Brownstone serves brunch 7 days a week and has become an industry favorite that’s also popular with tourists and residents in the South End. Chef Kelly and his team craft every dish from the finest and freshest ingredients. Coupled with an innovative craft beer and cocktail program, Brownstone is a gem in a city known for world-class culinary offerings.
I was disappointed. The restaurant was extremely loud, so it was hard to even talk to my friend. The food was fairly bland, especially my quinoa burger, which was also fried (didn’t expect that)! Service was okay, and our waiter was pretty friendly but very busy. I wouldn’t go again.
We were highly disappointed with this restaurant and the food. Ridiculous that there is a one page menu for food and 3 pages for alcohol. We do not drink.
Food was good and quick! My friends had the combo (french toast was amazing) and the eggs Benedict. I had the avocado toast. My only complaint is that the avocado was very cold which brought down the temperature of the toast and the poached eggs. The best part of the dish were the heirloom tomatoes.
Our table was very comfortable and the atmosphere was relaxed, although the lighting was too low especially for brunch. Overall the total was $54 which I think is very reasonable for 3 people at a nice brunch.
Excellent and creative breakfast menu. Friendly waiter and bar tender. Will go back when I visit Boston.
Excellent brunch spot the food is great and the Sunshine is a great brunch drink!
Very disappointing, we were seated in a rather dimly lit area, very dark hard to see,
food was mediocre at best!
Always enjoy a meal at Brownstone. Have come for brunch twice and they do a great job. The food is delicious, decent price point for the city, good variety of food options, and the service is always really good.
Great brunch options and excellent service!
Brownstone is one of my favorite spots in Boston. The cuisine by Chef Kelly is creative and delicious. The service is always spot-on, and the drink selection is awesome. I can't recommend it enough- go check it out!
Good food, decent sized portions, service was attentive but not too much.
Always a favorite. Best brunch. Love the corn beef hash, mimosa, bacon and chocolate chip pancakes!
Everything from food to service was great. One guest was gluten-free and would have appreciated more options such as gluten-free bread. However she did find other dishes. Hash browns were excellent.
I came to visit for the weekend and it was the best food I had there all weekend
Amazing food and service. We would definitely come back!
Fantastic brunch. Had the eggs benny. So great served with red potatoes. We were able to sit inside next to open windows to the street. So lovely. Plan to go back again and again.
Unlike most other reviewers, we went to Brownstone for dinner. On a Friday night they only had one server for the entire restaurant. He was hustling but was totally overwhelmed, and the service suffered. Meanwhile, the hostess spent the entire night standing around with her face buried in her phone. When we arrived, I must have stood in front of her for 15 seconds before she looked up, and even then she couldn't wait to get back to whatever was on her phone. I had the chicken sandwich and didn't think it was particularly good. The fried chicken was very dry, and the mayo tasted a little weird (not like it had gone bad, just funny tasting). I will say that most of the other people in my group liked their food, and my fries were excellent.
I have come to Brownstone three times for brunch now, and each time was outstanding. Great service, great drinks, and great food. Highly recommend!
Food here was very good. The space is fun and energetic but very loud. Not great for conversation. Enjoyed it but wouldn’t go out of my way to come back.
Great casual restaurant for a group, there was something for everyone on the menu (vegetarians and picky eaters included). Everyone in our party enjoyed their food, service was timely and the atmosphere was pretty casual. We weren't rush out and we able to enjoy our dinner and conversation.
Met with a new girlfriend of mine for the first time and Chris K. was our server; love home because he never disappoints! Will always be one of my favorite places Brownstone!
First, the food exceeded my expectations and it didn’t break the budget. Not busy, even on a Friday night. Great little restaurant. Our poor server looked like he was taking care of too many tables at one time. Now that i think about it, I didn’t actually see another server in the restaurant that night. But he did great, no complaints on service. Overall, it was a really good find.
Buzzy atmosphere. Large and varied menu: something for everyone. Good fresh food. Fast service but slightly pushy: "are you sure you don't want an entree?". Nice balance between fancy and casual. We will go back.
Waiter was attentive and made suggestions for us. Meal was delicious
I always enjoy the food here but the particular waitress we had was very forgetful and it clearly seemed like something was going on. She would forget to come back to our table for long periods of time or she would come back and ask if we needed anything twice in the duration of 2 minutes. It was strange!
Sunday brunch during the World Cup didn't waiver the great food and service provided each time that I have dined at Brownstone. Their staff is impeccable - The hostess was kind and proactive. Our waitress was very attentive, patient, and genuinely friendly. I spotted a busser using leftover water for the window plants to ensure they didnt overheat. Kudos to whomever is doing the hiring here - it seems you have a staff that care about customers and where they work, even during a major event.
My second time there for Brunch on a Sunday. We had great seats right by the window, which was perfect for a warm summer day. We were seated right away, and the server came right over to take our drink order. Drinks came quickly, food was quick/hot/tasty as well. Generous portions, good value for Boston Brunch. It was noisier than usual because of the World Cup soccer game on the TV. It took a long time to get the check but that was really the only service issue... I guess it is better than being rushed!! :) The table was super wobbly- and I think we had the same table last year with the same problem.... but, we will definitely be back. Fun spot.
It’s okay. Checked the menu online before we went - had just a handful of main dishes, but there was one that appealed to me. When we got there, that dish was no longer listed on the menu. Had to settle on the flatbread instead. It was fine, nothing great. Restaurants really need to update website when they change the menu.
Bartender and service was great. Not a great hostess/ first impression.
The venue is very nice, it's very clean also. We were disappointed as they had to send out for mayo and mustard and my husband ate later than the rest of us because of that. The service and cooking were really slow and that was a downside, but the food was very good. We would go back and just bring our own mayo!
(Brunch on July 4th) Our waiter took our order.... and we never saw him again. The wrong food was delivered to our table and our coffee/water glasses remained empty for most of the meal (never refilled).
Really enjoyed our meal here - had a party of 5 and had no issue getting a day of reservation. We were seated quickly and the food was good (especially the pasta aglia e olio -- it seems weird for breakfast, but seriously just do it). They had the World Cup matches on for us to enjoy the whole time. Wouldn't recommend if you're looking for a quiet conversation but great to just catch up with friends. Reasonably priced.
Good enough to return.
Food was great and the service was better. Very friendly and attentive.
Problema con black pepper allergies other than that It was great
Had brunch here while staying in Boston. First of all our server was fabulous, bar none! I had the eggs Benny on pulled pork with onion strings. Man. So good. My hubby had French toast sticks and chicken in syrup. 10 out of 10.
Hostess. Service - consistently excellent!!!
Here's the thing: I visited Brownstone last weekend for brunch, and both the food and the service were great. I decided to grab the same meal for a late lunch this week, during a busy day. Both the service and the food were noticeably less good. I'm not sure what was going on, but I wasn't pleased with my meal and the service was inconsistent.
The food and service was very good! So were the cocktails! We were there for brunch. I would like to suggest offering some apps to go with the drinks on your brunch menu. It's nice to have something to nibble on with your drinks while waiting for the food.
The atmosphere, service and food were excellent!! We will definitely be back.
Pleasant, comfortable restaurant with great food.
