled with the noise level (we had to yell across the table), was not work the $$$. ☹️
Upon arriving we did have a slight wait to be seated. We were first asked if we wanted the table that was located in the kitchen. We declined and requested the dining room. The server was knowledgeable of the menu as we asked questions, even though it was not our first time dining. We asked for the calamari for an appetizer and shared a pasta. The service was good and the taste was good as well. Great place for family even the kids for familiar food.
We were seated right away and placed our order because we were headed downtown for a concert. Our food came out as it should and was delicious. When we wanted to pay the bill it took much longer than we anticipated despite telling our server that we were in a hurry to get someplace. I would not go here in a time crunch again.
We had a group get together to say goodbye to one of our couples permanently. I requested the Pope's room which is perfect for us and it was no problem. This had been one of our favorite rooms in the past because of the lazy susan. It makes it fun when each couple orders an appetizer to share, along with our dinner entrees. Some of the group had gotten there early, and they seated them right away. Everything we ordered was great, timing perfect, and waitress was excellent and very accommodating. Great time was had by all!
Was a great date night, we had a gift card given to us as a gift for Christmas. I do wish the prices were a bit more affordable so we could go back more often, perhaps have a drink or food special? We plan to visit again, perhaps for a special occasion such as a birthday.
We enjoy Chicken Lol one with capers and keep coming for it to Buca. Over the years, we've notice that the place is starting to look a bit tired!.
The bread that they bring out is nothing special and leaves a lot to desire for.
Our other favorite dish in baked ziti with Rosa sauce.
I think in this day and age, with new modern restaurants and their lively decor and ambience plays a big role in overall statisfaction of one's dining experience, where Buca is starting to look a little outdated in terms of ambience, but the nice thing is that their food is still as delicious as we've enjoyed over the years!
As a gluten free diner, I can't believe a big chain such as Buca Di Beppo has not moved to the 21st Century. This has got to be the only Italian restaurant without GlutenFree pasta! The chicken was pitiful and tasteless. Our server had no clue about gluten, obviously not trained appropriately which from what I've read this is standard in your restaurants. Until you offer more choices, we will not be back
We hadn't been to Buca in a long time and a friend mentioned she was going over the weekend. When my husband, best friend and I were trying to decide on a place I suggested Buca. We were all pleasantly surprised. The last time I was here it was a little bit of garlic overload (and I love garlic). This time it was perfect. My husband loved his spicy dish. He didn't even have to add extra heat. We were all very happy with our food especially since we had plenty of leftovers! Our server was pleasant and helpful. I'm normally not big on chain Italian restaurants (I despise Maggianos). Buca doesn't pretend to be something it's not. It's good, solid Italian-American food.
Large servings, of yummy food, that is meant to be shared. Great antipasto and apple gorgonzola salads. Wonderful baked rotini and calamari, rav's were just OK. Chocolate cake for dessert , to die for. A good place for a medium to large group dinner. Some of the restaurant is showing wear - the carpeting and chairs with holes in them. Service was good, but could have been more attentive, had to flag our server down numerous times for water and additional beverages.
The food and service were good but my boyfriend and I were seated in a small room with a very large party in it and we couldn't hear each other talk without basically screaming across the table. I would not go here again for a date. We were both extremely disappointed.
