My friend and I try to get to Buca once every couple of months to catch-up on life. We can ALWAYS find something we like here and have a great evening of dinner, drinks and conversation.
This was the first time we had a hard time finding a good pasta dish to split. We ended up "making our own" and it worked but was probably a bit more "blah" that what a chef might have created.
Service is ALWAYS wonderful...our server made sure we had everything we needed and was helpful in answering our questions about the drinks and creating our own.
We went for a quick dinner. I was totally surprised that they had roasted Brussels sprouts with pastrami. What an inventive side dish creation. We ended up ordering way more than two of us could eat, so we took the leftovers home.
Even a Weight Watcher like me can eat a fairly healthy meal - takes a little work and a willing server! You can ask to be served half of the gigantic portion and have the other half wrapped to take home (freeze or share). You don't have to get a full order of cheese on your eggplant parm and can get your salad dressing on the side. The food was good but the service was great - our server was more than willing to accommodate our many requests to personalize our orders.
Not much to tell. The property was not able to meet our expectations
I feel that the mozzarella caprese I ordered was way overpriced at what I believe was $15.99. I was served 5 of the thinnest tomato slices with mozzarella that was supposed to feed 2-3. It was very disappointing. The portion served was not even a whole tomato! Service was fair at best as we even had to request bread. The shrimp fra diavolo was very good.
We had a great meal & fabulous service. What more could anyone ask for ?
Food was served cold
Mother’s Day late lunch. I understand that it was busy but the service was terrible and it took us 2.5 hours from when we were sat to finish. The service quality was terrible. I’m giving the benefit of the doubt of being busy for Mother’s Day but no real effort was made to alleviate things.
It was a Mother’s Day combined with my father’s 70th birthday. We opted to come in at 2pm for a late lunch, thinking it wouldn’t be too crowded. We were wrong.
The front desk staff seemed disorganized. It was a busy day, I can understand that. But then they sat 8 of us (mostly large folks) in a booth with a small table added to the end. Not very convenient since we had 2 high chairs. We tried to ask the waitress to move us and she just shrugged and said “this is all we have” while the bigger table in the middle was open. We made do.
The waitress seemed aloof and uninterested in being attentive. It was a good 10 minutes before she came by the first time, then another 10 before drinks came. Then we ordered food, except...they were out of lasagna. At 2pm. My mother’s only desire was lasagna. What a big failure of planning on their part. We decided on some other alternatives for Mom and the family.
We had a cake sitting on the table that we were told we could bring in. Only when we asked that our waitress move the cake someplace to make room for the family style food did she say “you know there’s a $15 cake fee for bringing your own.” Well that could’ve been easily conveyed over the phone when I asked about it in the first place. Sad. We opted to stuff the cake back in the car and just eat the dinner.
The room was noisy, cramped, and hot. The food turned out to be delicious, which is about the only redeeming aspect of our visit.
Never once did a manager come by to ask how our visit was. The waitress seemed terse with her replies to our questions. After the meal, the waitress brought us huge storage tins saying “it’s all we have left.” We rushed out as soon as we could.
It was a pretty awful experience, with the lone bright spot being the food. Sad, what a way to waste not just a Mother’s Day but my father’s 70th birthday. We certainly will never be back.
We were forced to move our seat twice. Made us get up and move. With 2 young kids this is very hard. Then food came 1 hr later and it was bad. Pizza was the worst I have eaten in my life. The only good thing was the ravioli that my daughter ate. I still will give them another chance since they provide a 50 dollar gift card to come back.
Server was great! Pizza was a bit over cooked
But everything else was good!
It has been awhile since we have dined here because it was very noisy last time we visited. This time we were seated in the bar area and the noise level was reasonable. However, the quality of the food was poor and the quantity received was small for the cost. The meat sauce on our ravioli was nothing more than canned diced tomatoes with some hamburger and no noticeable Italian seasoning. Very disappointing considering the cost and the fact that vegetables were not included. We will not return!!!
Dinner was served too quickly, salad course was no where near completed when our entree was served.
We went last Saturday to celebrate my husband’s birthday. His brother and sister and their spouses were also with us. Naturally we had to catch up with all the gossip and the waitress did not rush us all. We didn’t order our entree until after the appetizer and salad. We were still not rushed. The fried mozzarella was excellent, salad delicious. My favorite, the chicken Marsala, didn’t disappoint, wish I knew how to make their sauce! We also had ravioli and shrimp Parmesan, both were delicious. The birthday song was great along with the lit candles on the candelabra. No one can make tiramisu like Buca di Beppo. One order was enough for the six of us. Buca di Beppo is our favorite restaurant for family get togethers and celebrations.
Food was very good, service great. They had run out of the Italian lemon cake that we were especially looking forward to.
Great place for family gatherings
Our 1:15 reservation got us seated at 1:50 - they seemed to have some trouble with incoming traffic and seating. Our server was very nice and the food was good and plentiful.
Service was absolutely horrible. Finally got all of our drinks one hour and 10 minutes after sitting down! Salad took 50 minutes to be brought out. All but two people finally got their entrees but rest of table finished before they got their order. Managers didn't even seem concerned although we had to get up to find our waiter three times!
I expected my experience to be better - the area where we were seated was a little cold. The pasta was not the right temperature.
Love going to Buca’s, great atmosphere, great food!
Like all Bucca restaurants. Clean and good food service
Gave this place another try. Again my salad plates were hot and the food came on very hot plates, but food was luke warm. Cheese on top of lasagna not melted. I hate giving bad reviews but i cant come up with a good food review. Well The chopped antipasto was good.
The kids used to love going here so we went back for nostalgia. It’s so dirty and disgusting that I am surprised it has not been closed down. The food was low quality and very poorly prepared. There was at least a cup of water at the bottom of the spaghetti!
I could give tens of examples of things that were just wrong but if you go there you will see them for yourself and like me you will never go back!
Gosh, I was here last month and everything was terrific. This visit, not so much. Our waiter was marginal at best. Very slow and mumbled when he spoke. Took forever to have our order placed. Salad was good, but pizza was overcooked. The waiter served our pizza and said, "wow, it's overcooked, do you want another one"? We chose to eat it because we couldn't wait another 45 minutes for a new one. Then, my husband asked for a refill on his iced tea. The waiter brought him just that...a glass of warm iced tea...NO ICE. When he set it on the table he said, "wow, there's no ice in the glass". Really???
Would not revisit. Restaurant was filthy upon arrival. Waited over an hour for our food and chicken was like rubber. Couldn’t cut into some pieces of the chicken. Marinara pasta was a bowl of water. All very disappointing.
Great night at Buca. We had to make reservations for 10 at the last minute, and Buca took care of us without any issues. There happened to be another large party, so our food took a while to come out but our server was continually checking on us and apologetic. We will definitely be back!
I must start with the positive. Both food quality and service were excellent. Hostess staff was friendly. The place was actually very run down. Other than the entertaining pictures all over the walls, it was really a disappointing experience. The walls needed paint, the carpet was in bad shape and the ladies bathroom was just gross. I’m torn on going back again. Maybe a carry out option only.
Service was slow. The pizza was burnt around the edge too much. The bathroom reeked of some awful sewer smell or something and there were no paper towels. I like Buca, but this was a very disappointing meal experience.
Excellent service Arial was great !
Always enjoy the food and every table is little different, so new spot gives a fun adventure to decor.
It is a very good foot for large groups and good menu options sharing family style meals.
The last few times we've been to Buca's, the service and food were lacking. Last night, we actually had the BEST service ever and the food was terrific. Our waiter, Zachary, was outstanding. The food was served timely, hot and the way it's pictured on the menu. BRAVO!
Great place for large parties and special occasions.
The food was okay and service very good
Great for our big group! Very accommodating. Would recommend
Great experience, awesome service
Great place for larger groups who get along and can share. Food is served family style, so ordering several different things makes for a lot of variety for everyone. We ordered two large entries and one small entree for eight people plus a large apple gorgonzola salad and soft drinks. I think it came out to around $20 per person before tip.
Waitress was super nice but this was the third visit in a row where the kitchen took a very long time and forgot to prepare things we ordered. They are very good about not charging you and giving free food when that occurs but i would rather they improve service so the experience is better.
Food was consistent with a chain -- not bad but not great either. Their claim to fame is family style dining. Considering how poor the service was (we got out appetizer after we had already started our meal among other things), I don't think the novelty or the food itself is worth it.
