Buca di Beppo - Encino Ratings and Reviews
Everything was great with the exception of the tables being so close to each other. We were literally elbow to elbow with the neighboring table. Honestly, I understand why they cram everyone in during special holidays it did lessen the romantic dinner we were expecting to have.
We came here on a friday night and upon arrival we were told that it would be a 45 minute wait for 2 and this was at 7:40pm. I walked outside and went on my opentable app and noticed that i could make a reservation for 7:45 for 2. I clicked on it and went back inside. Im sure the server felt really dumb when she say me again with my reservation and had to tell me that my table was almost ready..instead of 45 mins. Seconds later before being seated a couple walked in and i overheard the host telling them there was a 45 min wait. I was outraged and as they were leaving i pulled them over and told them to download the opentable app because the 45 min wait was a lie. They were really happy that i spoke up.
When we were sat, our server told forever to come by. Took so long to come by that a gentlemen that looked as if though he was the manager toom our drink and food order.
The server came back a few mins later to take our order and we explained to her that someone had already taken our order. Her follpwing words were "oh well too bad. Less work for me" horrible! She never brought us bread and the drink order was brought wrong. Had to bring it to their attention and then they took another 10 mins to get me my correct drink. Wow!
The food eventually came
The $30 appetizer and our 2 main courses. Werent they taught that appetizer comes first???
We didnt complain because we were just hungry at that point. Appetizer was good, fettucini alfredo was watery and we could clearly tell that the portion was smaller ( since we are constant visitors) and the chicken dish was overcooked. The server never came back to ask how it was going and it took forever to get the check and she kept forgetting our boxes, along with the people that were sitting next to us requests. This was probably the worst customer service ive encountered at a bucca di beppo and even though convenient and close by to us, i dont know if we will ever return. 2 thumbs down unfortunately.
Great service . We had two toddlers with us so our server offered the kids pizza dough to play with. We were 8 people, server recommended we order 2 small dishes and 1 large. We decided to order 2 large dishes and 1 small... we had so much left over! It's. Great deal if you plan to eat family style.
Buca is usually pretty consistent.. decent plentiful food; service is generally OK (some check-ups but almost always need to wait/ask for drink refills, etc.) and this visit was no exception.
Biggest change here was a new (for us) $15 "cakeage" fee. I understand Buca's desire to sell their own desserts, but a) this fee is excessive and b) we were not notified about at the time of the reservation (so it was pretty much too late to do anything about it, so we had to swallow it).
New Manager did not know had to handle customers. Would not accommodate specific party room request made in advance, then sat party in hot room with no air conditioner, then moved party to crowded room with two other large parties, SPECIFICALLY WHAT WE ASKED TO AVOID! Then had argument with her over cake cutting fee for birthday cake, which we asked her to wave as goodwill for totally ruining our birthday celebration. She INSISTED on arguing and having the last word. ABSOLUTELY AND TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL.
Very helpful in verifying our decision to NEVER RETURN TO THIS RESTAURANT!
We have gone to this restaurant periodically for years but had not been in some time. We asked as always to sit in our favorite server's area but were told she is no longer there. We were then seated in what had been her section and we heard our new server and kitchen staff talking about how they had liked to make fun of her, apparently to her face. I had no idea why. She was probably in her late 50's, and terrific and charming. I asked our server about her and she said that she had really liked the former server and missed her. Did not help our mood when my husband's meat sauce was overpowered by way too much pepper. We will not go back.
Made a reservation for 9 o'clock, upon arrival to the restaurant, the restaurant was closed. Apparently, having been recently "shut down". Either way, this left me with no reservations on a Friday night for a graduation celebration dinner. A heads up, would've been nice. Some sort of email or call saying they would not be able to accommodate the reservation.
Everything was okay, we had added incorrectly for the number of people by saying six plus a high chair. Apparently they counted this as seven people and gave us a hard time when we arrived. Granted, it was Mother's Day and they were busy. However, I don't think it is good customer service to give a customer a hard time when they are bringing more people into the restaraunt.
Buca di Beppo is feeling a bit dated. The food was okay. It just feels tired. I remember when it was the happening place for groups. They are clinging to large, shared portions of decent food, when a lot of competing restaurants are offering more modern cuisine and not in the gargantuan portions. Maybe change the concept and cater to individual diners.
We have dined at Buca di Beppo Encino many times, almost always enjoyed it a lot. This time was a big disappointment. The server was pleasant when she was around, but slow. They must have left our appetizer platter sitting somewhere for a long time, everything was cold. The "spicy chicken rigatoni" was gummy and not very warm either. The apple walnut gorgonzola salad -- a favorite -- seemed much less flavorful than we remembered. Won't be back unless we have some reason to think that this was just "an off night."
HORRIBLE Restaurant. Four of us were there to Celebrate my husband's 75th Birthday. The lasagna was OLD, OVERCOOKED with cheese on top that was burned. Dried out NO FLAVOR, BLAND. The Chicken Limone had 3 very SMALL pieces for $23.99???
Our server Brad was not very attentive. We ordered a 2nd bottle of wine but by the time it came 10 mins later we were almost finished eating. WHERE WAS HE with that bottle of wine? It was not that busy for a server to not be attentive. I had put in the reservation that it was my husband's 75th Birthday AND we mentioned it to our server. They didn't come around to sing or Celebrate and we had a coupon for $15 off $30 plus Birthday cake. NO CAKE, no mention and food was BLAND & OVERCOOKED. We asked for our remaining antipasti salad to be packed to go. NEVER GOT IT. Our server said, he never heard us ask hmm? Wouldn't you offer to guest if they want their remaining anything to be packed to go? Brad was smug with an insincere attempt at an apology. THEN he said, well there wasn't much left so he assumed we didn't want it. In their HUGH white bowls some left at the bottom may not seem like much to Brad but it was enough for us to take home. NOT GOOD. We mentioned our disappointment on our way out. NO ONE SEEMED to CARE.
WE WILL NEVER COME BACK THERE EVER AGAIN.
I agreed with the other reviews. I came with my family. We had reservation and ended up waiting for table. Ordered foods and drinks. Drinks arrived in reasonable time. Foods arrived extremely slow. It tasted very plain. I would not come back and would not recommend Buca in Encino.
We were very disappointed with our experience on March 3. Upon seated we waited close to 20 minutes before we called someone over to see if we could get service. The waiter came finally and stated he did not know he was assigned to our table. Then it took at least a half hour before we were served. We had a brand new waiter and he was very nice so I am not going to fault him on the service as it was his first day. The main disappointment was the food -- it was awful and the linguine and white clam sauce was cold and spicy. The eggplant Parmesan was substandard in it just had no taste, however, it was served hot. We have patronized your restaurant on many occasions so you can imagine our surprise that it was awful. We were there to celebrate my mother's 93rd birthday and when I told them the hostess said ok and then again I told our waiter. The response from your waiter in front of my mother was this -- "we do not do a dessert for patrons on their birthday, you can buy one -- he also mentioned how we could purchase a coupon or join your special club. WOW! We declined to purchase a dessert as our dinner food was awful. I live in Redondo Beach and order quite frequently from that restaurant and the food is always good. Needless to say we will never patronage your Encino restaurant again. Very disappointed because it was my mother's 93rd birthday and was her favorite restaurant.
Great time at Buca on Valentine's Day. The service wasn't the best but it was pretty good considering the place was packed and every employee seemed incredibly busy. The food was great as always and the waiters are very helpful if you're not sure what to order.
