Buca di Beppo used to be our favorite restaurants for Italian food because of great food and great value. But the last few times, we noticed the price increase while quantity and quality were going downward. The small order used to be too much for one person but now it is only enough for one person. Besides, the small order used to be a lot less than $30. We will not be back anytime soon, and probably won’t be back to Buca. There are many other good Italian restaurants in Indy area with much more honest portion of food at more reasonable price.
We appreciate you for taking the time to write this review as our customer's feedback is very important to us. We will be sure to share your thoughts with our team and thank you for reaching out to us.
This is the oddest layout of a restaurant I’ve ever experienced — you enter basically through one of several kitchens and then proceed through the back of house to get to disparate dining rooms. The staff is lovely, the food standard Buca fare, but we had to stare at a stack of CAUTION WET FLOOR signs propped up in a service hallway our whole meal. Taking my kids to the restroom meant dodging a dozen wait staff with carts and trays. Constant noise of breaking china and glasses. Not the experience we were hoping for.
Amy, we appreciate you taking the time to write to us and are sorry to hear you did not fully enjoy your recent visit. Please know that your feedback will be shared with our management team in an effort to improve future guest experiences. Thank you for reaching out to us.
Big business group of 9 people. Great food and service. Will return next year during Gen Con! :)
We are so glad you had such a great time with us. We look forward to seeing you back soon!
Cold food and lackluster service for expensive food - not worth the 2 hours we spent there.
We are sorry to hear you had an unsatisfactory experience and value your feedback. We will be sure to share this experience with our staff in an effort to improve future guest experiences.
It was our fault for going on dinner hours in the first place. Having said that, a small salad is $21. Yes that’s technically for 2-3 people, but $21?!?! You can’t get an individual one in the dining room.
The food wasn’t good, the WiFi didn’t work, and costs are insane.
Good food and lots of it. Fun environment. Best fur groups
We enjoyed our experience very much and our server, Sean, I think, was fabulous.
We all agreed, however, that the evening was very expensive.
Good experience overall!
Very slow service. Same as last experience 5 months ago.
Used to love this place. Maybe it’s just the downtown location. Yes, we had a reservation. Salad was the highlight. Not even sure where to begin. 8 people celebrating Mother’s Day. It’s not easy to socialize at two round tables pushed together. Yes, there were open more conducive tables available. I was not the first to arrive or I would have requested to be moved. Plates were hot, but lasagna and spaghetti & meatballs were lukewarm at best. Sent back the soupy mashed potatoes that were so cold the dollop of butter didn’t begin to melt. Mother’s Day early reservation and 1/2 of their dessert menu is sold out? One saucer of olive oil for the table. Requested more, but it never arrived. Asked for more water, but never arrived. My suggestion is to hire more help or limit your # of guests to adequately service your customers. I will be surprised if this location survives 2019. So many great restaurants in downtown Indy and I chose this one :(.
Mother's day lunch. Got right in, but sat us in the bar area with kids. 8 people smushed into a bar booth. Let's just say we had to get up a lot.
Service was ok at first, but they forgot to take our order. Had to ask after 30 minutes. Not attentive to drink refills. We were an afterthought. No separate server, just the bartender. Not good.
Manager was apologetic, but I'd be hesitant to try again.
I gave the high marks due now know where not to go! We ordered the Short Rib Orecchiette, Roma, Italy. VERY bland and only contained about 4 ounces of beef (reminded me of the old "Wheres the Beef" commercials). My wife had to add salt many times (vivid salt hater) just to get flavor. Older place and smelly with a fair wait staff. We will not return - dropped $60 to find out poor food is not well liked but, educated for future endeavors.
Good food and service...
Buca di Beppo is good but not incredible Italian food. You don't go there for the culinary experience, but it's great for a group and our mom's love it. Our server Sean was, however, incredible. He was the perfect balance of personable, funny, and attentive, and all in a genuine way.
Food was good, I really wish they gave the option of ordering food for only 1 person, everything is bought in quantities of either 3 or 5 people.
They didn't have bread. No garlic bread, no bruschetta, no bread. The server was not kind and was agitated everytime we asked for something. The pasta was so overcooked, it was mushy. Ugh
Good food and lots of it. The small dishes will definitely feed more than three people. The Gorgonzola Apple salad is great, almost a meal itself paired with the table bread. Server was attentive and knowledgeable but didn't hover. Always a fun place for lunch or dinner.
First off it was very busy and noisy. The seating is so tight it felt like we were crammed in our booth. The air was very stuffy and uncomfortable. We ordered chicken limone and the texture of the chicken was rubbery. We also ordered the baked ziti and chicken carbonara neither were very good. Our waiter was friendly but seemed overworked. He kept forgetting us. I had planned on charging our dinner on a card that giving extra points for dining but I paid cash instead because we were tired of waiting on our waiter. Needless to say, we won’t be going back anytime soon!
steven was our server and did a great Job, food was ( as always great)
Excellent food and service!
Food wasn’t cook properly but good mashed potatoes
They had prom guest so big parties so really didn’t care that my table was just 3. Food wasn’t the best. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary but nothing said or asked.
Awesome time great food
I'll try to overlook the ridiculous price of pasta, bruschetta (diced tomatoes and slices of bread), and salad. What is really disappointing is the slow service and feeling like you are pestering the waitress to ask for a refill of iced tea... or even when you can expect your dinner after sitting for over an hour post-order. As the coordinator of our part of 11, I was not particularly pleased with Buca di Beppo.
The atmosphere was good and had a 1920s feel to it. However, we didn’t like you HAD to buy a meal for 3 or 5 of the same thing. We have 5 in our family and all wanted something different. Ended up buying 3 meals for 3 and an appetizer totaling over $200.
The food they had was good, but they ran out of salad and bread!? Really, at an Italian restaurant? The manager didn’t even ask if she could make it up to us. Disappointed to say the least
Restaurant was a little dirty. Overall service was
We loved our servers they were outstanding but spread to thin so service could have been better. Made a reservation but waited nearly an hour to be seated. 2 hours before food was served. Food was great! We made it work!
Great experience, would recommend to anyone.
We ordered an appetizer, big spaghetti meal and garlic bread. Our appetizer came out with our spaghetti.. the spaghetti was undercooked and extremely watered down, we never received our bread. The server was rude and didn’t refill our drinks. We were very disappointed to say the least.
Fabulous birthday dinner!
We were confused when we walked in since we walked through the kitchen/prep area. Everyone who greeted us was very nice. They were not busy at all, like I figured they would be, so reservations were not needed. In the seating area, it was completely empty except for a family that was already seated. This family was very loud. The hostess should have put space between us for a little added privacy since the place was empty, but instead put us in a booth backed right up to the loud family. It made it very awkward. They also put 5 of us (again, had a reservation) in a booth for 4 people, only set up for four people. So, my fiance had to get another set of silverware. The waiter was awesome. He checked on us a lot. Then, at the end, another family came in, and they sat them really close to us as well! It seems as though they didn't want to let anyone have any space. Anyway, over all, it wasn't terrible. But, I can't say that we would go back.
Buca is always a good choice for a group. Food is great, service is too. I usually start out feeling like we don't order enough food but in the end it is always plenty! Only little snag this time was that our reservation was for 10 people but when we were being seated at a table for 10, we were told we'd have to move to a table of 8 due to a banquet in the adjoining space. We ended up with 9 people and it was cramped but we made it work.
We were seated in the bar, which started out loud, but as night progressed, it emptied out, and was easier to hear each other in conversation. Food was good, waitress was ok in the beginning, but seemed to warm up to us as the night progressed, which turned out great!!
Was put in loud area. Ask hostess to move us. Was apathetic. Disappointing.
Long long time to get drinks, even water.
Appetizer never showed up, but did show up on the bill ( even though we had already discussed it with waitress)
Food was cold. Place was obnoxiously loud.
We had a reservation and ended up in a very noisy area with too much lighting. Once seated the server stop by and said they would be right back. It was 15 minutes later someone finally came back after we went to the bar to get our own drinks. We heard 5 minutes of the server's life drama and we were getting in patient as we had an event to be at. We were able to finally order and the food came out pretty quickly but we ended up having to eat quickly. It was a bad experience and there were no actions to correct it, no management to apologize, and we felt like it didn't matter if we were there or not. I wish they would take action to recover this experience as we will not be recommending this place to others.
Nice place to enjoy with a large family.
