Buca di Beppo - Frisco Ratings and Reviews
Food was good and we love the family style but service was terrible. Had to wait forever on food and waiter was slow to refill glasses. He forgot our garlic bread order, brought the wrong size pizza and we barely had enough food because he talked us into ordering less than our original plan. We have never had such poor service before. He even brought us the check with our desserts.
Seated in empty section of restaurant, after waiting for 10 minutes with no service we asked to be moved, we were ensured we wouldn't be forgotten and could stay in current section. Appetizer we ordered was half correct, salad came out 30 seconds prior to main meal, drink orders were completely forgotten at this point, only one of the entrees was incorrect, out of four. We are one hour and thirty minutes in now, as we wait for our check and ensure what we ordered and didn't receive was not on check. 1 hour and 45 minutes in now. At this point, just ready to leave and not pay. After 2 hours, I hope no one is expecting a tip for this level of service. Perhaps a refund should come my way. Worst service of any restaurant I have been to in a looooong time.
We've been to many Buca's around the country, had pretty good experiences when we lived in Los Angeles. The one in Charlotte NC was a nightmare, never had a good experience there. We thought, "hey let's give the one in Frisco a try"... The food and serve were much better here, thankfully. We were lucky enough to get to sit at the Chef's table. One of the pasta dishes was delicious but spicier that I remembered from the past, and the frutti di mare was good but the linguine wasn't especially flavorful, but the rest of the food was pretty good. We tried a meatball appetizer, three main dishes, a pizza and dessert. We'd go back.
I had not been to this restaurant in years so decided to try it for a birthday celebration. We were seated by a birthday party of 10 shreiking 5 year old girls! Could not hear ourselves think!! We ordered the Chicken Saltinboca which was good until we realized it did not come with spaghetti. A side of spaghetti was $18 which was very bland and greasy. Food otherwise was blah and unimpressive. Very expensive and not an enjoyable experience. We will not be back. Just have too many other good Italian restaurants locally to be disappointed or spend so much for a mediocre meal!
My last two visits were recent and both were not as pleasant as past experiences. The inside is beginning to look beat up and not in an eclectic way. Servers forgot things both times. First time bread, second time the Apple G salad. It was ridiculously loud. We had our food packed up and left. I'm thinking that if we patron there in the future it would be carry out.
The place is very different, on our way in since it was our first time they took us on a bit of a tour, very interesting place, once seated they explained the concept and history, then they told us about the portions (family style) and that we should try and share some dishes between the 4 of us. Well nobody listened to that and everyone ordered their own dish and we ended up with a mountain of food. Beside the very large family style portions the food was excellent and the service was equal to the food, all in all a very good time had by all. We will be back!
Dinner started off well. Entire family including three kids were dining to celebrate family gatherings. Server politely asked for drink order. Came back few minutes later to take the meal order. Started with an appetizer Bruschetta. It was weird at first because toppings were not on top of the Parmesan crostini. They were all inside in a big cocktail looking cup. We had to scoop all topics from the cup and put them on top of the Parmesan crostini.
Kids meal came out next where they ordered cheese pizza and spaghetti with meatballs. To be frank, cheese pizza was terrible where cheese tasted too salty. Spaghetti with meatballs on the other hand had no flavor so kids had to put on some red crushed peppers to spice them up.
Adults main meal came out near perfect (spaghetti with meatballs), but we had to add few drops of Tabasco to spice things up. HOWEVER, when we were about to eat, there was a noisy customer who was drunk yelling and screaming. Got on a multiple calls and screamed even more. Waiter nor bartender didn't bother controlling the guy, he just kept going and going with the scream. Table next to us with their kids left quickly and far table with their kids also did he same. Kids from our table started to get nervous and could not eat their meal, cheese pizza tasted so bad that I couldn't eat them even with extra red crush peppers and Tabasco.
After trying to attempt to get out from the restaurant, waiter asked if we are interested in dessert. Of course kids wants dessert, including adults. So we ordered Gelato, made with three type of gelato topped off with sugar cones. After 5 minutes later waiter comes back to our table and tells us that they are out of sugar cones. But since kids are already looking forward to the ice cream, we ordered it anyways. Few minutes later, ice cream arrives to our table and quickly ate and asked for the check. Even with all the noise, missing sugar cones, I paid full price (with tip) and left there as quickly as possible.
Didn't have two of the wine whites listed in the menu.
Wife ordered Proseco and it came to the table dead-flat.
Food trickled out. Had to ask for okive oil for bread, straws for drinks, and plates to eat off of. Sat at a table with an enormous rip in the cushion ( it very comfirtable.
Not my first time here. Been to multiple locations in various states. Easily the worst experience. The location in Frisco has given up.
Had a reservation at 6:30 pm but didn't seat us until 6:45 - waiter or runner brought out appetizers before our beverages and didn't clear our dinner plates before bringing out dessert, we had to ask him to bus the table.
We like the food very much and the ambience of the restaurant, maybe just a little more training for staff.
In past experiences, the food is perfectly fine. This review is specifically how we were treated on our last visit. We never actually made it to a table. We arrived for our reservation ten minutes early for our 7:45 reservation. It took me a few minutes to actually check in because the waiting room was packed and the hostess was not paying attention at all.
She told me that we would be seated about five minutes late. That was fine. Looking at the packed room - we could barely move.
At 8, we asked when we would be seated. "You are next" she said.
Four different tables were seated, of the same party size as ours. At 8:10, we asked again. "You are next", she said again.
A group of five walked in and were immediately seated.
I was livid and told the hostess we were going to leave - that it was unacceptable. My husband spoke with the manager. He claimed that the hostess was new. The seating system had us at a specific table and the people at that table were just chatting and had not left yet. The hostess should have moved us to a different, open table. Instead she just kept seating others of the same party size. The manager offered to seat us immediately with a comp'ed item. At this point, I had already left the restaurant.
But what happened next was even more infuriating. They marked us as a No Show here on OpenTable. I had to refute the claim. I am NOT returning to this restaurant.
This was an excellent lunch experience for us (me, my wife and my 12 years old son). Crew was very kind. Specially our waitress Tim, HE WAS AWESOME. He made our entire visit very happy and comfortable with his comments and jokes. He made good suggestions for food too. Food and dessert were delicious.
WE all enjoyed this Mother's Day lunch experience in Buca di Beppo. Hope to see Tim next time :)
Initially they sit our party of 6 at a booth for 4 people, even though we had reservations for Mother's Day. Most of our party is on the larger side, so it was going to be a real challenge to squeeze into the booth. While we were weighing our options and considering leaving (on Mother's Day), another waiter came to our rescue and took us to another table. The place was crowded and loud, with screaming children. The food was family style and was decent, but I would not recommend this place, especially on a holiday. On the plus side, our waiter was a very nice person. There are much better places to eat in Frisco, so why waste your time and money. For your reference, our tab was $160 without tip for 6 people, with 4 beers and a wine purchased.
This is always a fun place, and Mother's Day was no exception, in spite of part of our party arriving late. We experienced excellent service from Michele, who was attentive, friendly, courteous, and very prompt in taking care of every request. Thanks for all you did to make this a great experience!
The service was incredible. We had two waiters who were very attentive. Our food was a huge disappointment, however. We ordered the baked ziti and it came out with hardly any sauce on it. It was truly just noodles with cheese on top. I thought maybe they got our order mixed up with someone else's who may have ordered it that way. It was $20 for that! Our waiter offered to take it back however we declined because everyone else at our table had already gotten their food. Our waiter brought out sauce for us to use, it was just not the same. I will probably not be going back.
