Great for an un-traditional Thanksgiving dinner (though traditional fare is available).
This is our 3rd year doing Thanksgiving here. Our kids love it, not very crowded, food is good, and this time our server and the kitchen service was lightning fast.
The only negative is that the decor looks a bit tired and dusty. Several of the bulbs on the holiday lights and spot lighting were burnt out. But other than that all was great.
Great place for a big group to share unhealthy and delicious Italian-American comfort food and have a conversation w/o fighting to be heard. Wine list a bit weak, but food pleases all non-vegetarian palates.
Buca di Beppo is...Buca di Beppo. Family style no frill but good Italian fare at a decent price. This location is also convenient for large groups.
We went to Buca di Beppo in DC for dinner the night before the Marine Corps Marathon to load up on carbs. The food was very good but we were disappointed and surprised to find out that they had run out of meatballs. It was only 7:00! What?!
Great time. The food was good and very good size family portions. One salad was enough for 10 of us. They even brought us a cake for my parents anniversary!
We were seated at the kitchen table, which we have requested. The table was nicely set-up when we got there (reservation for 4). The service was a little slow, our waiter was busy with other tables inside the restaurant and failed to provide a prompt and efficient service to us. But overall, good food, and a great experience for our friends from out of town.
Frozen cake brought out after we had been waiting for 20 minutes. I preordered the cake a week before. The cake was rock hard in the middle. No apologies about the cake or offer to take it off the bill when clearly no one had eaten it and 2/3 of the cake was left uncut. Parts of our order were forgotten and they were out of a selection of wine on the menu.
We used a coupon for $15 per person for a special group meal. Server only checked on us once, never refilled my friend's iced tea. I've been here before with much better service, it wasn't even very busy so our waiter should have been more attentive and enthusiastic. Chicken picatta was delicious but spaghetti barely had enough sauce.
I usually like eating at Buca but over all of the years that me and my family have been going there, this day Friday Sep. 16, 2016 was literally our worst experience. We were seated in a large back room with the tables shoved together in the middle of the room. We asked for something more comfortable near the seating area by the bar and the host said "they had several groups that were coming in" We had to deal with very slow wait times this night. Then we were seated by the loudest group of twenty grown people that were talking loud and constantly bumping our seats to get when getting up and down. The chicken Parmesan we tried for the first time and liked it. Due to the noise we did not really enjoy our dining experience.
extremely tasty food for a good price. The service was excellent. The waiter paid attention to details and was very affable and friendly. Liked the atmosphere
We were here to celebrate our wedding anniversary, as we held our rehearsal dinner here 3 years prior. We were disappointed that they never acknowledged our special occasion, even though we listed it on our reservation and told them upon arrival. Additionally, the waiter never asked if we wanted dessert. He just showed up with the check once we finished the main course and seemed anxious to leave. Maybe it was the end of his shift?? Also, we asked for the wine special that was on the table when we arrived, and they charged us the regular price, which was $12 more. Kind of a let down, after an hour drive when our expectations were high for a memorable occasion.
The restaurant no longer offers valet as stated on the site, but meter parking is free out front after 6:30pm.
We booked last minute and snagged a spot at the kitchen table. Yes it's located in the middle of the kitchen and the kitchen staff was terrific. The waiter was ok, lacking personality, but we had fun and were even brought extra goodies including these fat, delicious meatballs. Despite us having recently married and shared that, there was no surprise dessert by the waiter. This place is known for celebrations such as birthdays and such. Was a little surprised that despite them asking if we were celebrating anything and giving that information to the waiter, nothing was done about it. Overall the food was fantastic and the experience even better.
Fun place with great service and delicious food. I highly recommend it!
I frequent Buca but may hesitate in the future. The service was horrible. I signed up for the Buca app and tried for a week to download the special offers. I told them ahead of time we were celebrating birthdays and they failed to do anything until I asked in front of my guests. I was charged full price for lasagna and finally got the coupon the next day. I never received the free birthday cake voucher I was invited to submit a request for via email. The server was absolutely terrible. He messed up every aspect of the order. He never came back to refill drinks. He brought us nothing we asked for without two reminders.
Very tasty and diverse Italian entrees with very generous portions. Great salad selections. Very spacious but a little noisy with various youth tour groups. Excellent, affable waiter service. Very accommodating establishment and personnel. Highly recommend if one wants delicious Italian ethnic foods. Loved the decor.
The lasagna was very good and the portions are generous for the price. The waiter was nice friendly and attentive.
We had excellent service and delicious food! Our waiter was wonderful and attentive.
Horrible service...food was OK, but the service was not there. It was not a busy night, but people were running around with plates asking "did you order the meatballs"? They forgot to bring out my soup, which then came a few minutes after the main pasta meal (soup was cold). Bread also did not come out until main meal was delivered. I then ordered coffee and ice cream. Before that came out he bill was dropped off with a "take your time in paying". Where's my coffee??? Oh, sorry.
Lastly (actually, first issue) was when I checked in. I gave my last name. He repeated my first name, and I was seated. Then then had me as a "no show"...what?
More than ample portions of the enter. Very diverse variety of pasta and Salads. Service by Camellavwas courteous, affable & outstanding. My spicy Italian sausage pasta was well-prepared. Garlic bread was tasty. Cheesecake was moist and scrumptious
Our reservation was at 7:00. At 7:30 a bus arrived and they were more interested in seating the bus rather than folks with reservations. It appears the restaurant would rather serve the tourist industry rather than the locals. We finally left when the host said he was clearing tables and that it would be a long wait. We had already waited 30 minutes.
They overbooked the entire place with 200 school kids who were over 45 minutes late for their reservation. They still sat them. So when I arrived for my 11 party reservation that I'd had for 2.5 months, not only were they completely overwhelmed but lied to us multiple times about how long it would take for us to be seated. It took 40 minutes for them to seat us, and 20 minutes of that I had to flag down the hostess multiple times asking for a place for my father to sit because he's handicap.
Once we were seated it took at least 30 minutes for our waiter to even arrive. Another hour for appetizers (which, after talking to the manager, were offered to us free). Another hour for our entrees, which some came out wrong. Once we got our check the numbers were completely wrong, the waiter stated that we "ordered too many appetizers to get them all free", and then came back later to apologize for "jumping the gun and thinking you were pulling a fast one on us". He also blamed his lack of remembering to bring our drinks for the two hours on one person arriving late and messing up the number of drinks he had to bring. We all waited for the 40 minutes together, so he was out of his mind.
They ended up getting our check wrong three times, charging us extra, and making us redo everything for at least another 40 minutes. Once everything was fixed, he charged the wrong bill to the wrong cards (we paid with two cards), and then we had to do everything over again.
I had this reservation for two months, for my GRADUATION day. It was supposed to be special, where my friends families could meet, reminisce and get to know each other. It was supposed to be a last hurrah with great food, great service, and just generally be a great time.
It was the exact opposite of that in all forms. I felt embarrassed, ashamed, and unbelievably disappointed that this would be the last memories I would have with my best friends and families before we all went on separate paths.
Mother's Day dinner at Buca was the most disappointing meal I have ever had anywhere, even more so as I have enjoyed fun and delicious meals there in the past and was looking forward to this evening with my children.
Love their sauce! Very accommodating when we asked for steamed broccoli and extra sauce.
We had a 6:30 reservation but arrived early (around 5:15). Despite have 3-4 school groups arriving all at the same time, we were accommodated within 15 min. The entire staff here is very friendly. The hostess, Cayla was charming. The food is delicious -- come with a big crowd and share everything!!
Great authentic food. Family style servings allows you to share and enjoy different choices.
we were out celebrating out anniversary and the food portions are so generous. The waitress Freweny is nice, friendly and made suggestions about dishes to try.
The food was great. The service was great.
My first experience was overall good - not great. I was bit nervous when we pulled up to the restaurant and three charter bus loads of teenagers were going into the restaurant. The buses blocked the valet parking, so this was our first challenge.
When I arrived at the host stand, I gave my name for the reservation. We were about five minutes early and the host had a concerned look on his face and said that he hoped to have a table for us soon and he would call someone to get an estimate. I gave him a concerned look back and went to wait. Fortunately; it turned out to not be a long wait. Still beat my boyfriend to the table as he had a long wait for the valet.
The food was good. Not the best. Mass produced. But seemed to be all quality ingredients.
Slow service on an empty night. Food took forever, wrong food came out, item on bill that shouldn't have been. We love Buca and out of all the years we've never had such a horrible experience
The food was mediocre on the scale of italian food. The real crime here is the price of their plates! $37 for a large helping of ziti is insane. The other issue was that the waiter didn't mention that a large plate would be 6x the amount of food we needed. It was an ok dining option and I can see it being good for larger groups or people with kids, but I won't be going back.
This was great with our group of 7 young ladies.
I would only return if it is a large group again.... not for a date night.
The food was ok, and the ambiance was lively.
Love this place. You won't leave hungry!
A great spot for our mid-week dinner with Dad and 5 college students! Wait staff was very attentive, portions were just right. Just what the Dr ordered.
This was our first time at Buca di Beppo. I had a gift card so I brought the family for dinner on New Year's Eve. We arrived at 6:00 and the place was only about 25% full. We were given a tour of the restaurant and the kitchen, which was a bit of a novelty, and a nice touch. Unfortunately that was the highlight of our experience. The service was good - attentive without being overbearing - but the food was very forgettable. The dishes are served family style. We ordered chicken saltimbocca and veal marsala. The marsala was overly sweet and the saltimbocca was basically flavorless.
We traditionally dine here on Christmas Day but I don't think we'll do it again. Service was slow, calamari wasn't good, I requested a warm spinach salad w/o tomatoes and cheese, received salad with ONLY spinach. We valet our cars, as we stood there we witnessed them bumping the car behind ours which caused slight damage to our car. They denied it :-/
We were a party of 2 dining at Buca for the first time. Ambiance is very entertaining; unfortunately noise levels rose rapidly as the dining area filled. Food was average to good. We were a little disappointed it was not better since we have heard good things about the restaurant.
In DC for holidays was 20 minute walk from hotel and we know chain. Very generous portions and good value, provides good honest food. Only ossue was we got placed near a very large noisy party when a nuch quieter section had space.
The food here is always fresh and fantastic. Unfortunately, service was less so. We had a large party of 14 and requested 4 separate checks (parties of 4, 4, 4 and 2). Each "check" sat together so it wasn't like the waiter had to figure who was with which check. There was even an assistant waiter but she was essentially clueless. It took forever for us to get water much less our drink orders. But eventually the food came out (more or less at the same time) and it was fabulous. Our checks were completely screwed up. We had to have ours corrected twice as did the other parties at our table. To their credit, they realized each check was screwed up and did not hesitate to correct them. Will still come again because food is great and they can accommodate big parties. Service each time has been hit or miss but food makes up for it.
Everyone from the host to the waiter was friendly! We were a large group and normally most restaurants have a hard time accommodating large groups and seem annoyed or overwhelmed...not the case here!
