Buca di Beppo - Livonia Ratings and Reviews
Great place for larger groups who get along and can share. Food is served family style, so ordering several different things makes for a lot of variety for everyone. We ordered two large entries and one small entree for eight people plus a large apple gorgonzola salad and soft drinks. I think it came out to around $20 per person before tip.
Waitress was super nice but this was the third visit in a row where the kitchen took a very long time and forgot to prepare things we ordered. They are very good about not charging you and giving free food when that occurs but i would rather they improve service so the experience is better.
Food was consistent with a chain -- not bad but not great either. Their claim to fame is family style dining. Considering how poor the service was (we got out appetizer after we had already started our meal among other things), I don't think the novelty or the food itself is worth it.
The host could not find my name initially and took me to two other peoples tables for me to tell him no not me. The third try he got it right.
The food for the price was disappointing. The pasta had barely any tomato sauce on it and barely any cheese. It was cold and hard. I did not send it back because I was so frustrated as it was Christmas Day and I’m not crazy about sending food back.
The lady waiting tables and the bar was great and attentive. She is the only reason I gave a fair rating or it would have been overall poor.
Sorry, but this had to be the worst (and most overpriced) Italian food I've ever had. It's sad when the best part of your meal is a $30.00 Antipasto Salad. Fetticini Alfredo that was so dry we had to ask for extra alfredo sauce just to choke it down. Veal Parm. so rubbery that a knife barely cut thru it.
This will definitely be the last time I go to this restaurant.
If the added $$$$ is supposed to be for their unique atmosphere....save your money.
Everything ended up turning out fairly well. Had a bumpy start; would have been able to tell server, Ariel, was new even without her saying so. Very sweet and no qualms against her, but she could have used some more help or assistance from coworkers since she seemed lost half of the meal. We either waited a long time (40 minutes to order entrees after we sat, 20 or so to get proper sangria service) and we had to repeat ourselves a few times. By the end, however, everyone has full and happy and she was able to finish the meal on a strong note. So despite the service hiccup, it was an enjoyable meal.
This place is just ok. It seems like there is always a long wait and the food takes a while, even though they are not completely full. A couple of our dishes had way to much red pepper on them. They have typical Italian dishes like lasagna and such, but this place is closer to TGIFridays than fine Italian dining.
We had a group of 10 celebrating a birthday. We ordered a large cheese & pepperoni pizza, large antipasto, large salmon, large spaghetti & meatballs, small veal parmigiana, and large chicken lemonatto. We ordered a bit too much and everyone left with a carry out container. The food was prepared just right and the service was really good for that size group. I would recommend Buca and we'll definitely be back.
The service was very impersonal and indifferent, the restaurant was out of olive oil ( how can an Italian restaurant be out of olive oil?) , and out of lasagna ( again, an Italian restaurant out of lasagna?). The overall food prep and taste was not even close to other Buca restaurants that I've been to.
i've been going to this franchise for years. It will be the last time I go. The food has gone down hill, the prices have increased and the taste/quality leaves this franchise nothing special any longer. Our waiter wasn't very good. Couldn't get any butter for my bread. None to be found.
I had not been to Buca in years, but I had the occasion to host some family that was visiting from another country. They are a very close-knit group and I remembered Buca offered family style eating and I thought that would fit perfectly. I wish I had chosen differently.
1. We were walked through the kitchen, which I am guessing at some point was a point of pride and part of the "show" but now was just a walk through a dirty kitchen as if we were the help. LOL, There was a huge spill of water on the floor that looked as if someone knocked over a bucket and just decided to leave it there. There was some type of solid waste in the water but I pretended not to see it pressed on. . . I should mention I know this wasn't a quick spill and clean up as I was there at least 20 minutes before the rest of my guests and the spill was there the entire time.
2. Our waitress was a sweetheart! She was very kind and accommodating and honestly, her professionalism saved the night.
3. Our pasta was cold, to the point multiple people noticed and said something. As if it had been left out and forgotten on a counter somewhere for a few hours.
4. Our pizza was burnt on the bottom, we had to send it back as it was inedible.
5. The antipasto salad did get rave reviews.
6. I was able to feed 10 ppl with 2 bottles of wine and after dinner drink for about $400
All in all it was almost a disaster, and it was definitely not worth repeating.
Not the best place to go if you're watching your waistline or trying to avoid carbs. Large portions and the way the food is prepared do not contribute to a lot of healthy choices. That said, this is a good way to share hearty Italian food with a tableful of friends and family.
Garlic cheese bread had a strange taste (son thought it smelled and tasted like chlorine). Portions are large but some items have very little flavor. Feel it is way overpriced and that there should be an option for individual portions (not just family style where you can only afford 1 or 2 items at most). Also, I had the rasberry vodka lemonaide which was pictured and described as having fresh rasberries...there were none and in fact it tasted like kool-aide. Not a fan.
