Buca di Beppo - Huntington Beach Ratings and Reviews
Eventhought we had an open table reservation we still had to wait about 20 min and the reseption person was not friendly. Service was ok because they didn't have enough wait staff so our waiter was from the bar and didn't get a part of our order correct so we had to wait for some of our meal to come back from the kitchen. Our bill was also incorrect because they charged us for two meals because of their mistake so we had to wait until they corrected the bill. No management staff ever came over to apoligez or offer us anything for the mistakes.
My quarterly trip to Huntington Beach, there is always a reservation at Buca de Beppo for the antipasto salad and florentine cheese bread! This time there was a spicier salami in the salad which gave it a great 'bite'...the florentine cheese bread is out of this world!
Service was good, always request seats in the bar!
We arrived about 30 minutes early on a Saturday night with reservations. We went into the bar because it was crowded in the waiting area. There were a lot of people complaining about the wait. We were seated upstairs at our reservation time. We noticed there was only one other table occupied the entire dinner. The staff seemed disorganized. The dinner was good. We ordered a salad and chicken. The dinner was good however I could make it at home. Nothing special.
We were a group of 15 and had a great dinner here. Four families were celebrating our kids leaving for college. The atmosphere was really fun. We ordered a big variety of things and because it was family style, there was something for everyone. I highly recommend this restaurant for special celebrations. It is an especially great place for large groups.
The food was just OK and the service was below expectations. We had to ask for a manager since we didn't get the help necessary to sufficiently place our order. The manager was very nice and pretty much took over. We were looking forward to having tiramisu for dessert and were told that the chef was just starting to make it, and that it would take 2 hours to finish. We settled for cheesecake which wasn't even a close second to tiramisu.
We like the restaurant chain Buca di Peppo but this location is hit and miss. Service can good or really bad. The appetizers were good but the calamari was barely cooked, the breading was lukewarm so I suspect the cook was rushing it out. The entrees were on the DRY side if you can believe it. How can Italian food be lacking on the sauce?! My pasta shells were dry and hard on the top half because of lack of marinara sauce.
Great meal celebrating my Father-In-Law's 70th birthday. Disappointed that he did not get his complimentary dessert because we booked the reservation through Open Table. The server explained to us that patrons that book through Open Table are excluded from the complimentary dessert.
I've lived in the area for years but this was my first visit to this location. Probably won't go back. The restaurant was SUPER hot inside, and the food wasn't that good. I've had Buca several times before and always enjoyed it. Not this time. The food was bland and seemed as though it all came pre-made or canned. Plus, parking at this location was difficult. Although the service was fast and friendly, it wasn't enough to make up for the food quality.
Made a reservation and showed up on time. Was super crowded and the hostess look a little overwhelmed. They sat us as quickly as they could get us a table. 15 min wait, which isn't so bad except for the fact that we did have a reservation in advance. Food was good but not great. Waiter was funny and helpful.
Made a reservation for 8 guests for my mom's 87th birthday. The food and service was exactly what you would expect. The issue is the gentleman running the front of the house, he got into a verbal argument in front of everyone waiting for a table with another guest and later with myself. Clearly he was having a bad day but you can't lose your cool in front of your customers, the ladies seating people did a nice job trying to make everything better, but this guy shouldn't be running the front of the house.
Went for Christmas dinner. Service was pretty good seeing as it was super busy, however we didn't order and item that was delivered to our table and we were then charged for it. But, the waiter did immediately take it off the bill. A little too expensive for my liking, but great if you all want the same meal. The baked ziti was not so good. However their pizza is phenomenal as well as the mozzarella bites. Pretty sure some of the wait staff were drunk, but they made the experience 10x better.
