We had a birthday celebration - party of twelve. The staff was awesome!
Great service! Great food! He had to be one of the best waiters there.
Anniversary was Do Over was everything. Thank You, Izzy and the Manager.
We were disappointed on so many levels. Our waiter seemed to not understand what we were saying half the time and always looked confused. Then from the time we got our appetizer salad, it was another 35 minutes until we got our meals. Our prosciutto-stuffed chicken was good but it was breaded and I am on a low carb diet so had to scrape off the breading (the menu did not say that it was breaded). Finally we ordered gelato for dessert. The menu said 2 scoops of vanilla, 2 of pistachio, and 2 of raspberry, all with upside down cones on top. When they brought out the dish it had no raspberry (they were out) and no cones (they were out)! We will not be going back. Very disappointing.
one of the best value Italian restaurants in the area. Portions are family size.
Well Buca di Beppo was a total bust for Mother’s Day 😞 they were totally overbooked, despite taking reservations. The room we were in was so unbelievably loud that we couldn’t hear each other sitting at the same table. After an hour of waiting the food never came. We paid for what we actually did get and we left.
The servers and manager on duty were very kind, however, the lack of food and noise killed it for us.
Food was good, but it took forever.
We like Buca, but the last two visits the kitchen were both VERY slow. This time we sat for 20+ minutes without being addressed by any waiter and our food came 1 hr 20 minutes after we were seated. Seriously. The waitress that finally served us was very pleasant, but Buca you have to fix the system. Two other tables in our room also experienced long waits for their food.
BDB is a unique restaurant company...themed dining rooms, lots of old photos, unknowns and well-knowns. Let’s not forget the Pope Room!
We go for the food, and have never been disappointed.
On this visit, the food was great. The service, not so good. The host staff, not attentive. We were seated as a table of 4, silverware (roll-ups) for 3.
The bussing staff, or whoever set the table, 3 plates crusted with dishwasher-fused food. Yuck!
The waiter, also distracted. A large garden salad was ordered dressed with Caesar dressing on the side for 1 person in the party. The salad arrived without dressing. We served 3 salads before realizing the error.
Management, champagne glasses used for wine glasses? Tacky service, necessary the waiter said because a large party was using all the glasses! Really?
Good companies invest their profits in their companies; an Italian restaurant that serves wine regularly doesn’t have cases of wine glasses in back-up?
Salad was great, fresh, generous. Pepperoni pizza, super. Lasagna was huge, and delicious. Lemon Chicken, still a favorite.
Food gets an A. Service a weak C. Management, lucky to get a D. Train your staff. Insist on smiles. Get into your dining room and meet your guests. And buy some wine glasses.
This place needs a thorough cleaning! We had a birthday celebration in the Pope Room. Cute idea, but the bust of the Pope was contained in a plastic box that was very dirty. Please clean it!
The food was decently prepared and the kitschy theme is fun. Our group of 12, which ultimately became 16, had a good time. The cost was less than $50/person including drinks and desserts.
Terrible, terrible service. It took over an hour to get water and some bread. An hour and half to get appetizers - some of which were cold. Server and manager didn’t seem to care at all. Was a totally stressful and unpleasnat experience for a birthday with lots of out of town guests. Will never return.
Service was ok our server seemed preoccupied and was not engaged. Our salad and appetizer were good but our pasta was disappointing and very bland.
Absolutely bad...bad and bad again. From Service to Food.
Service was bad from water to end.
Food - Stuffed Shells overcooked and dry. Shrimp Parmesan, had to have been frozen fried shrimp. It was oh so bad.
This was the third and last strike going to this restaurant.
Our waiter was amazing! His name was Jo and he did a phenomenal job in serving our table of 7! He came by frequently, offered suggestions of the food and was happy to accommodate any of our requests with a smile! He was AWESOME! However, that was the highlight of the dinner. The food was flavorless, the plates and utensils were dirty and several of the menus had straws or food stuck on the inside. Thankfully my father in law was just happy to see his children but he didn't really enjoy anything else...
Buon cumpleanno! Mangia, mangia! When Buca di Beppo is good, it's very very good. Great family-style Italian food. Really good service - we had a lovely chat with our server on a quiet night, and got both great service and a wonderful meal. We ordered way too much food (the servings are huge) and had leftovers for 2 days. When you're in the mood for a party, this is the place (and you don't need a reason for a party but if you're celebrating something special, you'll be made to feel special). Desserts are also huge - the brownie sundae is seriously one of the largest things I've ever seen. Come celebrate!
I eat at Buca weekly and this time it was exceptionally good. From the service to the food, all was perfect!
Celebrating Valentine’s Day!’
Even with a reservation we had to wait an additional 20 mins to be seated and another couple without a reservation went in before us so are making reservations pointless? Food was delicious no complaint. Service was terrible hostess had her thumb in her mouth several times i even caught her doing that while taking some people to their seats. Waiter took a while to get to us being that he was also the bartender. While waiting in the "lobby" the carry out section was overcrowded. We were seated by the bar when we asked not to therefore it was a pretty loud night being that the bar patrons were having a good time. Buca is a nice place to dine im just not sure if ill come back to this establishment. seems it needs better management. I'll stick to driving to DC
All was ok, average experience but was very dirty under the table, so we asked to change the table but it is unacceptable in general and sofa was horribly torn.
Most of the food was excellent - antipasto salad, chicken saltimbocca, rigatoni al forno (so much crunchy prosciutto, pepperoni, and spicy italian sausage) were so delicious and full of flavor and cooked to perfection. On the other hand, the alfredo supremo was HORRIBLE, do not order - dry and bland. The gelato was okay, all the flavors (pistachio, raspberry and maybe vanilla) were all different textures. The pistachio was the best texture and flavor - closest resemblance to gelato. The raspberry seemed more like a super tart sorbet. The vanilla one was icy - like freezer burn.
I made the reservation in the afternoon
We were assigned to the Pope table and it was freezing cold
The waitress said “sorry, the HVAC hasn’t worked all day”
Why did you take reservations when the HVAC was not working?
Awful experience, worst time at Bucca’s
A potentially good family meal was tarnished by poor service, lack of attention to detail, and unwillingness of the staff to respond to customer complaint. An erroneously delivered meal (subsequently touched by guests at another table) was re-delivered to us and it began the downturn of events. Buca di Beppo is made of more but it has turned us away from this location unhappy and probably unwilling to return for sometime. The experience was in stark contrast to the one we had at the DC location.
- We were unable to contact the restaurant via phone. Upon inquiring we were told that their system is not working and did not show any desire to get it fixed!
- The server did not understand out special request and brought incorrect item.
- They restaurant was out of Tiramisu dessert (second time in a month).
- With coffee order only coffee was served we had to ask separately for cream and sugar and spoon.
BUCA DI BEPPO USED TO BE MUCH BETTER THAN THIS BUT NOW IT IS NOTICEBLY SLIDING DOWN ON SERVICE AND FOOD QUALITY.
Food and service as great as always. It is a family oriented restaurant so the servings are big...leftovers!
This was a before Christmas family get-together. 11 people in our group. Saturday at 3:30-5:30 . We knew that this would be a slower time, which meant we had a room to ourselves which was really nice. Everyone enjoyed their food & we got excellent service from our Server. (I wish I could remember his name......but he was great!).
I think this restaurant is a great choice for groups. We found dishes that 2-3 people wanted to share & then passed around all the leftovers afterwards.
The restaurant let us stay & visit with each other as long as we wanted. It was nice, quiet & unhurried! I guess that will vary with the date & time, but that was our experience.
We will do it again next year!!
Always a fun place to eat. Quality is going down a little bit over the decades but still passable.
Buca is always a family favorite, though also a great place for a couple's happy hour. I've never been disappointed by the service nor by the food/drinks.
Was a little dissappointed with portion size. We were advised by the server that what we selected had no pasta. Do find the family style of only multi-person portions sometimes difficult for just 2 people.
Great italian food and great for big groups - friends or family.
The food is noticeably not as good as it once was. We will probably not go back.
The service was excellent and the food was very good. Our server was very attentive too.
Wonderful place for a family get together!
We love the atmosphere and service!
Unfortunately, this was not a pleasant experience. My husband and I had a special early anniversary dinner planned and we had made reservations. We were seated at a two top and the dinner was off to a good start. A small Calamari appetizer was ok to taste but way over priced. As our dinner was being prepared, a large party of at least 30 came in with only 8 out of the total being the adults. Mayhem ensued. They were loud, screaming, throwing, straws, running around, jumping at their tables and it was awful. The parents were not supervising the children at all. The manager came out once to check but said we couldn't be moved Bc "we were full all night" Another table also complained to no avail. Dinner ruined. When we left. There were many tables open and available in quiet areas. Just not sure why it was handled that way. Some of the wait staff apologized including our waitress but others laughed at us as we left. By the way our bill was over 80 dollars without alcohol. We were so disappointed. We will not be back.
The kitchen had problems on Saturday night. It took longer than usual to get food. The food came out of the requested sequence for the large group (10) seated next to us. The manager did come to their aid to calm their anger. We like Buca, but they need to fix these problems.
Server was not very attentive, or experienced. this is not the norm for this restaurant, but he may have been new. Food is consistently good and the home feel good atmosphere is comforting.
Great service, wonderful meal.
We find the family style menu challenging, probably works better for groups. Offer single's versions?
The food was good as always. We arrived early and were promptly seated. There were not that many people there for dinner yet. However, it took an extraordinary amount of time to get the main part of our order. It was long enough I left the table to hunt out the waiter. The salad was outstanding as was the chicken saltimbocca chicken. The brussel sprouts looked great on the menu but were drier that we expected. We mentioned it to the waiter and he did take it off the check. Overall a nice dinner.
Still one of Gaithersburg's little secrets.
Service was good, food was just what we wanted and the value was great.
Hope it doesn't keep itself a secret too long.....
I guess family style is just not our style as we each prefer ordering individual servings to suit our tastes. Nothing remarkable about the food but the decor is certainly Italian. Service was very good. Did not appreciate the staff loudly clinking table settings nor cleaning the floor while we ate.
