Buca di Beppo - Castleton Square Ratings and Reviews
Went for our 3rd Christmas in a row and had our first problem. The last two had been great experiences. Our reservation was for 5pm but the service was abnormally slow. We got our appetizer order in about 30 minutes later and then were told they were out of chicken for any of the pasta dishes for the main course. Nothing was offered as a replacement. The other family had to order a pasta dish and a chicken dish because they only had the big breaded chicken. We switched to shrimp. Ours came out nice and warm and was good, just more costly than the chicken dish we were wanting. The other family’s came out lukewarm at best. Our waitress was switched three times and then we were told that since we were one party even though clearly two family’s and our bill was split that we could only use one coupon. After sharing our experience with the manager she took off an appetizer and it all worked out the same price wise.
We went here on Christmas Day excited that it was open and with hopes for a nice family meal with good food that everyone would enjoy. When we order appetizers, we ordered the Trio..waitress mentioned that the shrimp was spicy which would normally be fine for us so we still ordered it. The shrimp was SO spicy it really was inedible. We like spicy food but this was a whole different level. Terrible. We try to order dinner only to find out the pizza oven was broken. Moved on to order other items only to have the manager return to our table to tell us they don’t have the chicken to go on the pasta we wanted. So we cancelled that part of the order. Food finally comes out to the table and is COLD. At this point the kids were starving and we just wanted to get out of there...we ate what we could stand, paid the bill and left. Followed up our “Christmas dinner” with a trip to McDonalds. Will not be returning any time soon.
We have been going to Bucca in Castleton on Christmas Day for the past seven years. The food is always great, and the atmosphere is always fun. This year, our food came out cold. It wasn't even luke-warm. Our server was amazing, and quickly got the manager out to us. The manager's words were, "I don't know how it's cold as busy as we are." We were all dumbfounded. Here we are, celebrating CHRISTMAS with our entire family, and the manager spoke to us as if we were making it up. I am forty years old, and have never complained at a restaurant before. But, this was worth the complaint. He then left and said he would, "see what he could do." He ended up taking the two main dishes off of our bill, and sent us home with an order of baked ziti to-go. I honestly think the only reason he ended up doing that was because of our amazing server. We will never go back to Bucca for Christmas dinner again. He ruined our time, and made us feel like we were in the wrong. I couldn't believe it. There was no apology or anything. We ended up having to wait an extra 20 minutes for the to-go dish, and the only positive was that the server was so nice and understanding. It clearly wasn't her fault! We will be dining in another establishment and making new Christmas traditions from now on. That manager needs a lesson in customer service and appreciation!!! I used to be a server, and worked many Christmas days. None of my managers would have ever handled that situation in that way. We were only looking for an apology and hot food!
There were 9 in my group including 2 children. The service , Jamie, was amazing. She got every order right, was a lot of fun and she gave the best suggestions. Our food was tasty and hot, we love eating here as a family. Bucca serves family style dinners, allowing us to share and more importantly, the young people have to put down their phones long enough to discuss what dinner items we want to share. It was a special dinner made great by delicious food and outstanding service.
Salad was swimming in dressing and soggy. Garlic bread was not up to par. Our build a pasta bowl looked good on top but after stirring it had a lot of water in the bottom which diluted the sauce. Not good. The chicken parmesan was the only good item we had.
Not a good choice for a smaller group, with only two of us dining, there were NO options for individual servings. Every dish including the salads are only available in a "small" size that feeds 3 or a larger size. Everything is ala cart and there were no options to even get a side of pasta without ordering another full meal. I can see this being a great idea for larger groups, but made dinner for 2 very expensive! Of course there were leftovers. Service was slow, baked ziti was nothing spectacular and our server was slow and disappeared for long periods of time making it difficult to even get a drink refill. The inside is decorated in old Italian decor everywhere and the restaurant was very loud.
An excellent place for large groups; we had a party of five for a birthday; however we noted several larger groups enjoying themselves. Keep in mind the family style menu. The small size entree will feed 4 to 6; the menu indicates it will serve 3. If you order using the menu suggestions get ready to spend some $$ and take home a lot of leftovers.
One of, if not the worst, dining experience I have ever had. First off, we were sat in the bar and had 2 teenage girls with us. Very loud. Waited forever for the server to come by. Once he did, he proceeded to take our order without writing anything down. I knew we were doomed right there. He then came back to ask us what he forgot. We told him. The garlic bread app never arrived. The salad plates were never removed. We had to move dishes around just to give the main course plates room to be placed. We then asked about our bread and he said it would be right out. (see above) Finally I got up and talked to the AGM who then took over our table . In the mean time, we asked our original server for take away boxes and he said he would have to search for them. Never showed. Had to ask another server for boxes and she brought them right out. Oh, and the food was cold and not very good.
My husband and I decided to give this location another try after an horrible experience a year back. We were sorta worried, but were shocked but in a good way. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a Nichole. She was super happy and seemed to enjoy her job. The kitchen tour wasnt rushed and our table was clean. Our server was fantastic and the food was great. The restaurant seems to be under new management ment and it doesnt need to change any. As we made our exit Nichole was busy with another guest but still said goodbye to us. Thank you Buca for changing how you did things. We will be back!
Portion sizes are huge. Food was tasty but my only complaint is the cleanliness of the restaurant and furniture is old and needs updating. Floors, table cover and walls were sticky and gross. We were sitting in a booth and the booth seating was not comfortable at all. They seem very old and over used. I would recommend a deep cleaning of the restaurant including the walls. If I ever come back I would probably do a to go order.
For some reason our caprase salad took forever to arrive, but they comped it. Then, the kids' pizza wasn't delivered until the adults were almost finished, Again, it was comped. Not sure why there was such an issue in about he kitchen, it was 3:00PM on a Sunday, and they weren't that busy.
Where to start? ... It took too long for the server to greet us, it took forever to get our food, our dishes were dirty (large chunks of chocolate cake in between the bottom two plates in the stack! ) Then the order was wrong. (No offer to make it right or adjust the check, etc.) The kitchen staff was unprofessional, no hair nets or gloves, and eating on the line while cooking! After the meal the server boxed up our leftovers. She put our pizza in the box, piece by piece, WITH HER BARE HANDS! She did this at the table, right in front of us! I'm embarrassed that I took my mother and kids for mother's day dinner there now. I was very unimpressed by this experience and seriously doubt I'll go back to Buca di Beppo anytime soon...
