Bruno is also a no-tipping restaurant. We strive to provide great food and great service for everyone.
A great local place for a solid meal at a reasonable price.
Great pizza with a stellar beer and wine list.
Pizza's were delicious. I love the dough. The sausage and squash pizza was amazing.
Another fantastic meal - the fall sausage pizza was phenomenal. Market salad a 10, and we loved the Cacio Y Pepe. Thank you!
Great place and great staff but we waited two hours and no food. They gave us drinks for free because we had to leave
Better the first time I went last year. Salads were amazing.
Pizza burnt on the bottom. Late on reservation so sat at the bar. Would have been fine... but service was bad and behind the bar was a mess. Would try again...
Seems like an off night for them.
Good pizza, way under-staffed. With a reservation was seated 30 minutes late, pizza got there after an hour and ahead of appetizers, which never came. Saw a server twice.
I've been to Bruno multiple times, and each time, it's a treat! Parts of the menu change seasonally so I never get tired of what's there. Additionally, the classics (e.g., pepperoni) are always available and tasty. I didn't know this before; however, they have happy hour, and it's a great deal! I happened to order a beer on happy hour, and it was $5 instead of $9!
Always first rate creative food.
The service was slow. The person filling the water glasses was on it though.
Exceptional and authentic Italian food! Thank you.
The best organic pizza in the city. They even mill their own wheat for the dough. Service and staff super friendly. We will absolutely go back
Bruno Pizza is a GREAT find. We squash crostini with sunflower seeds. It was bursting with flavor. The market salad was delicious. Simple and refreshing. On top of that, their pizzas are amazing!!! We had the pepperoni pizza and also the speck & pear pizza. Both were incredible. I love that the crust is thin like a flatbread and the size is just a little bigger than a "personal pizza". The toppings are very good quality, the flavor combinations are fantastic. They had a great wine and beer list as well. It is lovely, gourmet pizza. I can't wait to go back. Furthermore, our server was adorable. He was super attentive and polite. Wonderful experience.
Bruno's is always a lovely treat. Amazing place.
They forgot one out starters and never even noticed. The waitress did not offer any help when we were clearly struggling upon finding out that they don't even have 4 kinds of pasta as stated on their website but only two... Deserts were not inviting at all and it is clearly way overpriced for what it is. This basically an interesting pizza place with great ambience and that's all. That shouldn't cost $160 for two...
We were a group of 9, Bruno is not a large space, given this I think our experience was pretty great! Yes, they were suuuuuper slow to take our order. Yes, they had run out of half the appetizers, pastas, and one of the pies we wanted, but still I would say our experience was great! Of the food we did get- 7 pies (5 different varieties), eggplant app, stracciatella, and Cacio e Pepe, IT WAS DELICIOUS!! We brought a few of our own bottles of wine and they were very generous with their corkage fee policy. They also have an awesome beer selection! We ended up closing the restaurant basically, but never once felt rushed out. The check was so fairly priced, we joked about ordering more pies! Can't wait to go back - they handled our large party superbly well!
The pizza was really delicious. Staff were friendly.
Perfect as always! I sitting with a view of kitchen.
It s become a simple pizza place. With little other reason to go.
Everything I have had at Bruno has been delicious, and had a lovely presentation.
I personally didn't like the pizza. The dough is dry and mealy and there was nothing special about it.
I was assuming with the high prices and all the hype that it was mind blowing.
I personally won't go back but that could just be my taste.
Good pizza, yummy dessert! Excellent service and only place in NYC where you are not pushed to tip waiters! Only minus is an excessive cost of wine or beer
Amazingly (because I rarely enjoy them), I thought the Market Salad was the best thing we had. Pizza is great. Service is generous and welcoming. Will return, will recommend.
This place is truly a gem. Service: Our bartender/server, Geriz, was amicable and extremely attentive. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and their extensive beer list.
Food: The food was out of this world. We had the pulled mozzarella with delicious sourdough followed by 2 pizzas - margarita and "special" pizza, which was essentially a very decadent 4 cheese pizza. We polished off with a lemon tart that was equal parts sweet and palette cleansing. Definitely coming back again!
Came in on Pizza Night (Monday), when they were serving only pizza, so didn't have the chance to try their other menu items. But they have single night pizza specials, which I thought was very unique and fresh.
Loved the creativity, had a contemporary spin on ingredients while still maintaining quality in their pizza craft. Summer Squash and Meatball pizzas were our picks and were quite satisfied. Great with wine, which they had a good selection to pick from.
It definitely has an up-and-coming feeling to its interior. Very minimalistic with a New Yorker attitude kinda vibe. They have these plates with a graffiti truck printed on them in a blue porcelain style.. which says it all. Not familiar with the hype surrounding this place that past reviewers may be mentioning, but when we came there wasn't too much noise or disturbance in terms of atmosphere.
They had a no-tipping policy, and stated that the prices on the menu reflected fair wages for their employees, which I found to be very considerate. Will probably be coming again for a casual night out for some not-so-ordinary pizzas.
Service was poor - we didn't actually receive everything we ordered. Food is mediocre and the pizza crust doughy. Not a great experience
Warm service and great food (inventive yet comforting at the same time)!
My wife and I had dinner here-- looking for something casual but creative, and got it. High quality and a bit different.
Loved every bite of it. Having the owner around is such a plus for a complete dining experience.
Good pizza and beer menu but too loud and too bright.
Go early to avoid the crowds and for their happy hour! Once it got crowded ~8pm, we noticed a slight decline in service compared to earlier in the night. (They forgot about a dessert we ordered) Tables can be tight so getting in/out was a bit challenging for both people and any nearby wine glasses. What made up for it were the tall ceilings, which are a rare find in east village restaurants so did not feel small at all.
Squid ink pasta was well done and the pasta was actually cooked al dente. Speck and peach pizza was also very nice. Crust was thin and had a good balance of chewiness and char.
what a find! the food was fit for a Michelin star.....-and there was pizza! the restaurant is deceptive because it seems modest by virtue of being a pizzeria, and it is small and clean and neat and white and modern, but the food was a dream. innovative, pretty, yet not at all pretentious. and of course the pizza was delicious. great wine list--interesting choices--and the house white was light and crisp. no tipping which I found a bit socialist in contrast to the food, but I understand the reasoning. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough--I just wish it had wheels and could be situated uptown. but if that were the case, we would never get a table. this restaurant works for an early family dinner, but I would not hesitate to make a grown up dinner party there as well--narrow tables so everyone can talk to each other and a departure from the usual pomp and circumstance that comes with food of this quality, design and above all, taste.
Place was not super clean
Service was OK
Food was OK but not great
Noise Level was hardly sustainable, although the place was not crowded, sound seems to reverberate there. We got the check and left as soon as we could.
I don't think i will come back, there are better pizza places in the neighborhood.
Excellent food in a lively setting
Great service! Pizza crust was great but not enough cheese. They only put a small amount & over priced! Too many great pizza places in NYC. You can definitely skip this place
