Buca di Beppo - Allentown (Whitehall) Ratings and Reviews
They really give you a lot of food but wish we could get smaller portions. My husband and I got the bruschetta for appetizer and it was enough for about 8 people. My son wanted the brownie dessert but that also was enough for 8 people. Other than that the food was fantastic and people were very friendly.
We've been going to Buca's every year for Mother's Day since 2009. We keep coming back because the food is great, the service is wonderful (everyone there makes you feel like part of the family), and it's so easy to make reservations online! This year we invited more family members & they loved the experience!
Was very excited to celebrate my daughter's graduation here. Had a table for 10. Disappointed at the amount of food served. Expected it to be more like Maggianos. Food was good but not great. Server was pleasant but forgot to bring ordered salads. Had to remind her about other things as well. Overall ok experience but will probably go somewhere else next time.
We had a delicious meal, super excellent chopped antipasta salad done just right! We sat in the wine room all alone, and every time the server walked by giving the 'tour' to new guests, the number of bottles on the ceiling changed, that gave us a chuckle. The food was superb, delicious, portions were large as expected. Our server Lexi was attentive to our needs and provided excellent recommendations when asked. This was a birthday celebration and we would definitelyy go back.
Only one request, since Buca has so many 'rooms' for dining, it would be nice if they designated one for adults only. This way the families with several small children who joined our 'room' at the end of our dinner could be in a room for families. The chicken with capers, and lemon butter was so good, we're going back to get a large portion soon!
This is one of my favorite restaurants. However a few standouts had me a bit concerned about the experience this time around.
With my reservation for 9 people, we still had to wait for 15 minutes for our table to be ready. Upon walking through the restaurant, it was very noticeable that it was only approximately 50% full with customers, so the chore to have the tables available should not have been an issue. While we were not in a hurry, we did question the availability and wondered why we had a reservation if we still had to wait. Yes, everyone was on time.
When ordering our drinks, the waitress neglected to get the order from 2 of the children. She walked away too fast. When getting our drinks, with the bottle of wine only 1 glass was brought when it was made clear that 3 people would be enjoying some wine with dinner. We had to wait for the waitress to return for the additional glasses.
As the salad was brought to the table, we did not receive any dishes. Again we had to wait for the waitress to return so that we could request some dishes. As the waitress brought them, she apologized on behalf of someone else as it was their responsibility. Not sure if this the correct way to make sure the customer has what is needed, but we just smiled.
Overall, we enjoy the food and the ambiance when dining at Buca di Beppo, however these issues, as minor as they are, did cause us to have some concern about the preparedness of the staff. If the restaurant was full (more than 50% customers) what else would happen? Thankfully the rest of the meal was very enjoyable!
We went on Easter and had a larger party, and had split bills at our table. Half of the table was served their food, while the other had to watch. When they were then done eating the other half of the table got their food. We have been here before, and were happy. I am not sure if it was the holiday or something got messed up. The food was good, but the service put a shadow over the experience.
Ate here on 4/4/14 for family easter gathering at lunch time. Had difficult time finding place to accommodate us. We had 10 adults and 2 babies in our group and we had a great time. Staff was fantastic. Attentive without hovering. They were very informative about the dining experience. Liked the family style service, it allowed tasting of a lot of different things, all of which were excellent. Great food, Great place and Great people.
A small veal parm comes with three cutlets (no problem there), but two had gristle and were not nearly as good. The chicken parm was good, and the baked ziti was al dente, which was okay for some of us at the table. Everything had garlic in it, including the "regular" bread. That may be fine for most people. I spent over $180 for five adults. We'll go to the Olive Garden next time and save fifty bucks at least. The food won't be worse.
Came with hopes of gluten free but delicious and were quite pleased with choices and variety!
Didn't check the prices, but it was a special occasion so all's well. Plentiful for our party of 4 and we split the bill. The coupon of 4 for 40 was our initial hook, but as we couldn't use that it still got us there.
Suggest add a gluten free component to the offer for future. We will dine there again, and never a disappointment. thank you for great food, service and atmosphere!
Over the last 12 years my family and I have enjoyed many fine dinners and have celebrated many family events at Bucca's. The atmosphere, the eclectic artifacts and art which decorate the entire interior, the menu selections and fantastic service will guarantee that we will be sharing many more family dinners at this restaurant. We live in different parts of Pennsylvania, but the 60 mile drive there is worth it to all of us!
I've visited Buca di Beppo about five times I usally have great service and more than enough food to even take home with the small that feeds two. On Valentine's Day i decided to make a reservation with 3 other couples our reservation was at 815pm I know that on holidays their's always a longer wait. So i scheduled the movies for 11 pm our food didn't come out till 10:20pm by that time i told the waitress if i could have my order to go when she brought my check i saw that they barely packed us food for both of us. So I learned my lesson never to go on holidays.
They had our reservation for 745 when my open table e mail said 715 the waiting area was so packed you couldn't stand anywhere still had to wait until 830 to be seated. Food took an hour to come out, It was good though. I look forward to going back on a night when it's not so busy. On Valentine's day it was obvious they just took any reservation they could and didn't care who was waiting or angry. At least the food was good.
The lobby was packed on valentine's day, but we had reservations and were seated within a couple of minutes. This was great. We don't mind noise or children, we chose a family restaurant after all, but if they bother you, stay away. The thing is, the food was bland! The calamari appetizer had no taste. The spicy chicken rigatoni was bland! The roasted garlic mashed potatoes were worse than plain spuds from a box. The garlic bread had taste, but it was nothing special. Very disappointing. We would have lover to have gone with a large group of family, but no way.
Went with my wife for Valentine's Day, booked online, got to chose my table, great food, great wine, great server. I put moderate noise level, but it was busy, after all it was V Day, so it didn't bother us, I expect that on a day like that. Been there before, though, and it was very quiet and romantic. Love this place, would go back, and often!
Be prepared to eat a lot of food. I had low expectations but I was pleasantly surprised. I have gone a few more times and each time the service is great and the food is prepared well. The maze to get to your table can get annoying but once you're through it's worth it.
We were seated next to a wall which opened up to a room that contained a large, extremely noisy party of about 20 adults and kids. Why we were seated there is a mystery to me as there were plenty of open tables elsewhere. The waiter was a cheery guy that did his best in a bad situation. After our drinks were served, we were told that they were out of lasagna which is what we typically order. We ordered chicken parm and stuffed shells instead. We then had to wait 45-60 minutes for our food (thanks goodness we ordered an appetizer) while listening to the deafening wine-induced roar from the large party who the waiter later told us was also responsible for the long wait on our food. The food was excellent as always and we made the best of it. The waiter felt badly and sent the manager out to see us but she didn't seem to want to hear our complaints. Finally the waiter returned and offered us a free dessert - colossal brownie sundae - to make up for our lousy experience. We only go here 2-3x/year but will definitely insist on better seating next time and possibly even ask if there is a large party there that evening.
I made a reservation for me and my girlfriend and requested a candle be lit on the table while we are to makes to not more romantic and they did it. I thought it'd be a bit far-fetched but it was a nice gesture. The service was great as well as the food. I will admit the prices were high but you get what you pay for. Low prices = poor service and food. High prices = good food and service. I give Buca di Beppo 2 thumbs up 👍👍
We found Buca di Beppo on your site while looking for a restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner, while traveling. Our reservation was ready upon arrival, and we were greeted with warm welcomes from their staff, as we were taken through a tour of the kitchen. The atmosphere would be fitting for most any occasion. We ordered the Thanksgiving feast, and everything was delicious. I look forward to dining there in the future to try their regular dinner options, as the aroma of pasta sauces smelled wonderful.
The food was great, the waitress was really friendly, the scenery was interesting, and the prices were perfectly acceptable. I came to Buca to celebrate 6 months with my girlfriend and we both loved it, and will definitely be returning. The only thing I have to complain about is that I wish I had more food considering I ate everything I took home the next day.
The food was excellent and plentiful, and the waitress was very good, but the service was terrible. Took 2-1/2 hours for dinner; we had 20-30 minute waits between courses, even drink service was terribly slow. And we dined on a Tuesday night, when the restaurant was not that busy.
