Brussels Bistro - Laguna Beach
Perfect food. Better than at the Grand Place in Brussels!
Loved the food
Service was good
Great place for mussels and good choice of broths
Great selection of Belgian beers.
Sat in a corner table which is great as it’s a tight space with staff bustling around.
Staff friendly and helpful.
Having tried and loved the San Clemente location, we thought we'd try Laguna Beach. Initially we had booked a table downstairs inside but decided to take a perch up top right on the pavement. It's a great spot for people watching and was a lovely evening with a cool breeze. This is definitely a popular spot although you wouldn't always know unless you look in downstairs.
I took a stroll downstairs to the restroom, this venue is a little smaller with lower ceilings than the San Clemente location - personally for my taste, its a lot louder and you seem to be sitting on top of each other.
Food is great as always, service was fantastic and they were all very attentive. We'll be back for cocktails for sure to watch the world go by, maybe with snacks but I'll save dinner for our local in San Clemente
Great food and great service. Everyone was very kind and accommodating. The entire place including the restrooms was spotless.
a bit expensive but considering that is a special cuisine special to Brussels then it is worth to pay that price.
Great food and service every time
We love Brussels Bistro.......we have dined there approximately 4 times in the last 8 months and found it to be very inviting. The food and service is excellent! A couple joined us there this last time, and they also loved it and said they would be going back for sure.
It’s a very small, intimate dining experience which wasn’t necessarily bad. It can get very loud, so if you’re looking for a more intimate setting, maybe not the place. We were seated outside in the ‘patio’ area, and it just felt a little...cheap?
The mussels were good (ask for bread vs fries) and the spaghetti carbonara as delicious.
Service was swift.
Excellent quality mussels per usual. Think the French fries should be crispier.
4 people dining, the 2 who had the mussels enjoyed them a lot. Diner with steak thought it was terrible, and frankly it looked bad, way overdone. Diner who ordered a night special of trout almandine thought it was ok. Drinks were fun.
We started off with Brussel sprouts with a bacon and Balsamic glaze and moved on to mussels we tried 3 different types Belgium Beers and fries. All items were great Sevice was s bit week But I will be back. .
A great place to get together with friends... it wasn't any of our birthdays, but watching 3 others, I can tell this is THE place to go to celebrate!!! They do it right!
I cannot think of another restaurant lie it. Maybe the feeling of being underground. What brings me back is the Belgian beer and the frites!
The food was spectacular and the waiter was able to tell us all about the food and answered any questions we had and had good recommendations that we loved. I have never had a salad like the beet salad before and it was so delicious
The food was absolutely horrible. Way overpriced. Doesnt seem like this soot cares much or even love food.
A little taste of Belgium in sunny Laguna Beach. Good selection of Belgium beers. Mussels were delicious, almost as good as in Belgium. The Bitterballen were very good with a nice crust and creamy, meaty center, almost like a battered and deep fried pate. The complementary bread was excellent and served as a great means to sop up the excellent garlic cream broth from the mussels. I'll be back. Don't miss the happy hour.
The best mussels I have ever eaten. I also found the selection of different preparations of the mussels were good.
Birthday celebration! Great food! Had the beef bourguignon which was excellent as is the Dover sole!
Excellent moules frites! Just like I've had in Belgium, though the excellent mussels come fresh from Washington State.
Service slow at first, but then excellent. Atmosphere is pleasant enough, but restaurant is below street/sidewalk level.
The food is fantastic, a smidge heavy, but delicious. We came for the mussels and fries (a family favorite), they were wonderful, sweet and each preparation was better than the next. The special grain mustard, bacon, cognac version was the winner, but all were delicious. The only note is that they take a minute to get out to the table, so if you know you want mussels, order them right when you sit down. Obviously, everything is made to order from scratch, you can taste it, you just have to be a little patient and have another beer. Be careful, the bread is hot and wonderfully crusty, even slightly charred in a good way, it is easy to eat way too much. We weren't going to order dessert and the server overheard us say happy birthday to my father, suddenly march music was blasting over the sound system, the whole staff came out clapping with a glass full of Brussels chocolate mouse topped with fresh whip cream with a full blazing firework torch on the top. It was fun and divine. The chocolate bested our plan for gelato after dinner. We wanted to come back to try more items on the menu.
We have enjoyed dining at Brussels Bistro on our annual visit to Laguna and they never disappoint with the quality of seafood and of course their delicious mussels. They have provided friendly knowledgeable customer service each and every visit.
Great mussels. All you can eat any flavor tuesdays
Wonderful tasting, authentic Belgian food and beer.
Excellent food and service. What more can I say? Belgian is not French
So so yummy! You have to try the escargot and smoked salmon fettuccini!
WE LOVED IT HERE! GREAT ATMOSPHERE WITH EXCELLENT FOOD AND SUPURB SERVICE! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Good food Great Service. Mussels were spot on. Beet salad deserves a Oscar.
Food was just ok. Trout was swimming in butter, very bland and came with boiled vegetables ! Mussels were much too oniony for my taste and I didn’t care for the French fries either. Service was awful. We were never even asked if we wanted dessert Check just arrived at our table
Fun and different in Laguna Beach worth checking out
Fun (hidden) spot in Downtown laguna, recommend the Chicken/Mushroom pastry entree & Bouef Bourguignon (both healthy servings, and quite delicious!)
My wife had the Dover Sole and I had the small mussels with wine and garlic. It was all fantastic. We also had the Brussel sprouts which were probably the best I’ve had. Great service . Fresh . Nice location.
Great Belgian cuisine. The mussels are great as an appetizer or a main course.
A second visit for dinner just confirmed what we already knew. Friendly, efficient service and a consistently tasty menu makes you want to come back!! Couldnt pass up the Mussels...green curry....and excellent appetizers that were just perfect!! Enjoyed the cheerful efficiency of our server CHRISTINE H, and will certainly return again. Great variety of Belgian beer!!
I love this place!!! Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. A great place to go on a date, for anything really......go and check it out!
Food was delicious! Service was great! The restaurant is crowded and a little cramped, but lively and pleasant! And all just steps from the beach!
Some of the best comfort food I've had in ages. So good! The bitterballen and beef bourginon were off the hook.
To be able to reserve a table for 2 on a busy Friday evening..4th of July weekend...was a real PLUS!! A varied menu to please all tastes with a visit to Brussels, without the plane ride. Authentic flavors, on-point service, and an energetic vibe, makes this cozy establishment a FUN place to visit. Ample portions, moderately priced and Frites that you cant not try! Great selection of Belgian beers!!
Wonderful! Delicious! The best secret in Laguna Beach.
We love Brussels! The ambience evokes dining in Europe. The service is exceptional.
The food delicious!! Love the curry mussels, our friends enjoyed the salmon with pesto.
