Buca di Beppo - Alpharetta Ratings and Reviews
Brought a group of 14 for dinner New Year's Eve. Waiting to be seated. Waited to take our order. Food came 90 minutes after ordering. Some was hot, some was cold. The manager discussed sending some compensation for our inconvenience, but haven't received it.
Great food and scenery but the wait staff was a little overwhelmed (specifically ours). Being that is was Christmas made it challenging, yet it seemed other wait staff were able to manage better than ours. Shame really because we came all the way from west Buckhead (about 35 mins away) to go thee based on someone’s recommendation. Overall the food was the real winner and being that it’s family style portions, we had some good leftovers the next day.
We were delightedly to find that Buca was opened on Christmas night and we booked a table at 4:45pm (almost everything was gone, understandably). Upon arriving it was a little chaotic. They couldn't find the reservation for the group before us and luckily we were fine. They told the group in front of us that they could wait but there was no guarantee they would be given a table.
We weren't seated right away and we had to wait for quite a while in the very crowded and chaotic front. Upon being seated, I was confused because I thought there would be no tables inside, but there were a few empty tables that they could have seated someone from that chaotic crowd outside a bit more quickly but they didn't.
Food was always great there, portion is huge. Dessert portions were impossible. One slice of cake, $12, they basically take out 1/3 of a cake out to you. We would have had something if it weren't that big.
The service that night was pretty slow, food came out slow, it took the waiter forever to fetch us the check, so slow that my husband paid with cash in order to avoid another long wait for the waiter to ring out the credit card...etc.
Overall we were just happy we had a decent meal on Christmas day. I hope it is just that day that was being chaotic, because it wouldn't have been ok if it were like that everyday....
The main factor was it was WAY TOO HOT and the tables were too close together so it varied back and forth between difficult to impossible to have a quiet conversation.
The food was very good with huge portions, the service was a little strange and went from rushing us when we first arrived to virtually disappearing when we were ready to leave. We sat for a full 30 mins waiting for our "doggie bags" and the check - becoming more and more uncomfortably hot.
We would go again for the food if we were very hungry but not recommend it overall.
Overall it was ok. Having eaten a lot of Italian food, I think there are just better options. For the price, I would have expected fresher Italian bread. And for the family style eating, the portions couldn't quite keep up with our family of 5. Wasn't a great visit, nor a bad one. Just an ok dining experience. Service on this visit was very good though.
ENJOYED OUR MEAL. The service was good and there was an over abundance of delicious food. We were celebrating a birthday and servers presented dessert with a song and a candle - very nice touch. A little on the expensive side but worth the experience and leftovers the next day were delicious as well.
This really is just a mass produced Italian place. The food is marginal and the waitress we had was pretty gruff. I had to take my food home because the portions are so large and discovered that the meatballs in my meal were raw on the inside. Being pregnant, I was pretty angry about that. Aside from that, the ladies room was gross and in major need of cleaning and repairs. Would definitely not recommend or return.
The staff and waitresses were very friendly. We enjoyed our salads and appetizer, however, neither of us enjoyed our entree at all. My husband had pizza and I had chicken marsala. We won't even eat the leftovers. As much as we liked the salad and app, we will not be returning.
We had a party of 12 for a graduation. Myself and another friend arrived early to be seated before my graduate and her guest arrived. We found ourselves completely disregarded for 30-40 minutes. I had to call the restaurant from within the restaurant to get someone to come take drink orders for my fro md and I. Honestly, the service didn't get much better throughout the evening. Very disappointed in that regard. The food was average but normally it's excellent.
Chicken parm was great. Baked ziti was bland (although my Dau had been there on a separate occasion and said the ziti tasted much better then). Apple waltnut salad was delicious. Tiramisu was terrible -- too dense, bland and cheesy. Service was slow, but the place was full for Mother's Day. We had reservations through open table, but they didn't seat us for another 40 mins.
Went on a very busy Mother's Day, the staff did a excellent job getting people seated and apologizing for the wait. Our waiter was great and the kitchen and quality was excellent and fast. I would definitely want to go back when it is a little quieter and less crazy, but like I said, it was great given the circumstances!
