Buca di Beppo - Arrowhead Ratings and Reviews
This is our third and LAST time booking Christmas dinner here. Our experience this year was unacceptable. Management should be ashamed of themselves for overbooking and under performing especially on Christmas Day when this is supposed to be such a happy time for people. When you first walk in there is at least 50 people waiting to be seated for their reservation time that has long past. There is also another 20 plus people waiting for their take out orders. The kitchen can not keep up with the out put. But management is cashing in and won't turn anyone away despite the restaurants reputation. The girl checking people in tries to apologize saying their computer system is down so they are doing reservations based on a computer printout. Had I not been there the last 3 years, I may have believed her. But this is the same chaos and complete disarray I have seen the previous years.
We are finally seated an hour after our reservation time. Server takes our drink order. Drinks arrive & she suggests we order an appetizer as the kitchen is running behind and food is taking 1-1/2 hours to arrive. So we order a salad and our main entrees. The salad arrives and we start eating it. The room we are sitting in is now packed. Time is ticking by, 45 min, 50 min, then people behind us get their food but were seated after us. The waitress comes over and says I am going to check on your order because yours should have come out first. She's gone for a good 10 minutes. She comes back and says the kitchen is bringing yours right up. Another table who arrived half an hour AFTER us is now eating. Still no food for us after 1 hour 15 minutes. The waitress is now avoiding us. I have to ask another server to get our server. Our waitress finally comes over, near tears and says our order was never put in and will still be awhile. But says we can leave if we want. She talked to manager who decided we didn't have to pay for what we consumed. The manager should have been apologizing NOT her!
I made a reservation on Christmas Day for 12:30 pm. We arrived on time and waited for about 10 minutes for our table. Our food did not arrive until 2:00 pm. I have a 5 year old and a 7 year old. We had to ask for kid's menus. We waited 30 minutes for our drinks (water and choc milk). When the 2 main entries came - one was cool and the pasta was congealed while the other one was scalding hot. My son's pizza came 45 minutes before the rest of the meal and it was delivered wrong 15 minutes before that and had to be remade. When inquiring about the issue, we were told the kitchen was a disaster and everyone was scrambling. We were told that's what happens on a busy holiday. To compensate us, the waiter asked the manager if we could get a desert. The reply was "I can bring vanilla ice-cream for the kids." Like seriously? 2 scoops of vanilla ice-cream for 2 kids to share. So we spent close to $70 for lukewarm pasta and an hour and a half wait? I will never come here again or recommend this place to anyone. The funny part is, we had food delivered for our staff luncheon that Thursday and it was amazing. That's why I made the reservation. Boy, you fooled me! NEVER AGAIN - our holiday dinner was spoiled and this was supposed to be a momentous occasion. I am a teacher so my word of mouth will reach many others. I hope that lack of dessert/compensation was worth the advertising from me. GOOD LUCK - I have a feeling you will need it for your business.
We had reservations for Christmas Eve at 7 PM. We arrived approximately 6:45 and were seated by 7:10. Our waitress took our drink orders, and promptly returned with the drinks to take our dinner orders. We have been there before so knew that everything is served family style. Ordered salad, baked rigatoni and veal parmigiana. Everything arrived in a timely matter and was delicious.
This was our first experience at Buca di Beppo. Three couples were going to a concert. Reservations were made for 5:00 pm. We arrived at 4:55 and we were told the waiters hadn't arrived and it would be about 10 minutes. It was 5:20 when we were seated at our table. This put us and our server in a rush in order to be in time for our concert. The food was very good, although being first timers upon ordering we were told the pasta dishes were separate from the entrees. Waitress should have explained that in her intro. Good service and great ambience.
Overall the place was nice and clean the food was good but the alfredo was a little bland they serve big portions perfect for sharing but they dont offer many sides no one offered to refill our bread and butter and the waiters could not even recommend a good wine we had a big party of 18 so it was nice to have a private room
We were surrounded by tables with very loud small children (seriously, why would parents let small children bring actual noise makers into a restaurant - and let an infant scream it out while they finished eating and then make it a bottle instead of walking them out) - but that had nothing to do with the restaurant - that was the fault of the parents around us! The service and food were both outstanding - great spot for my sons family birthday dinner!!
We had reservation for 5:30 PM on Thanksgiving. People had to wait as long as one hour to be seated although they had reservations. We were lucky we had to wait 35 minutes. They said they were running late. With reservations only that should not happen as they obviously overbooked. Will not go there again any time soon. Very disappointed.
we went there for Thanksgiving Dinner. Second time for that particular holiday, the stuffing is outstanding!!! Its noisy, energetic, very very busy, and it seemed that everyone working was handling it very good. Our server was wonderful, and we will probably do the Thanksgiving feast again next year. But we will be back before than. Thank you!
Took almost an hour to get our dinner. When it finally arrived 2 items were missing and the food that did arrive was cold. Super slow service- server was no where to be seen. Usually have decent service, but probably won't be returning due to this experience.
My daughters and I made reservations for Father's Day, and when I had made reservations, they had mentioned that they would reserve the kitchen table for us as a special treat. We made our reservations for lunchtime days in advance, however, when we got there, there was a 45 minute wait past our reservation time to get a table. My kids were starving, and it was very cramped in the front entrance, with no seats to wait. On top of that, they said they couldn't honor the kitchen table (even though there was nobody sitting at it). The kids were disappointed and hungry, and on Father's Day, it was not a good experience.
ALWAYS, the food is good. To be honest they do seem to find it hard to customize some of the food. Their spicy rigatoni is great, but a little too spicy. I have asked in the past to make the dish with only 1/2 spicy and this time I was brought the dish with the spice on the side - really? Is it really that hard to put only 1/2 the normal amount when ordered that my dish was sent out in this fashion.
My only other comment is the spacing allotted. There were eight of us and the table was really crowded with 8 bowels, plates, glasses, bread baskets, oh and the customers.
The first thing that struck us was that the "Value for Money" proposition has changed at B Di B
Example:Twenty Five Dollars for a bowl of Salad which is essentially the same quality as what OLIVE GARDEN gives you as a free, unlimited side (ok, a little pepperoni thrown in).
The side of Italian Sausage was dry, hard and overcooked.(2 sausages,10bucks)
The serving of the mains was totally unacceptable as our Chicken Marsala (which was good) came out a full 20 minutes AFTER our Veal Parmesan (which was awful- hard, prepackaged cuts of "veal" frozen, Marie Calendar's style and quality- and was OVERCOOKED as well)
When we got our dessert, it was missing the "twelve chunks of brownies" which was central to the dessert.\\Although the manager came over and rightfully asked is/was everything ok? and removed the dessert charge from our check (which was the appropriate thing and the least he could do..) It amounted to too little too late.
I hate to slam a restaurant we used to enjoy and frequent all over the USA , but you should know about these problems. We did not penalize the waitress and left her 14% (knowing full well that the service problems were not likely her doing)
It would take a lot to get my once loyal family back as regular customers and we do not plan to go back for mediocre treatment and food.
