Buca di Beppo - Gaithersburg Ratings and Reviews
Unfortunately, this was not a pleasant experience. My husband and I had a special early anniversary dinner planned and we had made reservations. We were seated at a two top and the dinner was off to a good start. A small Calamari appetizer was ok to taste but way over priced. As our dinner was being prepared, a large party of at least 30 came in with only 8 out of the total being the adults. Mayhem ensued. They were loud, screaming, throwing, straws, running around, jumping at their tables and it was awful. The parents were not supervising the children at all. The manager came out once to check but said we couldn't be moved Bc "we were full all night" Another table also complained to no avail. Dinner ruined. When we left. There were many tables open and available in quiet areas. Just not sure why it was handled that way. Some of the wait staff apologized including our waitress but others laughed at us as we left. By the way our bill was over 80 dollars without alcohol. We were so disappointed. We will not be back.
The kitchen had problems on Saturday night. It took longer than usual to get food. The food came out of the requested sequence for the large group (10) seated next to us. The manager did come to their aid to calm their anger. We like Buca, but they need to fix these problems.
The food was good as always. We arrived early and were promptly seated. There were not that many people there for dinner yet. However, it took an extraordinary amount of time to get the main part of our order. It was long enough I left the table to hunt out the waiter. The salad was outstanding as was the chicken saltimbocca chicken. The brussel sprouts looked great on the menu but were drier that we expected. We mentioned it to the waiter and he did take it off the check. Overall a nice dinner.
I guess family style is just not our style as we each prefer ordering individual servings to suit our tastes. Nothing remarkable about the food but the decor is certainly Italian. Service was very good. Did not appreciate the staff loudly clinking table settings nor cleaning the floor while we ate.
We went to Buca Di Beppo for my aunts birthday dinner. We arrived on time for our reservation and we're immediately seated for dinner, it took the waiter about 10-15 minutes to come to take drink orders which was fine because we were deciding what everyone was going to eat. Once we places drink orders the waiter disappeared when we were ready to place food order. This seemed to be a common thing as we continually had to ask another waiter walking by to find our waiter. I personally don't think the food was worth the price & they may want to update the pricing that they show because $30 and under is not an ideal price or estimate because everything is sold a la carte
This is usually a popular and reliable family friendly chain restaurant. Although our waitress was most pleasant and was hustling, service was very slow Saturday night. Even though, it was less busy than usual. Even paying our bill was a challenge. Perhaps it was under-staffing? Management needs to fix this.
Went for a birthday dinner, even put that it was for a birthday dinner when making the reservation, told the waitress we were there for a birthday. Not a single happy birthday, dessert, nothing!!! Waitress forgot to even put in our appetizer then proceeded to blandly apologize for not doing so. Food was so good but the service was horrible!!! I will never go back to that Buca ever!!!
We've been in this restaurant many times before, and like its rustic European ambiance and wholesome Italian food. However there is so many dining choices around, so we haven't been there for 3 or 4 years. The ambiance is still the same, the food was the same good stuff, but the service was horrible. First, our waiter showed up 10 minutes after we were seated, and all this time we were looking at staff running back and forth by our table trying to avoid eye contact. We ordered drinks, appetizers, and the main course all at once, and it started trickling down 10 minutes later. First, mozzarella and tomatoes on a big service plate. The bus boy asked: do you want plates? Sure. 10 min later the plates arrived, Then in another 10 minutes the wine and water were also on the table. By the time the main course was delivered, I've almost finished with my wine and asked for more. It took 18 minutes (!) for the waiter to bring wine, and since I did not want to eat veal marsala without wine, it turned cold by then. The bottom line is that all food we ordered was delivered, and it was very good. But the entire dinner experience was ruined by waiting for missing parts. At no time anybody stopped to ask how we are doing. The place seems to be pretty chaotic, primarily because of a non-existent management. I don't think we will be coming back.
The food is good, the place needs a good cleaning and most of the bath room doors in the women's room are broken. The service is always good and the staff is very friendly. I go there
probably 3 to 4 times a year. I love the old memorabilia, that is my favorite part of this restaurant.
We ordered all our food and drinks few minutes after we were seated. (Around 4:30 pm, May 14). The drinks, appetizers, salad and rolls came pretty quickly. The main course however took over an hour. I kept asking our server where our food was and every time her answer was the kitchen was backed up but it was coming. After about 45 minutes of waiting, I asked to talk to a manager. Up until the time we left the restaurant, no manager bothered to talk to us.
Our family had a very enjoyable Mothers Day day trip. With the unpleasant experience at our last stop - early dinner at Buca, our day ended on a bad note. We will never go back to this restaurant or any of its other locations after the very bad experience. I have been a regular Open Table diner for the last five years and this is the worst dining experience me and my family had bar none.
The food was excellent and our server was very well intentioned. But it was Mother's Day and clearly the restaurant couldn't handle it. Service was VERY slow and we had to ask for everything from utensils to refills to bread, etc. Will not go back on a very advertised and promoted holiday again. Did Thanksgiving last year and it was a hot mess as well. But just for a dinner w/family and friends...very nice.
Buca di Beppo continues to be our favorite Italian restaurant in Gaithersburg, MD. We have never been disappointed in the quality of their food. Our waiter was friendly and very attentive to our dining needs. We highly recommend Buca di Beppo to our friends and family.
I have been going to Buca for years, including many times to this particular property. I have always loved Buca. This time was a little disappointing. The calimari was very overdone and rubbery and without flavor. The server was not well trained. Didn't know the items on the menu and we had to point to things on the menu for him to understand what we wanted. Also, we were at the kitchen table, one of our favorite events, but unlike all the other times at that table, there was no interaction with the kitchen staff, they pretty much ignored us until we were leaving. All in all this one property on this one night was not one of my usual pleasant evenings at Buca.
Great family dinner. We had a group of 10 and they sat us in a square table, which was great because we could all have conversation with each other as a group. The food came out at a reasonable rate and was all very tasty, especially the Eggplant Parmesan. The garlic bread was out of this world.
I am so disappointed with my party of 8 being crammed into the small booth in the bar in a mostly empty restaurant. After asking twice to move I was told the manager said no. BTW there were two tables for 8 never seated the entire time we were in the restaurant. This was followed by the oil plate being dumped down my leg..followed by an endless parade of waitstaff standing at the register complaining about their day, their recent illnesses and customers. I'm sorry but my frequent dining where has ended today.
I was so disappointed with experience. It was Pizza Day. We decided we wanted to have a good meal at a favorite restaurant so I made reservations at Buca, our neighborhood gem. Boy did we make a mistake.
Our Pizza was delayed because the waitress said they were so busy making Pizzas. Then she came back again to apologize that they made the wrong Pizza.
To make matters worse our salad also came late and my Sangria didn't have any fruit in it.
To top the entire evening off, the manager came over at the end of the meal and gave me a hard time. She wouldn't accept my Groupon along with Buca's pizza promotion discount after both offers were redeemed. She casually told me to contact Groupon to get my $10 refunded.
The trouble she gave me over saving the restaurant $10 has caused me to never want to go back to the Buca di Beppo in Gaithersburg. It's a shame. Now our go to place is Brio's.
The service was terrible- we waited 15 mins to order drinks. It took the waiter another 10 mins to bring out water- and another 10 for the drinks. My Ice Tea was a yellow color , you would think he would have noticed this before bringing it to the table. We walked out .
We arrived on time for our reservation for Christmas Dinner. It was very crowded. We were seated about 30 minutes after our arrival. This was one of the few restaurants open on Christmas Day and it showed. The staff was pleasant, but seemed to be spread too thin. One set-up for utensils was missing, one large bowl of pasta came luke warm to cool in spots, the other came warm to hot. Bread was cooled. Service was spotty and slow, and it was pretty loud with conversation, but again, I attributed these drawbacks to the huge crowd and I was appreciative they were open on Christmas Day. Other than the temperature of the food and spotty service, our family of four found the pasta to be ample and very good. Prices were very reasonable. Family of four with tip - $75. To be fair, I would like to return on a normal business day before reviewing their service, and we probably will return in the future.
We have visited this location 40+ times. The last few times, there has been a drop off in service. For our reservation, nobody was at the door to seat us for about 5 mins. Once seated it took 10 mins for a server to show up. When the drinks arrived, we commented how the soda tasted like chlorine. Eventually our app salad came. It was flavorless. It was as if someone poured oil on lettuce and onions. AFTER the salad came, the server finally took our order. We ordered prosciutto stuffed chicken, a LARGE cheese pizza, and a side meatball and spicy sausage. As guests are leaving, NOBODY is cleaning up the tables around us. The server left a dirty tray on the table next to us. He never came back to check on us, and after 45 mins, I went hunting for him. He told us that the kitchen had yet to make our LARGE pizza. In a mostly empty restaurant, after 45 mins we're waiting on the kitchen to start the easiest part of our meal? Another 20 mins go by, and the food comes. The chicken was burned, the meatball was cold, and the pizza was the small size. The server told me that they made a mistake and were working on a new pizza for us. I proceeded to vent that this was unacceptable, so he got the manager. I told the manager that the place has gone downhill in the last year, and it was embarrassing. I pointed out the dirty tables that had been around us for hour, and the dirty tray that the server left on the clean table next to us - which became MY dumping ground for trash and dishes. He apologized and said we didn't have to pay and that he'd be right back to check on us. He offered to give us a gift card on top of not paying for the meal, but he would be back. I let my kids eat the pizza, and cut off what they could of the burned chicken (the manager had already taken away the cold meatball), so they ate but the adults didn't. After waiting for the manager to show up again, after we ate and used the restroom, we gave up and walked out. We will not likely be returning.
