Bua Thai Ramen & Robata Grill
Currently my favorite restaurant on the UES. Food and drinks are phenomenal and reasonably priced.
Very disappointing, the server was rude and the experience not great. Happy to leave!
GREAT FOOD In a FUNKY ATMOSPHERE .....................
This was our second trip! The food is great and the service shows up to match.
Great food, great atmosphere. Service was a bit slow.
Amazing food & great staff super friendly!
It was super dirty inside the restaurant. We sat at the bar, and watched as the bartender unloaded dirty glasses from the dishwasher and put them on the shelf to serve in. Then she dropped fruit on the floor and proceeded to pick it up and put in in someones drink. We were horrified!!
Fantastic Japanese and Thai Ramen, decent portions, great pricing, and overall good service. One of my favorite Ramen spot in the city
even after making a reservation, we had to wait for a table for 30 minutes, and then the table they gave us was only big enough for 4 people (we were 6). the table next to us (2 person table) was paying and leaving but they still refused to give us that table so we could sit comfortably. we somehow squeezed onto that table for another 15-20 minutes while we waited for the manager, to ask us to give us the table. The manager never came and after arguing with them for a little while they finally gave us the table. I was sitting on an extra chair they had added on between our table and the one behind us, and as soon as they said you can take that other table, the server came to me and asked me to get up because “I need that chair back” extremely rude, will not be going back
We made a reservation for 7:45pm but were not seated until we’ll after 8pm.
They were not prepared for indoor seating to accommodate our reservation. There were several groups also waiting to be seated.
Food was good and service was pretty quick once we got a table.
Never again. Everything was wrong- mediocre food, rushed service and we were all seated on top of each other.
Our waiter was rude, she snatched the menu out of my friends hand. My dumplings were ice cold in certain areas, we asked for 2 of the same entrees and only received 1, but I can’t entirely blame them for that since it was a little loud and she couldn’t hear us. Our drinks were good, so I will give them that, but I made a reservation and still had to wait while someone who did not make a reservation went in before us. Overall our experience wasn’t that great and I probably won’t go back again.
This place is very inconsistent. We went with a group of six the other night. We were late for our reservation because one of our group had trouble parking, and they would not seat us, which was fine with us. We wound up being seated 30 minutes late, however our reservation was for 5:15, and the whole time we were there, the tables for six up front sat empty. But the staff seemed unhappy with us after that. We are not drinkers and in the end we spent about $220, and maybe that was not enough for them. The appetizers were pretty decent, but the mains were really bland and disappointing. The service was slow and it seemed as if every staff member took part in it, with different people showing up repeatedly. The front door was open and it was cold where we were sitting near the bar. We asked them to raise the heat but it remained cold. After the meal, all of us thanked all of the staff on our way out, but none of them would answer us at all. I mean, not one word, although all of our interaction had been pleasant. There are a lot of good Thai restaurants in this neighborhood, and I don’t know if I would return to this one.
The food portions are good, but the food itself isn’t as seasoned as I’d expect. The space is kind of cramped and the night I went there was an odd smell coming from the back. Our waiter was very nice however.
Great food and good service. Would recommend!
Made reservations that they never checked bad service and okay food
Poor service. Got our order wrong many times.
The food was fresh and flavorful, the staff were nice, and the ambience unique. The only reasons for 4 instead of 5 stars is that they were overpriced (compared to other Thai spots) and the service was a little slow. Nonetheless,
everything was great overall!
This restaurant was packed inside and out! Service was OK, but the waitresses were so overworked that it wasn’t surprising that we had to wait for both the drinks, meal and check. Our water glasses were never refilled, again, the staff was very busy. For the food, it has little to do with authentic Thai flavors, clearly, they “adjusted it” to American tastes. Nothing wrong with that, just not authentic. One of the two dishes was mediocre, the other was good. Not more. The noise level was very high, which took away from a pleasant experience as well. Wishing good luck to the place, but won’t return.
The food was amazing and the service. It is a bit loud with the music but great atmosphere.
Great pad Tai, good service. But very noisy.
Excellent food, friendly staff.
Love Bua. Normally a beautiful environment inside but they had shut down the back the night that we went so we were a little on top of other people in a tiny seating section near to the kitchen. Great place though, food’s solid. It’s one of my favorite Thai places at the moment. Will definitely be coming back!
Fourth time dining here and absolutely love it! Amazing (strong) drinks, and the best variety of dishes.
Food was really good! Drinks were extremely watery. Ours at least. My lychee juice tasted like 100% water. And on top of that tons of ice added. Pina colada also very watered down. Expected more from that especially given its price point. :( place was a bit dirty but could be because it was so late in the evening. Overall maybe great for takeaway food or a quick stop by for lunch!
Great food, quick service!!
Everything was amazing! Cant wait to go back!
Amazing. Todd was incredible and made us laugh!! Sooooo goood!!
It was my husband’s birthday dinner. He loved the food and the desserts
Even with a reservation the wait was long. Must be a popular place. But the time to get our food to our table was pretty fast.
Delicious and loved our waitress. Pad Thai could have been tAstier but I loved the apps and fried rice!
The food was great. Very flavorful and just the right amount of spice. Our waitress was very attentive. The only issue we had was our reservations and seating. Obviously the place is very busy but we made reservations for 8 and didn’t get seated until about past 9. It’s as if our reservations didn’t really count for anything. We had to wait in line anyways and waited over an hour.
I booked a 7:45pm reservation. I go to Bua quite often and absolutely love it, but on this night they completely messed up the reservations. There were multiple parties who had reservations booked waiting for 30mins - an hour. They barely asked for our name and kept ignoring us. We did not sit until 8:30, and were not offered anything to make up for it. A few groups with an 8pm reservation actually sat before us too. I love this place, and the food made up for it overall, but it was a really bad experience to stand there waiting for 45 minutes when I had a reservation and arrived early, and was not given an apology or anything on the house to make up for the issue.
We were seated right away, and the waiter was friendly. The food and drinks came out very fast and there were no complaints. The only thing I would say negatively is that it was extremely crowded, different parties of people were seated less than 6ft apart.
Everything was great with the food but they are not really practicing social distancing inside and there were definitely at more than 50% capacity
Date night on Easter Sunday!
It’s above average thai food with good serving sizes and decent prices for upper east side dining.
Was probably my 3rd time dining there and it was every bit as good as the other times.
The food was delicious but the tables were kinda close especially for covid times
Food is not bad.
Service is not great. Server sent the wrong drinks to us like 5 times.
If you want to go for drinks I highly recommend as far as food it was below average I’ve had better Thai food ambience is great
