The worst night of my life. First of all website says $7 valet well that was a lie...they haven't had valet service in over a year. Well update your website. Staff nor management was apologetic and could care less. In fact one of the staffers became very argumentative with me and stated well we haven't had it in over a year so you must have gotten it wrong. You are right I got it wrong by making reservations here at this establishment but the large party. Not to mention they had high schoolers running all over the restaurant half-dressed and very loud and obnoxious they were unsupervised but they didn't care because it was a large party. Large party...big money. Then let's get to the service the service was terrible to say the least I'll server did not even get all of our orders in continue to walk off and disappear had to ask a member of management more than 2 times to service our table which we were not successful at all. One of my guests had to wait over 2 hours to get a pizza a pizza why did it take the kitchen staff to make a pizza that almost took 2 hours to make unbelievable. Then to add insult to injury it was my birthday and it was listed on their birthday Marquis but they sang Happy Birthday to someone else not to me so after I made another plea for to get assistance the manager said nothing did nothing he actually stood behind one of his staffers while I literally lost it due to anger and frustration and finally they sing me Happy Birthday. They did comp the bill but ONLY because we complained about the service. Do yourself a favor DO NOT go here!!!
We had a large group (11) and we received the best service. Our server, Lyndon, was fantastic. Half our group was deaf and he handled it with no issue. The food was terrific. The double chocolate cake was outstanding! I live in Los Angeles and have visited several Bucca di Beppo's in L.A. and San Diego and the food was only okay, I went in with similar expectations and was pleasantly surprised. If I make it back to DC, Bucca di Beppo may be on the list of places to revisit.
Food was pretty good. My boyfriend and I split the small chicken and sausage ziti and had some as leftovers for lunch today. We also ordered a small garlic bread. Since it was just us two it was actually pretty large. Also, I love garlic bread and have eaten garlic alone before, but this garlic bread was over the top garlicky! Before I even took a bite I knew that it was too much just by the smell. I still ate some, and would probably eat the rest and dip it into some warm marinara sauce to balance out the insane amount of garlic.
As for service, they usually bring out bread with a plate of oil and vinegar to dip. Well, our server gave us the oil and vinegar, but it was another 20 minutes before we had gotten our bread ( this was after we had already ordered our pasta and garlic bread).
Our server initially also brought out the wrong pasta to us( I assume she just grabbed the wrong one from the kitchen as they had made the one we ordered as well) ..she brought out what looked like regular ziti with red sauce and ricotta cheese on top. I immediately knew it wasn't ours since ours should have had a cream sauce which is white, in addition to both chicken and sausage. Then after we got our food, we realized that we were never given regular plates. All we had were the small plates that were given out when we got our bread, so we wound up eating on those. The server didn't bring the larger plates until after we had already been eating for 5 minutes or so. We just continued to use the small plates because there was no sense in creating more dirty dishes at that point.
Overall the food was good and I always love taking the leftovers home for lunch the next day. I will be back!
I have been to several Buca di Beppo restaurants in the DMV area and a couple of times at the one in Washington, DC. However, this past experience was horrible. We were there celebrating my friend's birthday and from the time we sat down, we started to have issues. The waiter that started helping us was never around. He brought us water after half an hour of us being there. Never asked for our drinks and when we tried to place our order, it was almost an hour after we sat down. When he finally took our food order (we didn't order any appetizers because everyone was already hungry), he got it all wrong since we ordered separate bills. Never returned to our table, never brought silverware to the table and there was never a manager around to come and see wat was going on. We had to ask another waitress that was assisting another table to be our waitress and that's when we realized that the waiter had not put in all the orders but by that, the kitchen was already closed. Bottom line is, this was a horrible experience, we were there for over 3 and a half hours. We asked that the checks be placed under the name of the waitress that actually tried to help us and not the initial waiter. Not even that they could get it right. Some of us were questing on leaving tips for the waiter because of the all thought it was not right to the waitress who actually helped us. Again, no manager came to our aid to correct that and some of us left the restaurant without leaving a tip. It's an absurd to pay for a service and not be properly treated. You better get your act together and properly train your staff. I am not saying that this place will be empty since you have a great location and there are people that will always come to eat, but for sure you will lose some customers on that location. Keep in mind that you are in the customer service and hospitality business and you have serious issues with that. The whole staff and management need to be trained because you'll not succeed.
Seated Promptly - and by far one of our family's favorite restaurant (for a chain). Unfortunately - 2PM on a Sunday afternoon was a bit tough when it came to service. Waitress was slow - brought my type 1 diabetic daughter a Pepsi - vs a Diet Pepsi, and our waitress was inattentive because it seemed like she was the only waitress servicing at least five big tables all - in different rooms. Food arrived - and it was good. We've been to Bucas in NE, DC, HI, FL, MN, WI, IL and NC. Looking forward to one opening in Raleigh someday.
I arrived to check-in for a 7.15 reservation at 7.05. I was ignored by the host, Khalid (I believe his name was) for 15 minutes--he attended to every male waiting nearby before making eye contact with me. We then proceeded to wait another 40 minutes for our table as they sat four bus loads of tourists, five parties that checked in for reservations after me and were seated before we were. During those forty minutes, I checked in with the host and a woman I assume was the manager another five times, each time assured our table was being cleaned and we'd be seated in a "couple minutes." Our server was perfectly nice, but the treatment we received at the front door put a damper on the whole evening. I've been coming to Buca for years--including this one--with family and friends, but it has really gone downhill. Not even the massive plates of food at reasonable prices will lure me back to this particular Buca franchise. I'll be dining elsewhere in Dupont from now on.
Well, we didn't think we were going to get a table. We had a reservation, but their reservation system broke down. The guy at the host stand disappeared about the time we arrived and not only did he not return, no one came to take his place for at least 20 minutes. It was pretty chaotic. People were going to the takeout window and begging to be seated. Others just stood and waited. Two large groups, from tour buses, seemed to get seated right away, bypassing the smaller groups that were waiting.
Once we finally got seated, our waitress was excellent, and we enjoyed our meal a lot.
Usually my husband, son and I are ok when we come here during Police Week every year. Usually there are always HUGE parties (students and/or senior groups usually). So we always make a reservation. This past year, I guess some of the groups were not ready to leave as my reservation and another person's reservation collided. We actually had the host at the door tell us the following -- "Right now there is only one table available so you guys will need to figure out who gets it" -- I was floored. UNACCEPTABLE to actually tell a customer that. Other than that, our visit was fine, but they really need to work on the customer service aspect.
Food was good...but it took awhile to get to us so it was a bit cold. Our server had to leave because he got sick, so that delayed our service quite a bit. We waited about an hour for our meal, and they forgot one of our dishes, so it was frustrating with two young kids. I've heard people have had much better experiences at other Bucas, so I'm not sure if it was the location we went to or just the issues with the server.
We used open table to get reservation. We were seated over an hour after our reservation. They host did not know what he was doing. They would seat people in random order and people that didn't have a reservation - if you were standing closer to the restaurant versus the door you got sat first... disappointed in the long wait.
This place is a blast for a good time and a lot of food. That being said, the service on Sunday was horrible. It was the first time in my life I did not leave a tip.
If you aren't in a rush, this is a fun place to have a large portioned decent meal over a 3 hour period.
If you want a quick, normal, service oriented dinning experience (something that takes 1.5 hours or less) don't come here.
I took a large party here for dinner and it was a bust. Unfortunately it was the only place convenient to their hotel that could accommodate such a big group at the last minute. "Accommodate" turned out to be far too strong a word as we were shoehorned into a table suited for 4 fewer people than we had. The food here is never great, but usually passable. Not so this evening. And worst of all was the service. We waited an unreasonably long time for every single thing from drinks to ordering to the food itself. I was embarrassed for having subjected our clients to this very unsatisfying experience and made it up to them by taking them them to a high end steakhouse the next night. I wont be back. I advise you to avoid it unless you have a lot of time to kill and a really good sense of humor.
