Buca di Beppo - Burnsville Ratings and Reviews
Bread — not good.
Sausage & Peppers — not at all like the photo on the web site. Unlike the photo we got very little peppers. The sausage was quite ordinary for that dish.
Chicken — ok.
Garlic mashed potatoes — good.
Odd — no pasta available as a side dish.
Coffee — EXCELLENT!
Service — really good.
We had a reservation for 7PM and actually checked in a little early. We were not seated at a table until 7:20. When we were finally seated there were several open tables that had not been cleared even though there were several people waiting for tables and being told it was a 30 minute wait. It was obvious they were very short staffed. Several tables remained dirty as we sat there. Once seated we did get our drinks and food fast.
Overall very good. Buca has been consistently good over the years. There had been times when service was lacking but food has always been good.
I appreciate that they ditched the Malt-shop-bee-bop music. None is better than that especially for an Italian specialty restaurant.
They recently revamped their menu and we tried the Shrimp Parmigiana...was excellent. But it does not come with spaghetti; OK...no big deal so we ordered a side of Spaghetti. Was told they took that off the menu! Huh? Side orders of pasta off the menu in an Italian Restaurant? Taking string beans or brussel sprouts off the menu I can agree with. But a staple like spaghetti? Makes no sense. So we ordered a kids size portion and that worked out OK. That was at the suggestion of the waiter so I think he had received coaching from management for instances like this.
Buca is our go-to for southern Italian food. The incentive coupons make it an excellent value. I was glad that they nixed the malt-shop music even though it was a bit noisy when we were there.
Food took a longer than anticipated time to arrive but it was good.
The service has gone down hill lately. I thought it was going to go better this time. They actually checked me in under my reservation which many times they have not but that was the only thing that went right. (except the fact that the food is always good) They didn't bring us any bread and our main food arrived before the salad. We had to ask for bread and then they didn't give us oil for our bread. They forgot to bring my daughters food and we had to ask them for her food. Then they didn't apply my coupon and I had to mention that to them. I will definately be taking a break from Buca for a while.
I chose Buca to enjoy a Valentines meal with my wife and two daughters. This ended up being a stressful event because we saw many customers come and go and get serviced by our waitress before us. It also took over an hour to get our food while other tables obtained speedy service. Once we got our food everything was good, but at this point I'm not sure we will go back to Buca again because it wasn't fun. Kind of ruined our Valentines night out. Service used to be good at Buca. We got one free dessert, but quite honestly a manager should have visited us and comped the entire dinner based on the disappointing service.
We hadn't been to a Buca in many years and won't be again for many more. Food was okay. Server was friendly but just not very good. He meant well. Slow to bring the bread- took several requests. Had to ask for drink refills. Never did check on if we liked our food (which took 40 minutes to get). The tables are too close together and to close to the aisle so was bumped by people when they walked by. Too many other better choices to go here.
We visited on Christmas Eve and Buca was busy. We had reservations but were still seated in the bar areas.
Nothing special about the food for the price. The dinner bread tastes days old, our Chicken Parm came out burnt, and even the pasta was pretty bland. Server was polite but very busy.
Too many out great options to recommend.
We had dinner on 12/9/16. We experienced mistake after mistake. It appeared the expo may have been new. First our order came out as a small when we ordered a large. Second they gave us someone else's appetizer and just dropped it without talking to us. Our pasta was not made correctly as the rosa sauce was not spicy as requested. Once the serve noticed the error in size she offered for a second small to be made which was packed Togo for us. Once home the pasta was complete wrong. It did not have the peas or spicy sausage that we ordered. We had no meat in the pasta all together. The Togo container was not even filled so it appeared we got shorted. We never got refills on the drinks. We will not be back to this location. And it was not even busy in the restaurant itself.
Server seemed to be in a rush to get us to order.she wasn't attentive at all after that. Other people brought our food out she stopped back for a Diet Coke for my wife and then the check. We literally spent 25 minutes in the restaurant from sit down to appetizer to entree to check. Groups around us of course are celebrating birthdays etc but it was extremely loud we couldn't hear each other talk. Wasn't an enjoyable experience by any stretch of the imagination. I'll stick to chianti grill
Spaghetti carbonara was very heavy and bland, not a favorite. Waitress was great, very upbeat and attentive. However, we have 4 kids- so when she took their drink order we would've appreciated her clarification that drinks were an extra $12 and not included with their kids meals, like most restaurants, that was very annoying. Also, kids spaghetti was soggy/overcooked. We do normally like the food here though, so hate to not mention that. Quantity was very generous, a small could have easily fed 5 or 6 imo.
The food was great except the spaghetti could have a little more sauce. Also we had a reservation through open table, I told them I had a reservation but apparently they didn't check me in under my reservation because later I got an email from open table asking why I didn't show up. It's at least the 2nd time that this particular restaurant has not checked me in under my reservation when I told them that I had a reservation.
The food was OK, I have had much better. Our waitress was a little curt at first, but got better as the evening went on, although she was not very attentive. We had to ask for more water and until we were ordering our dinner and we asked about bread, we were not offered any with our salads. This certainly was not because they were busy, because they really weren't.
The apple, Gorgonzola salad was the best thing I ate.
If you like Southern Italian food this is about as close as you'll get to Naples.
They do a good job and the quality is always consistent.
Look for their coupons as they are usually always aggressively discounted. :-)
For the premium you pay for a full service restaurant, its well worth the upcharge.
Way better than Ciatti's or Olive Garden, in my opinion.
